Career / Re: Why Are Motorcyclists Called Okada Riders? by leavegoodbehind(m): 7:55pm On Nov 27, 2023
OKADA Rida are call OKADA because, in the past in this country, we use to have Nigeria Air Way plane, they were not as fast as jet, so when Igbenedion started the OKADA Air, it was very fast, so when in Benin , they stated the use of motorcycle as a means of transportation, and because it move fast and beat the traffic, they name it OKADA.

Politics / Re: Adams Oshiomhole Asks Saraki To Step Down After His Defection by leavegoodbehind(m): 3:35pm On Aug 02, 2018
Oshiomhole has lost it all, remember in 2014 when Tambuwal Aminu Waziri was the speaker, he defected from PDP to APC , Oshiomhole hail the action then, and Tambuwal was there till he won the Governorship election in Sokoto state and this happen when he was leaving as a speaker to become a Governor.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, will continue presiding over the affairs of the House after May 29 as the substantive Speaker, as Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, steps down to take oath of office as elected Governor of Sokoto State.
This position was disclosed by Tambuwal, who said it was the result of series of technical meetings the lawmakers held on the matter, which according to him, was not envisaged by the constitution.
Tambuwal will cease to be a member of the House by May 29 when he takes oath as governor of his home state of Sokoto, a week before the tenure of the lawmakers expires.
The question did he step down NO. So Bukola Saraki cannot step down because the APC is divided and there is a faction as at today.

Crime / Police At Kirikiri Police Post Extorting Money From Trailer Driver by leavegoodbehind(m): 6:41pm On Apr 05, 2018
I wish to draw the attention of commissioner of police, Lagos state what his men are doing at OKODUWA STREET KIRIKIRI TOWN, every day, some police officers will be collecting money from the trailers drivers that parked on the road as if they are now tax collector, if any of the driver fail to pay the police charges, the trailer tyres will be deflated and the police will beat hell out of the driver and the conductor, while the once that pay will be left untouched, and allow them to park.
Again this police officers have now turn themselves in to area boys, they will open the trailer door and remove their number plate or some vital part of the trailer as they now go out with spanner and other tools.

I leant that each trailer pays #2000 naira every day, and you have more than 40 trailers that illegally parked on this road. In the first place trailers are not supposed to park on this road, but the police who now suppose to ensure that these trailers are not parked on the road are now encouraging them to do so in other to be collecting money from them on daily basis. Because of this altitude of this few police officers from kirikiri police post, the road is now congested, therefore the commissioner of police Lagos state should take note,: is either they stop the trailers from parking on the road and arrest any defaulter since they are not suppose to park on that road in the first place or if they cannot do so, then they should stop collecting money from them and allow them to park on the road.
Politics / Statutory Functions Of Local Governments by leavegoodbehind(m): 12:45pm On Mar 27, 2018
STATUTORY FUNCTIONS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 provides in the Fourth Schedule the main functions of Local Governments in Nigeria as follows: –
(a)the consideration and the making of recommendations to a State Commission on Economic Planning or any similar body on:
(i) the economic development of the State, particularly in so far as the areas of authority of the Council and of the State are affected, and
(ii) proposals made by the said Commission or body;
(b) collection of rates, radio and television licences;
(c) establishment and maintenance of cemeteries, burial grounds and homes for the destitute or infirm;
(d) licensing of bicycles, trucks (other than mechanically-propelled trucks), canoes, wheel barrows and carts;
(e) establishment, maintenance and regulation of slaughter houses, slaughter slabs, markets, motor parks and public conveniences;
(f) construction and maintenance of roads, streets, street lightings, drains and other public highways, parks, gardens, open spaces, or such public facilities as maybe prescribed from time to time by the House of Assembly of a State;
(g) naming of roads and streets, and numbering of houses;
(h) provision and maintenance of public conveniences, sewage and refuse disposal;
(i) registration of all births, deaths and marriages;
(i) out-door advertising and hoarding;
(ii) movement and keeping of pets of all descriptions;
(iii) shops and kiosks;
(iv) restaurants, bakeries and other places for sale of food to the public,
(v) laundries, and
(vi) licensing, regulation and control of the sale of liquor.
Apart from these exclusive functions, the function of Local Governments shall include participation of such Councils in the government of a state as respects the following matters:
(a) the provision and maintenance of primary, adult and vocational education;
(b) the development of agriculture and natural resources other than the exploitation of minerals;
(c) the provision and maintenance of health services; and
(d) such other functions as may be conferred on a local Government Council by the House of Assembly of the State.
As provided for in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Local Governments have functions and responsibilities assigned.
Some of these functions are performed exclusively by the Local Government like the maintenance of cemeteries, markets and motor parks. On the other hand, some other functions and responsibilities are performed concurrently with the State Government. Among these concurrent functions are primary education, agriculture, health and any other functions that may be conferred on Local Government by the House of Assembly of the State. As can be seen, these various functions and responsibilities of Local Governments are quite enormous and demanding. The tragedy of the situation is that Local Governments have very limited and circumscribed sources of revenue to enable them execute meaningfully and effectively the functions and responsibilities assigned to them.
In my local government at Ajeromi Ifelodun in Ajegunle, we have not felt the presence of local government at all, take for instance, the road from otto – wharf to Achakpo have never been maintained for as provided in the constitution, the question begging for an answer, is what do the Ajeromi Local Government do with money that go to them? HOW IS YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT?, express your mind if indeed they are working now that you know their functions.

Politics / Re: Stop Comparing Level Of Incompetence, Leave Jonathan Alone – Aisha Tells Buhari by leavegoodbehind(m): 1:07pm On Mar 15, 2018
This Buhari is just a character, does he not know the reason(s) for voting for him was to move Nigeria forward, because if Nigerian feel that PDP have not done enough, by putting food on their table, good road, good education / affordable school fees, good hospital / enough drugs, capital per income of Nigerian ok, friendly business environment etc and then voted for Buhari, Buhari should know that what he needed to do was to fix Nigeria and not to give excuses.

Politics / Babatunde Raji Fashola, San: The Federal Minister Of Power, Works And Housing : by leavegoodbehind(m): 6:49pm On Jan 11, 2018
We wish to bring to your notice what is happening in my area, am writing to you with a deep sense of humility and greatness. I consider this a great opportunity to communicate with an entity as awe-inspiring as yourself. First I bring you greetings to you from residents of my area in Awodiora Ajegunle Lagos.

It is no longer news that the electricity supply crisis in this areas has jumped out of the frying pan into the fire in these street. It was bad enough under the private companies which are busy disbursing darkness but reaping billions as profit

We are surprise that when other places in lagos, like Surulere, Kirikiri Town, Mazamaza, Festac, and so on have improved with the supply of electricity, areas like Okito street, Omowomi street , Akerele street , Market street , Ladipo street, James igbe street , Chidi street , Dada onijomo crescent, Queen street , Odudu lane just to mention but few in awodiora Ajegunle, do not have supply of electricity, for example in a day they only have supply for just thirty (30) minutes , while in the night, no light at all, the worst is that during the weekend, there is no supply of electricity at all, but at the end of the month your marketer will start distributing bills.

It might interest you to know that in the same Ajegunle, while other areas that surround this street almost have supply of light all most 24 hours now, because of this, the EKEDP undertaken which was formally at Cardoso Street by Banana bus stop was move to 13 Cardoso street, opposite General hospital where they now have supply of light all most 24 hours on daily basis. note that the newly built court, general hospital, signal barrack, ojo road, boundary side and other areas from bus stop bus stop to boundary and mile2 always have light all most 24 hours

When we reported to the service manager in the Undertaken 13 Cardoso Street opposite the general hospital, he said there is nothing he can do that we should report to Marina or to Senator representing us, i.e. Hon Rita Orji, that he cannot solve the problem, that it was with help of Area boys, Signal barrack and Hon Rita Orji that make these other parts of Ajegunle to be having supply of electricity like other part of Lagos. We were surprise, based on the answer he gave us. Again the Service Manager said the major problem is the Control Manager at the Substation at Otoi Wharf, that it is the Control Manager that is causing the problem for us not having light.

So whenever light is restore in these area, while other street will have a bright light for the hour the light will stay, others street from Okito street, Omowomi street , Akerele street , Market street , Ladipo street, James igbe street , Chidi street , Dada onijomo crescent, Queen street , Odudu lane will be having candle light. The light only last for 30 minutes a day that is the day if there is light at all. Note The worst is that every weekend there will be no light, I repeat, every weekend there will be no light, you can imagine what these your customers are going through, especially when light have improve generally in Lagos, the Service Manager suggested to us to start recording the few minutes we are having light on daily basis and send it to him to enable him have the fact, since the Control Manager have decided to be giving us 30 minutes light daily, if there is light at all. Now Akerele, Ladipo and few houses in Cardoso Street are running out of patience , as they are about beating the marketer who serve them bill and incidentally the marketer live in the next street where they do have light about 20 hours a day as he is using two transformer.
We therefore will want you to use your esteem office to investigate these cases and do the following
1 To put us on 33 KVA
2 To give us light on daily basis to have sense of belonging like other people in
Lagos
Please repost and share untill it get to fashola.

Career / Re: Can A Soldier Resign From The Force? by leavegoodbehind(m): 2:44pm On Jan 07, 2018
Military Discharge. There is no way to simply quit the Army once you are on active duty. You are contractually, and perhaps morally, obligated to see your commitment through. However, you could be discharged from duty early if you are physically or psychologically unable to perform your Army duties.

"Can a girl tear her hymen through vigorous physical activity, as in sports games or horseback riding?" Yes, and many women/girls do experience this. Does it mean she is no longer a virgin? No, she is still a virgin.

Virginity is defined as not having experienced sexual intercourse (

Politics / Eko Electricity Distribution Company (ekedc)must Hear This And Urgently Act: by leavegoodbehind(m): 12:50pm On Dec 15, 2017
THE transmission company of Nigeria, TCN, on Thursday disclosed that it recorded new national peak electricity transmission capacity of 5,155.9 mega watt, mw, on December 8. The interim managing director of TCN, Usman gur-mohammed, made the disclosure at an interaction with journalists in Abuja.

let the authority take note: that in Ajegunle area, street like ladipo street, Mission street, Omowumi sreeet, Akerele street, Okito street, Otunoyo street, Market street, Odudu lane, Okobaba street, Queen street, Cardoso street, Ekundayo street, Otokoya street, Dada onijomo estate and about 7 others street ONLY HAVE LIGHT ( 1) ONE HOUR A DAY. While other parts of Ajegunle have light 12 hours a day, it might interest you to know that the undertaken were formally having office on our side at Banana bus stop, along Orege Achakpo road but the moment they stop giving us light, which they now give to Hotel people for their selfish gain, they now move their office to 13 Cardoso street along Achakpo/Boundary road opposite General Hospital in Ajegunle, where they now have light day and night in the same Ajegunle, lagos state

The people have protested to the undertaken severally,
Everywhere you go in Lagos light has improved, why is it that it is only in this area that do not have light at all, the people are in darkness for (24) twenty four hours

The light they are supposed to give to these communities is been given to the people that OWN HOTEL in the area, the culprit are the service manager at the undertaken and the control manager at the control room at otto-wolf, the manager do not want the hotel owners to spend money to buy diesel , while they give the money to this bad egg in your company, while we are suffering it.
The authority in charge should use their esteem office to give these communities light before they will do something bad to the organization and their staffs. Be warnED.
Politics / Fulfil Your Campaign Promises To Igbanke: by leavegoodbehind(m): 5:41pm On Nov 27, 2017
Fulfil your campaign promises to Igbanke

Igbanke is one of the few towns in Orhiomnwon Local Government Area of Edo State that is non bini in dialects. We speak Ika dialects and very closer to Delta State than we are to Edo.

Yes that may make some citizen feel closer being in Delta, but the truth is that we are now in Edo and for me, there is nothing we can do at present to change this fact.

But should this proximity to Delta state both in dialect and geographical position keep us in perpetual marginalization by this politicians in this dispensation?

On an ideal situation, a politician is supposed to keep to his campaign promises no matter how infinitesimal and or marginalised he or she might feel about the people.

Series of campaign promises has always been given and this ab initio has been part of the norm of these house if assembly members house of representative member and senators of our constituency.

Ignore Igbanke to your peril.

Political dispensation in and out, they see us as those who they can tell anything as promises to win our votes. Just like the fraudulent male customer to the prostitute-I will pay you next time .

They seems to take us like "Ogwomadia ri alie idu" .

POINT OF CORRECTION, WE ARE NOT.

Except for Oshiomhole who constructed road in his first tenure like an Inlaw trying to prove himself to the father Inlaw. He was excellent in his first tenure and we are very grateful to him and to our daddy and son of the soil who his position help to actualize the successful closure of these projects. The justice, our hands are up, to salute you for your good gesture to your people. Thank you sir!

Now we call on the senator- Mathew, of our constituency to fulfill his campaign promises to Igbanke people. "ome tuen eweheni ewen"(even if it's small, it does not bring itself).

We are yet to see any of your constituency project in Igbanke. Please quote me wrong if I am and I will humbly admit.

Be honorable enough Sir. Igbanke is still in Edo south.

Again we call on the house of representative member-Aisoweren Patrick to do same.

Though someone just said you bought some of your loyalist few motorcycle and or very few milling machine. That is arguably may not amount to what is due to us for our constituency project. Though our educated foot soldiers are investigating this.

Sir, it is not honorable enough to just take our vote for the sake of winning election. Na one time them day f**k ashawo without money.

We are wiser every day without violence. Our parents has put in our hands, pen and keyboard through education. We will write until you people adhere to your manifesto and fulfil your honorable promises to Igbanke.

I may not know if the house of assembly member-Nosa okunbor is doing anything except for some initial phase of market renovation which he initiated.

we insist he should complete as planned.

Please sir prove the close up of this execution with project pictures.

Like I keep saying, Our foot soldiers will confirm. "I be virgin nor be by mouth, until no hymen is observed broken by the local midwife

As a concerned citizen of Igbanke am using this post to call on all of you to live to the expectations of the people of Igbanke and keep to your campaign promises.

Being honorable means having integrity and keeping to your word. Give us what is ours

Politics / No Light In Akerele Str, Ladipo Str & Cardoso Str, In Awodiora Ajegunle Lagos, by leavegoodbehind(m): 7:04pm On Oct 18, 2017
We wish to bring to your notice what is happening in my area, AKERELE STREET, LADIPO STREET & CARDOSO STREET, IN AWODIORA AJEGUNLE LAGOS, am writing to THE SERVICE MANAGER EKO ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION PLC 24/25 Marina, Lagos Island, with a deep sense of humility and greatness.

It might interest you to know that all other areas that surround this street almost have supply of light one hours to one hour thirty minutes in a day, akerele street, ladipo street and cardoso street do no have light at all, because of this, the undertaken office which was formally at Cardoso Street was move to, opposite General hospital where they now have supply of light 12 hours on daily basis.

Let me make clear: in one tranformer that served us, you have-

1 one unite served the Oja market
2 one unit served a petrol station
3 one unit served Akerele, Ladipo and few houses in Cardoso Street

Note that the unit that served the petrol station and the Oja markert Fuse & Jumper that have more than 300 houses is ok, while the fuse and Jumper serving Akerele, Ladipo and few houses in Cardoso Street that have about 35 houses is always bad on daily basis. The question is why is it so. When we reported to the services manager in the Undertaken 13 Cardoso Street opposite the hospital, he said there is nothing he can do that we should report to Marina, that he cannot solve the problem, we were surprise, based on the answer he gave us. Again the Service Manager said the major problem is the Control Manager at the Substation at Otoi Wharf, that it is the Control Manager that is causing the problem for us not have light.

The light only lasted for about 30 minutes a day that is the day if there is light at all. Note The worst is that every weekend there will be no light, I repeat, every weekend there will be no light, they want us to be paying them before anything can be done, when we are paying our bills regularly, you can imagine what these your customers are going through, especially when light have improve generally in Lagos, the Service Manager suggested to us to start recording the few minutes or hour we are having light on daily basis and send it to him to enable him have the fact, since the Control Manager have decided to be giving us 30 minutes light daily, if there is light at all. Now Akerele, Ladipo and few houses in Cardoso Street are running out of patience , as they are about beating the marketer who serve them bill and incidentally the marketer live in the next street where they do have light about one hour thirty hours a day.

We therefore will want EKEDP to use your esteem office to investigate these cases and do the needful:

1 To put us on 33 KVA

2 Direct your service manager to work on the fuse and jumper serving our unit, since the two
other units serving Oja market and the petrol station in the same Oja transformer are always ok

3 To give us Light on daily basis to have sense of belonging like other people in Lagos

We want Lagos state national assembly, the house of representatives and the senator representing the community to fight for their people, otherwise, we will not vote for them again, enough is enough

Nairaland / General / Total Darkness At Okoduwa Street, Dillion Street, Comfort Oboh Street, For Years by leavegoodbehind(m): 6:07pm On Nov 30, 2016
TOTAL DARKNESS AT OKODUWA STREET, DILLION STREET, COMFORT OBOH STREET, FOR YEARS, AT KIRIKIRI INDUSTRIAL AREA, KIRIKIRI TOWN, LAGOS STATE

Okoduwa Street, Comfort Oboh Street and Dillion Street are located at Kirikiri Industrial Area, Kirikiri Town, Lagos State near Kirikiri prison.
At this age and time in Lagos State, these streets usually have light only one day in a week, and this light only lasted for about 4 hours which means that EKEDP only give high to these street only 16 hours in one month. Shamefully at the end of the month, they will deliver estimated exorbitant bill to the tune of N35, 000 for Darkness.
The irony of it all is that just one pole distance from these street, the other street, like AlahunOzumba, Mazamaza and First gate usually have light almost 24 hours every day, if you are going to work in the morning and coming back in the evening, you will see that this light are there, what a suffering that you see light everyday but you don’t have light.
When we went to the service manager to enquired why these street like Okoduwa Street, Comfort Oboh Street and Dillion Street are in Total Darkness while the next street is having light 24 hours every day, we were told that our light have been given to Bank, like Eco Bank, First Bank, Access Bank at mazamaza and Fidelity Bank and Diamond Bank at First gate
One wonder if we are in the same country, why Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) will choose whom to give light and whom not give. Is Nigeria now a zoo?
The worst is that when you report to service manager at beach land undertaken, he is so arrogant and you will wonder indeed how he became the manager.
The manager have decided to give light to these bank at the expense of these other Street because of what he take home apart from his salary every month. Enough is enough.
Again, we were surprised when the marketer told us that they are not the one presently computing the bills, that their boss at marina gives them these estimated bills and ask them to go and deliver it to their customers. Is Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN our Amiable minister reading this, because some bad eggs is almost destroying the good work you are doing, we therefore advice that the minister or whoever that is in charge to use his/her esteem office to give light to this 3 Streets now.
