My major take in this game is how limited we are in the midfield.. The Portuguese, swarmed us, pressed us into submission and blocked passing lanes.. Iwobi couldn't find any line breaking passes today.. Even our goal came from route 1 Football.. Okoye to Akor Same thing with the chance that Chukwueze squandered The search for players must continue.. Let's prioritize LBs and technically adept midfielders abeg..
This midfield cannot take us to the next level Portugal showed us that next level and we folded That we still remained competitive is a testament to the good work Chelle has done on this team
Leao be like Chukwueze Immensely talented but also inconsistent If he brings his A game on Wednesday, he go torment our RB tire.. We just pray he brings his 'other days' performance
Goke7: Oga the YouTube page I watched the friendly match had 30k views which tells you how Nigerians will do anything to watch the eagles no matter the conditions we are still one of the largest passionate fans out there
Na NFF dey dull us By now they should have developed that their NFF TV to show all our national team games
Massive player!! What a debut!!?? Dude didn't look out of place at all He wan even kill Zalewski for that wing Dude put in 3 okay crosses Defended his area well I noticed Onyeka wasn't finding his runs I believe that would be worked on in training..
At this rate, I no fear Portugal again Bewene is fearless Him go chop Rafael Leao, even Neto for dinner.. Reminds me of a young Chidi Ordiah I even see the step overs sef!
Bring on Portugal!!
And we are winning the next 2 AFCONs!!! Let's go!!!
minfelix: after all said and argued….i will still trust Maduka to man the post for super eagles…he is not a bad keeper
He is not bad We are just pointing out areas we feel he should improve Even this Nwabali, when he was also acting up, we beat him with sticks here Na normal thing
TheSuperNerd: Still in the top 3 moments... but that Poland belter is surely number 1. Lol
Okoye made fine stops today but his positioning and anticipation for that polish 2nd goal (#1 moment of the friendly) was simply below par. For a Serie A GK, he was meant to do better.
You cannot blame the defence for that strike. Anyone doing so does not know ball. Would the defence leave their positions, bypass their midfield and go press a player positioned deep in midfield close to the center circle? Answer is no.
'Cant blame the midfield either nor the forwards because every outfield player had a passing lane covered or was set up to mark the very next pass. A pass that never came because someone decided to hit a long ranger from way out in midfield which Okoye was highly expected to see all the way. It was a lapse and a reminder of why Nwabali will always remain in the #1 convo as long as he stays unretired.
But in all, Okoye had a decent game. The last min blip pain shaa.
You've said it all doc Properly analyzed Nothing else to add
Odunayaw: Yes. That first plant of his right leg was reflexive as he saw the ball so he just pushed his body from that momentum from that leg to jump to the left.
I hate that it came at the last minute but it's not something to beat him with
Odunayaw: Imo the first step to the right was to plant his right feet to dive left.
The course changed, yes but he saw it and only misjudged how far to his left it will go.
It's not a goal to beat him up with. This and the Russia game already has settled his quality for me.
This would have been a simple save, swerving shot or not He just needed to step to the left The distance from the kicker was enough to adjust his positioning before the ball landed
mank1234: Not true. Even from that angle the ball showed sign of tilting to his left outside the 18. He didn't make any move. He jumped from same spot he was when the ball was kicked.
Two steps to the left and he's saving that, and retiring Nwabali Now he has made himself a placeholder till Nwabali returns
minfelix: Small thing people will same “why are you guys emotional” oga if okoye had saved that shot Nwabali would by now be kissing that nomber 1 shirt goodbye…Forget how the polish player played the shot, topnotch savers will save that ball… Ball wasn’t deflected oo, the was coming straight at him…he simply did not position him self to punch that shot away….that was a punchable saving shot…the ball beating Okoye made the polish goal look like one extraordinary goal
God bless you for that bolded wey you talk You will never lack
ThunderFireAgba: I doubt Aina will be interested in continuing to play for the super eagles... If he does, I don't think he will be committed 100% NFF do that guy strong thing. Missed 3 consecutive world cup.
ThunderFireAgba: Nwabali that kept us in the game against DRC for 120mins when out midfield collapsed and Ndidi and Onyeka were running around like headless chickens
Bro!!! Okoye is in a better club, but Nwabali is the better goal keeper, atleast in the SE
FiveFootNinja: If there's anything I've learned watching SE games for the past 4-5 years, whenever the game enters the final 10 mins, just grab your Bible and your anointing oil and start praying. Nigeria Super Eagles anything can happen in the dying minutes.
To be fair, it was just 15-20 secs to end the match No one expected the guy to release that belter Again, I get your point though We've got to lock in till the ref blows
Clint02: Exactly what I'm implying. This started from a point in the first half through the whole of the 2nd half. I had already predicted Poland to either win or draw before our penalty, based on what I was watching. I wasn't surprised at all when a buddy alerted me that they've equalised 2-2.
