so what is the big fuss about african immigrnats getting more degrees than african americans?

AA's and European Americans are not considered an immigrant group in the States. You need to read what you write in heading when you try to argue something. They are usually considered native born. After 2 generations the immigrant label usually goes away and those two groups for the most part are well beyond that with many European Americans coming during the late 1800's - early 1900's. So your first part of this statement makes no sense.

You are making the fuss about this. LOL!! Why do you feel threaten by that fact? I mean I would think you would find some pride in that fact since if you are an AA most of your ancestors came from that continent.

Is the myth destroyed?? I think the perception is still there just like the perception that Blacks are the greatest beneficiaries of Affirmative Action. It is well know that other minority groups benefited more from Affirmative Action but the perception (or your word myth) is still there.

No article will take a perception (myth) away. It will take more than that.

I just don't understand this. I am nigerian of course but I was born here in the United states. And I from their standards "don't LOOK african!!" I get this all the time, I know you guys know what im talking about. Alot of African Americans try to make fun of my people, until they realize that IM AFRICAN. I just don't understand the logic that many have. Do you guys know what I'm talking about??

So they werent BORN in AFRICA, but their heritage is there, matter of fact it is the MOTHER LAND OF ALL heritages?

I just don't understand why they look down on Africa?

If you born in the States, you should be able to answer that very easily.

Well african americans arent the only ones. Any way i study hard and work hard and save all of my money. My african guys friends buy what ever i need. I'm not like some american blacks that spend more money than i have coming in. Any way why does a nigerian care what an african american is spending or saving?

Turing this thread into a AA v. Nigerian, and who is worse does nothing to help anyone. It is just perpetuates nonsense and doesn't really allow people to talk about solutions. As I stated earlier, this thread would have been better suited if solutions were put out there and people could talk about if they would work or not. That is constructive.

I agree with this and think Bomani did a good thing in creating it. This would have a been a better post than what you presented before. Questions like:

Does this make any sense? Does propose anything positive?

Rather than just stating a problem that is obvious like you did in the beginning.
