Technology Market / Should I Buy From Ali Baba? by lawalhu(m): 5:06pm On Oct 15, 2018
The screen of my old Lumia 1020 got damaged and efforts to find a replacement locally is proving difficult. It's an old phone, released in 2013. I searched Amazon and found that the screen was available and could be shipped to Nigeria. I also searched Ali Baba. The price of the LCD screen at Amazon was $64 while that of Ali Baba was $24. Considering this huge difference in price I naturally had to contemplate whether the Ali Baba's was genuine LCD screen. I would like to receive advice from experts here, before making my mind on where to buy from.

I tried to make the purchase from the microsoft but each time I tried the response was check your payment info and try again. The payment info was ok, unless, perhaps, if gtb naira mastercard is not accepted by them.Of course, I have money in the account. See screen shot of the message.
beefer7: $39.99. Paid with my GTBank Dollar Visa card but I expect the Naira Mastercard will work too. You won't get Windows cheaper than that

Computers / Re: Why You Should Not Go For Windows 8 by lawalhu(m): 7:03pm On Nov 02, 2012
I think it's not the problem of card. It's about zip code and Microsoft still doesn't recognise zip codes of various Nigeria's cities. Joeydozzy, I haven't upgraded to windows 8 yet. That's what I've been trying to do.

I tried to upgrade to windows 8 from windows site but my zip code was rejected; that it was in an invalid format. Obviously, upgrades from Nigeria aren't allowed. Again, someone offered to sell me the software at a retail price at ebay but my attempt to link my gtb naira mastercard to my paypal account wasn't successful, as the card could not be verified by paypal. Does anyone has an idea on how I could possibly upgrade to the windows 8 from Nigeria, using my card?

Computers / Re: Best Antivirus To Use by lawalhu(m): 8:59pm On Mar 17, 2010
Someone should kindly help explain to me. I purchased a licence for AVG antivirus, version 9.0, 5 days ago. A download link was sent to me among other things. I was warned in the email conveying the link 'Please remember to make a backup copy of the software, e.g. on CD. We may
not be able to provide a new copy of the product you purchased free of
charge, if lost.' The link expires in a month's time.

I need to know whether it will make any difference if I choose to download from any available link and thereafter register my licence. I'm yet to download because my slow internet connection wont allow me for now. I'm looking forward to the weekend.
Technology Market / Re: Mobile Phones Prices Database by lawalhu(m): 12:31pm On Jul 22, 2009
Good afternoon all,

Please how can I buy nokia n97 from amazon.com? I tried several times but the response from the site has always been the item cannot be delivered to the shipping destination. I provided my office address including p.o.box but all in vain. The only explanation on learn more link was if the item is too big it could not be sent to a p.o.box. However, since the item I wanted to buy is a mobile phone and I have provided both p.o.box and location address, I wonder why delivery would not be possible to my destination. Please if there is anybody with expererience on transaction with amazon I want them to explain to me how I can purchase an item from them.

Thaks

My Sony Ericsson P1i is no longer recognised by my pc when connected on phone mode. I have twice uninstalled the SE pc suite and reinstalled, but all in vain.

Someone should kindly advise me on what to do.
Phones / Re: Help! Where Can I Upgrade My Phone. by lawalhu(m): 6:39am On Jul 02, 2009
Niko my problem is I want to migrate from SE P1i which I currently to a higher model, still produced by SE. I've been using the p1i for close to 2 years now. I thing it's a good phone considering all the features such as push messaging, qwerty keyboard, predictive text input and lots more. What has however made me begin to think of upgrading to a higher version is my recent experience with Quickoffice. I bought a higher version to replace the one that came along with the phone. I however noticed that the new version like the old one couldn't recognise vista document. When I complained to Quickoffice they told me that the version I bought was the highest upgrade for UIQ and they have stopped development of new software for these category of phones because development on that platform has stopped.

I really need to go for an upgrade. Something that has all the features of p1i and more. Someone should please recommend for me.

Someone should please tell me what to do. I use SE P1i. I recently updated the phone's software. Before the update, I had opera 9.5 beta, among other applications. It was in my card. Since the update, whenever I switched on the phone I would be prompted to install the opera 9.5 and it could not be installed. In fact, I looked for the software in the phone but it could not be found. Again, I notice that whenever I connect the phone to my laptop if it is on phone mode the pc suit and the laptop wont recognise the phone. No phone connected. I thought it was the usb cable but it's not the same problem when I connect on transfer mode.

Kindly help.
Science/Technology / My Glo Gprs Doesn't Support Operamini by lawalhu(m): 11:19am On Nov 02, 2008
Can someone help to explain to me why my glo can't support my operamini and other applications? I recently switched to glo because the new mast hoisted by mtn in my area doesn't have gprs. I, however, discovered that with glo gprs I can only use my phone's browser to browse. Applications such as operamini, gmail and weather midlet can not connect to the gprs.
Moreover, the glo gprs is dam too costly compared to mtn's.
