CrimeN5m Fraud: I Spent Money On International Anti-corruption Day ― Jailed Ex-chairm by Le124(op): 8:18pm On Jul 16, 2020
Alexander Micah Paman, the former Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, ACTU, of the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja who was jailed 12 years by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja over N5 million fraud had claimed he spent the money “for the celebration of the International Anti-Corruption
Paman, an assistant director was sentenced following a charge by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC. The convict was alleged to have made false retirement of N4.9 million for the N5 million approved by the Permanent Secretary on December 4, 2014, for the observance of the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2014, contrary to Section 16 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. He was also accused of diverting the sum of N400,000 donated for the same purpose by the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, contrary to Section 19 of the said Act. A statement that was signed by the spokesperson of the ICPC, Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, disclosed that the convict had while defending his actions, told the court that the money was actually spent for the celebration of the International Anti-Corruption Day. He was said to have furnished the court with unsubstantiated and unreceipted retirement claims.
In his desperate bid to cover-up the diversion of the N400,000, he claimed that the amount was used for media, whereas the false retirement he made in respect of the N4.9 million included media coverage. “His claims were however pushed back by counsel to ICPC, Ekoi Akponimisingha, with evidence that Paman had used part of the N4.9 million to pay the media as contained in the false retirement and had diverted the N400,000 for his personal use”, the statement added. In his judgement, Justice O. A. Adeniyi, held that the prosecution successfully proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the convict failed to use the money for the purpose it was meant for. The court, therefore, sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment for making false returns, and five years for abuse of office and conferring corrupt advantage on himself. The sentence, according to the court, will run concurrently.
PoliticsSIMPLE AGENDA: Ize-iyamu Plagiarising My Intellectual Property ― Pedro Obaseki by Le124(op): 7:58pm On Jul 16, 2020
CONVENER of Midwest Movement, Dr Don Pedro Obaseki, has insisted that APC Candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is running with a stolen campaign manifesto, the SIMPLE Agenda, which he said belongs to him. Obaseki said he first publicly unveiled the SIMPLE Agenda in August 2015 during a live programme on BENTV UK, where he presented his six-pronged campaign manifesto as an aspirant for the 2016 governorship election in Edo State.
He said in a statement: “It has come to my attention that people have been advertising their campaign manifesto to be the SIMPLE Agenda, which is a direct lifting of my ideas I shared publicly in 2015. “My SIMPLE idea is an acronym for Security and Social Welfare; Infrastructure Development and Urban Renewal; Manpower Development and Training; Public-Private Partnership; Leadership by Example and Employment for Edo Youths. This is the same as what the Pastor and his followers are parading online today. “So, I state categorically that I would be commencing processes for retrieving my Intellectual Property, as it is obvious that the idea did not originate from those who are pushing on with it today
Countering, Pastor Ize-Iyamu said Pedro Obaseki’s claims ”are frivolous and could put him in serious trouble with the law. His first attempt to claim ownership of the SIMPLE agenda, an acronym and manifesto conceived and developed by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was during an interview on Ben TV, believing that he could use the mental strength of another to make himself look good without his knowledge or notice.” The APC flagbearer in a statement by John Mayaki, Chairman, Edo State APC Media Campaign Council, said: ”Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu had invited Don Pedro Obaseki and a few other persons to a meeting in 2013 in the residence of Mr Osaretin Edosomwan where he shared the SIMPLE agenda idea, a culmination of his thoughts on how to move Edo State forward, and made clear his intention to run for the office of Governor on the manifesto. The acronym and the driving idea perhaps left a lasting impression on Don Pedro, who would then go on TV to claim it. But when this was brought to the attention of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pedro Obaseki showed remorse, apologized, and the large-hearted Pastor Ize-Iyamu forgave him for the grievous offence. As a matter of fact, he held another interview, and several others after that, where he clarified that the idea of the SIMPLE agenda originated from Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Don Pedro Obaseki supported Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s governorship bid in 2016 when he ran with the same manifesto and acronym without a word or contention. His turn-around is without doubt political and a shameful advertisement of his lack of scruples. Don Pedro Obaseki has not only reduced himself to backing a candidate he vehemently opposed in 2016, but he is also now offering himself as a tool for hatchet jobs and baseless propaganda without minding what it would do to his name and what is left of his integrity

What stress are you even talking about here, she goes to her place of work that she has been going long before they got married. And she still do her house work has a single lady ,so why can't she take some responsibility as a woman should. Is that too much to ask
khia:
So the man should push it all on the woman, you aren't making any sense? It's a partnership that should be shared.

Thanks, getting back on his fit is what we have been working on
Martinez39s:
I don't see anything wrong here except your ego is too large. She is providing while he does the chores and other things, this is just how it is in a traditional household where the man is the head and provider.

If the guy was assisting in the house chores while he provided 100% in the past, I could understand the mild betrayal of his wife going fully traditional on him now that the tables have turned. grin That is why you must swallow the red pill. Your wife, including all women, won't cut you any slack when they are in charge and you depend on them no matter what you have done for them in the past. For every penny she spends providing, she must get it back from the husband in form of the traditional roles of a wife (that's the best she can do now). She won't cut him some slack. It doesn't matter if he pampered her and never demanded traditional roles from her. Even if he says "taking care of the kids is too stressful," as many women do to cunningly avoid the responsibility of doing house chores alone and make their beta simp husbands assist them in the chores, his wife won't be having any of that.

This is why I shake my head at the beta provider men that help their wives wash plates and shout "your wives is not a slave." They don't know the pepper, slavery and disrespect that are coming to them from their wives when they go broke and their wives are financially in charge. I won't be surprised if the woman is keeping late nights and openly playing with other men to the knowledge of the husband. Let's not even talk about the disrespect and rude attitude (especially in the way she talks to him). Let's not talk about the resentment she will have at "broke useless husband," and the sexless nights. grin

OP, tell your friend to carry his cross and try to get his money up. You can't expect a woman (or man) to provide 100% and do the chores when the other person is there. Finally, hope that a higher bidder doesn't come along because she will monkey branch and take the kids. It pays to take the red pill.

NB: I am being objective here. I don't want to sugarcoat anything. Try not to bring your emotions into this.

Both of them has a job before getting marry, when I said he goes extra mile for, I know what am talking about. His even in debt because of somethings he did for his wife
Ayemileto:
Also, except you've been living with them all along, you can't say he goes extra miles for his wife.

From your write up, it's easy to deduce the woman already has a job before the man lost his, because you don't expect me to believe she got a job immediately the man stopped working, so she have the capacity to do some things for herself.

And during those times, she does house chores and take care of the baby according to your story.

But now, he's probably staying at home full time.

So, like I said in my previous comment, get your friend a Job, and things will most likely sort itself out because the woman will have no excuse for her current behaviour.

Should a woman abandon her primary duty just because she is the one bringing the money
khia:
You people get on my last nerve, so the husband is supposed to sit on his lazy ass all day and contribute nothing while the wife goes to work, come home and do all the house chores, cook, and take care of the child? You guys need better home training, you are too damn spoiled. You don't ever care if your wife is exhausted. Pathetic.

I have a friend who has everything going on well for him,he provides for the house and take very good care of his wife, even go an extra miles sometimes to make sure his wife does not lack anything. But events turn around when the guy lost his job and things becomes very difficult for the man.
But the wife his working, suddenly the wife stop cooking for the man and said the man should be doing his cooking, later on because of the covid 19 issue, there one of less down 2hrs can't go to K.G. the man took over too. And now for more than 4months now the man is the one cleaning the house, cooking, washing dishes, and bathing with feeding there son, and the wife will just go to work and come back eat from the man's cooked food and then go to bed and start pressing her fone.
But she makes sure that there is food in the house and food for there son to eat.
All effort to talk to her has proved abortive. Even her Pastor and some relations have step in and still no change she always capitalise on the fact that she goes out to prove food for the family. That her husband his not even appreciative enough. So she didn't see anything wrong in all what the husband is doing in the house
Please what should my friend do?
Please this is a serious issue. Please

CrimeCourt Adjourns Suit Seeking Uzodinma’s Sack Until July 20 by Le124(op): 6:46pm On Jul 15, 2020
The Federal High Court Abuja, has adjourned until July 20, a suit filed by Reform and Advancement Party (RAP) and its 2019 governorship candidate, Mr Okere Kingdom asking the court to restrain Gov. Hope Uzodinma from acting as Imo governor.
When the matter was called on Wednesday, Kingdom told the court that he filed an application praying the court to abridge the time within which the defendants would file their responses. Under the rule of law, the defendants have 30 days to respond but the plaintiff told the court that he made the application for the court to abridge the time due to the urgency of the matter.
Kingdom, who is also a lawyer, maintained that the matter was of constitutional importance because Uzodinma was occupying the seat of Imo governor illegally, having not participated in the 2019 election as a candidate of any political party. All the defendants objected to the application on the grounds that they needed the time given by the constitution to respond. Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Mr Alhassan Umar, SAN, told the court that in line with the principles of fair hearing, the defendants needed to take sufficient time as allocated by the law to respond. He argued that the plaintiff could not take the required time to file his processes only to ask the court to abridge the time for the respondents. The judge, Justice Okon Abang adjourned the matter until July 20 to hear the application. The judge also directed that hearing notices should be served on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the party was not represented in court. RAP and its 2019 governorship candidate, Mr Okere Kingdom approached the court seeking judicial interpretation on whether the All Progressives congress (APC) indeed sponsored Gov. Uzodinma in the 2019 Imo governorship election. Kingdom said that the suit was predicated on the judgment of the Supreme Court which affirmed Uche Nwosu as the duly nominated 2019 Imo governorship candidate of the APC. He said that one of the issues he wanted the court to determine was whether Uzodinma lawfully participated and was sponsored by the APC to contest the 2019 Imo governorship election in accordance with Section 177 (c) of the 1999 Constitution. “This is having regard to the tenor, clear and unambiguous legal implications/consequences of the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in appeal no: SC/1384/2019 which upheld the decision of both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court and affirmed Uche Nwosu as the authentic and duly elected/nominated 2019 Imo State governorship candidate of the APC.
PoliticsEdo 2020: Timipre Sylva Vows Victory For APC, Says Obaseki’s Incumbency A Ruse by Le124(op): 8:44pm On Jul 14, 2020
ABUJA: Minister of State, Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva has declared that the All Progressives Congress APC would win the September 19 governorship election in Edo state, dismissing as a ruse, the supposed power of incumbency being wielded by Gov. Godwin Obaseki. Sylva who chairs the Contact and Mobilization Committee of the APC National Campaign Council of the Edo State Governorship Election made the declaration on Tuesday shortly after the inaugural meeting of the committee.

He accused the Peoples Democratic Party PDP of stealing the APC mandate in Bayelsa and Edo, but expressed delight that the situation in Edo occurred just few months to the elections, which he said is another opportunity to return the state to the ruling party.

He said; “All of us in the South-South believe that this election must be won. Edo state is our only APC state in the South-South. A few months ago, as you are all aware, they took Bayelsa State from us through the back door after we won the election and now through the back door again, they have taken Edo state but luckily we have the opportunity of reclaiming Edo state in a few weeks from now and every South-South APC member is of the consensus that we must reclaim Edo. It is our stronghold in the region and therefore we are all geared up, we will all go to Edo state. We want to assure you that you should not entertain any doubt that Edo state will be an APC state very soon come September 19.

“Election is not all about finance. First if you say the power of incumbency, it is an APC incumbency that has been stolen by the PDP. So, that kind of incumbency has a comma and that is why we believe that such incumbency will not work. The Edo people know that Edo state is for APC and I want to assure you that we are in touch with our people in Edo state and we know that we are the dominant party in Edo state and we are going to win this election”.

Christianity EtcOnline Church Service Unbiblical, Says Okotie by Le124(op): 6:51pm On Jul 14, 2020
Pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries in the Oregun area of Lagos State, Reverend Chris Okotie, says online church service, which has become the order of the day due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is unscriptural.
He argued that Christians must physically gather together to be able to truly worship God.Okotie, in a sermon titled, ‘The COVID-19 Mystery’, maintained that the novel disease is a satanic conspiracy to challenge the power of God by keeping Christians out of the church.
Okotie said, “We are dealing with one of the most sinister conspiracies in human history. What we call the online church is absolutely untrue, because for you to be in church, you have to be ecclesia, which is translated from the Greek word, ec, which is out, and the word caleo, called out.You cannot gather unto God until you are called out. That’s why Israel was called out of the world. So, this thing, this phenomenon that we are talking about, the Internet and cyber churches, is totally unscriptural.God knows where you are; if He was not interested in the assembly, you don’t need to come to church; you can pray in your house. I pray in my house. You praise in your house. I praise in my house. He can see all of us. He doesn’t need computers. But that denies Him who He is; so, we must – that’s why the bible puts that verse as an imperative – you must not forsake the assembly of yourselves together.”
PoliticsImo AG Urges Panels To Suspend Okorocha Probe by Le124(op): 6:41pm On Jul 14, 2020
The Imo State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Cyprian Akaolisa, has advised the numerous panels set up by the state government to investigate the eight-year administration of former Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to suspend their proceedings.
The AG’s lawyer, Debo Ikeusan, said this on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja while reporting compliance with an earlier undertaking to halt the proceedings of the panels pending when the court would determine whether or not it had jurisdiction to hear the suit instituted by Okorocha.Okorocha had, through his lawyer, Oba Maduabuchi (SAN), during the previous proceedings of July 8, 2020, urged the court to make an order of interim injunction suspending the panels’ proceedings.
But Justice Mohammed rejected the request.
He said he would rather go by the undertaking made by Mr. Joseph Mola, who appeared for the AG and members of the various panels at the July 8, 2020 proceedings, to advise the AG to inform the panels to halt sittings in respect for the pending court case.
The judge had then adjourned till Wednesday for a report of compliance with the undertaking and with the court’s directive for the AG and the rest of the defendants to file a formal application challenging the court’s jurisdiction which they claimed the court lacked to hear Okorocha’s suit.
On Wednesday, Ikeusan informed the judge that he had filed the notice of preliminary objection and that Okorocah’s lawyers had responded to it.
He also said he complied with the undertaking made on behalf of the AG on July 8.He said, “We have advised the panels, especially the 3rd to the10th defendants, who are the members of the probe panel set up by the Imo State Government, to desist from any action or conduct that will overreach or prejudice the determination of the suit.

But Okorocha’s lawyer, Emeka Okoye, insisted that the panel, particularly the Justice E. C Iheaka-led Imo State Probe Panel on awards of Contracts from May 2006 to May 2017, joined as the 3rd to the 10th defendants in the suit, had continued with its proceedings till Monday. In response, Justice Mohammed asked Okoye to file an affidavit deposing to the fact that the panel continued sitting.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission sued as the 1st defendant in the case was not represent by any lawyer on Tuesday.

Ikuesan said his law firm had made futile efforts to have the commission served with the processes his clients had filed against the suit.

But Okoye said he had successfully served the commission with the originating summons and other processes, advised the defence lawyer to engage the court bailiffs instead of his chambers’ staff members.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed advised Ikuesan to explore the suggestion by Okoye, then adjourned till July 21 for a report of service and possible hearing.

He ordered that hearing notice be served on EFCC.

Okorocha, who currently represents Imo West in the Senate, had on May 18, 2020 filed his suit seeking an order stopping the 48 respondents in the suit from to stop probing “purported financial infractions” said to have been committed during his tenure as Governor of Imo State between May 2011 and May 2019.
CrimeI Started Having Sex With My Daughter In 2017, Not 2015 – Pastor by Le124(op): 2:33pm On Jul 10, 2020
Daud Olatunji, Abeokuta

The Ogun State Police Command, on Thursday, paraded 103 suspects for allegedly being involved in cultism, vandalism and armed robbery, among others.

Fifty of the suspects were said to be members of the Eiye and Aiye confraternities and were nabbed while planning to wreak havoc on the state. The command had on Sunday raised the alarm that members of a notorious cult were planning to launch a state-wide campaign of terror and violence on the state.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, said the suspects were arrested at different locations in the state.

Ebrimson explained that on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at a hideout in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state, operatives from the Ifo Division arrested nine suspected cultists while planning their 7/7 day.

He stated that on July 6, 2020, three members of the group were arrested for planning to launch a bloody attack the following day on the Epe garage area of Ijebu-Ode.

Similarly, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad during a patrol in Abeokuta arrested nine members of the Aiye Confraternity in different parts of the state capital.

The CP explained that the Inspector-General of Police Squad, while working on an intelligence report, cordoned-off two hotels in Ijoko-Ota, where 27 members of the Eiye Confraternity were apprehended.

Ebrimson said, “Upon information received about the activities of the Aiye group to launch an attack on their yearly 7/7 day celebration, operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit, led by DSP Muyiwa Adeosun, swung into action and went straight to an unnamed hotel in Ogijo, where some suspected cult members were holding their meeting.

“Immediately they sighted the police, they took to their heels, but three of them were arrested. Also, following information about the planned cult anniversary scheduled to hold on July 7 across the state, the IGP-IRT, Ogun State annex, working on an intelligence report, cordoned-off the Ade Royal Hotel and the Delkish Hotel, both at Gasline, Ijoko-Ota, where members of the group converged to hold a meeting on the planned havoc on July 7; in the process, 27 members of the Eiye Confraternity were apprehended.”

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oluwakemi Oyebola, who was arrested for allegedly impregnating his own daughter and procuring abortion for her three times, has attributed his action to “the devil’s arrow” targeted at him.

Oyebola, who was among the 103 suspected criminals paraded, said he could not fathom why he engaged in the incestuous relationship with his daughter.

The cleric, who was paraded alongside the nurse, who allegedly carried out the abortions, added that having sex with his daughter was not intentional. He also denied that he began to have sex with the victim in 2015 as alleged by the police, adding that the relationship started in 2017.

The cleric also said he procured abortion for his daughter just once and not thrice.

Oyebola said, “I was hit by the devil’s arrow targeted at me by my enemies. I could not fathom how I began having sex with my own daughter. It is a shameful act, I agree. But unlike what was reported in the media, I only began to have sex with her in 2017 and not 2015 as claimed by the police. Also, the abortion I procured for her was just once and not thrice.

“I regret my action and I have sought forgiveness from my daughter. She has forgiven me as she came to plead with the CP on my behalf on Wednesday. I want to sincerely beg for forgiveness from Nigerians; my action was unheard of and I seriously regret it.”

The nurse, Monilola Ogundimu, denied terminating any pregnancy for the girl.

Ogundimu, who said she was the Assistant Matron and Head, Family Planning Unit, Idiroko General Hospital, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state, stated that she only helped the girl with a family planning method as instructed by her father.

She added that until her arrest by the police, she did not know that the man was the girl’s father, as he presented her as his housemaid and not daughter.
CrimeHow I Delivered $70m To Banker On Diezani’s Instructions –witness by Le124(op): 2:15pm On Jul 10, 2020
A former group general manager at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation narrated to the Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday how he delivered 12 padlocked bags containing $70m to an Abuja-based banker on the instructions of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, sometime in 2015.

The ex-NNPC GM appeared as a prosecution witness in the trial of a former executive director, First Bank, Dauda Lawal, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on money laundering charges. The EFCC accused Lawal of handling $25m out of a total of $153m, which Diezani allegedly doled out to influence the 2015 general elections.

The trial opened on Thursday before Justice Muslim Hassan, with the ex-NNPC GM appearing as the first prosecution witness.

Being led in evidence by the EFCC prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, the witness narrated how he delivered the cash-loaded bags to the Abuja banker, one Charles, in the front of Dume Supermarket in Abuja.

The witness said, “My Lord, as I can remember, shortly before the 2015 elections, it was the norm for heads of subsidiaries (of the NNPC) to be invited for undisclosed briefing of activities of their departments to the minister.

“At the end of such briefings, the then Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, gave me a GSM number in respect of one Charles, whom I had never met, with a clear instruction that I should convey 12 padlocked bags to the said Charles.

“My Lord, the source, the content, and the purpose of the bags were not disclosed to me. Thereafter, I called the said Charles, who equally confirmed to me that he had been briefed about the message. I delivered the bags to Charles.“Much later, My Lord, the EFCC invited me for interrogation on the issue and I made a statement to that effect. Charles equally confirmed at the EFCC that he received the 12 padlocked bags and the bags contained the sum of $70m.”
PoliticsBuhari Fair To Southeast Despite Low 2015, 2019 Votes – Adesina by Le124(op): 1:57pm On Jul 10, 2020
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said his principal has been fair to the Southeast region in political appointments and infrastructural projects.

The spokesperson said the President has treated the region fair enough “despite the sparse number of votes in the South East in 2015 and 2019 elections”.Adesina stated this on Friday in a column entitled, ‘Buhari & S’East: Arthur Eze Nails It’ which was published on his website.

He said despite Buhari’s “strong commitment towards transforming every part of the country”, some “people with primordial antipathy” could not see anything good in the President’s regime.

“It is disingenuous for anyone to claim that President Buhari does not like any part of the country, most especially the South East,” he said.

He added that “69 different projects (were) being undertaken by the Federal Government in South East alone, all amounting to about N680 billion. Of course, top on the list is the Second River Niger Bridge, which was built with mouth in the 16 years of the People’s Democratic Party in power. That is President Buhari for you. He gives every man his due, every region what they deserve. Fairness to all.

“Despite the sparse number of votes in the South East in 2015 and 2019 elections, would we be right to say the entire region is arrayed against the President?

“For President Buhari, when he does anything in any part of the country, he does it because it’s the right and fair thing to do. Most of the 69 projects going on in the southeast had been awarded before 2015. But they were never funded. The Redeemed Christian Church of God has sacked an Assistant Pastor of the church in Akure, Ondo State, Mr Gideon Bakare.
The church also relieved him of all ministerial duties in the mission.
Bakare was recently accused of attempting to sleep with a woman in her matrimonial home in Akure.

In a viral video, the pastor is seen naked as the church member sits beside him while her family films the event.

The woman, in the video, accuses Bakare of wanting to sleep with her, as the cleric begs for mercy.

She also threatens to call his wife to see what he has done.

The RCCG, in a statement by the Head, Media, and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, on Thursday, said the church dissociated itself from the immoral act.

He described it as “completely contrary to the core values, doctrines, beliefs and practices of the RCCG and the undiluted word of God.”

“The church, after reviewing the report of its investigation, noted that by his conduct, Bakare has not only tainted his personal reputation but has portrayed the Church in a bad light.

“Mr Bakare has therefore been directed to return all official items in his custody and stay off all associated connections with the mission with immediate effect,” the statement added.

BusinessFace Mask Can Cause Failed ATM Transactions – Banks by Le124(op): 1:32pm On Jul 09, 2020
Banks have advised customers to remove their face masks when carrying out transactions through Automated Teller Machines to ensure that their faces are properly recognised.

Findings revealed that some banks have installed face detection features in their ATMs which can prevent an ATM from dispensing cash if it is unable to recognise the face of the user. While the banks have introduced the wearing of face masks as a condition to enter the banking halls, they have also advised customers to remove it when they want to withdraw money from ATMs.

In an email to its customers on measures to keep transactions protected, Fidelity Bank said, “Wearing of face masks is a safety and precautionary measure we must all adhere to in this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

PoliticsFG Didn’t Promise To Keep Petrol Price Low – Minister by Le124(op): 1:26pm On Jul 09, 2020
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has said the Federal Government did not at any time promise to keep the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) permanently low.
Sylva also said the government had concluded that it could no longer bear the burden of petrol subsidy.

The minister said these in a statement published on Thursday on the ministry’s Instagram page, with the title ‘Deregulation: The facts and the reasons behind the policy’.

“After a thorough examination of the economics of subsidising PMS for domestic consumption, the Federal Government concluded that it was unrealistic to continue with the burden of subsidising PMS to the tune of trillions of naira every year, more so when this subsidy was benefiting in large part the rich, rather than the poor and ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

According to him, deregulation means that the government will no longer continue to be the main supplier of petroleum products but will encourage the private sector to take over the role of supplying the products.

“This means also that market forces will henceforth determine the prices at the pump. In line with global best practices, the government will continue to play its traditional role of regulation to ensure that this strategic commodity is not priced arbitrarily by private sector suppliers,” Sylva said.

He likened the regulatory function to the role played by the Central Bank of Nigeria in the banking sector, “ensuring that commercial banks do not charge arbitrary interest rates”.

The minister said, “Petroleum products are refined from crude oil. Therefore, the price of crude (the feedstock) for the refining process will affect the price of the refined product

Christianity EtcEnough Is Enough, Reopen Churches Now, CAN Tells Lagos, Others by Le124(op): 5:04pm On Jul 07, 2020
The Christian Association of Nigeria has called on the Lagos State Government to reopen churches in the state.

The Christian body also asked the Ogun State Government as well as other states yet to do so to reopen worship centres, saying, “the continued lockdown order on the places of worship is no longer acceptable and reasonably justified”.This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant on Media and Communications to CAN President, Samson Ayokunle.

The Federal Government had in March ordered the closure of religious centres as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

But CAN argued that despite the directive on the reopening of religious centres in the country by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the states were yet to comply.

CAN statement titled, “Reopen All Churches Now: Enough is Enough – CAN” partly read, “Despite the directive given by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 with regards to the re-opening of places of worship nationwide, some states like Lagos and Ogun are yet to allow worship places, especially churches, to be reopened. What sin have the places of worship committed?

“With the sudden emergence of the coronavirus pandemic, the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria at all levels, agreed with the government on the need to close down the places of worship, economy, schools and every other facet of life.

The former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr. Sunday Abegunde, on Monday said the Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, didn’t win the election in 2016 but that some of them made it possible for him to become governor.
He also said he had to resign from the Akeredolu-led government following the ill-treatment meted out to him by the governor for the three and a half years he was with him.
The former SSG said these in an interview he granted in the Yoruba language on Crest FM, Akure, shortly after he tendered his resignation to the state governor in a letter he personally signed on Monday.

The resignation letter titled ‘Letter of Resignation’ read, “I, Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State hereby tender my letter of resignation.

“I want to thank Mr Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve the Government and people of Ondo State.

“Again, my family and I wish Mr Governor quick recovery.”

He boasted that he was one of the APC chieftains who worked vigorously for Akeredolu to ensure he was made the governor in 2016.

He said, “I suffered in his (Akeredolu) administration because he didn’t release any fund for my office grants. He has been telling lies that he was giving me N5m every month even when he knew he didn’t give me such money.
