I want to thank all those who advised me to stay back and fight it through. After reading those positive comments and some friends here i decided to stay back. Today i want you all to join me celebrate as i have graduated from the University here and my graduation is coming up November 29th 2024. It was not an easy journey honestly at first i thought it will be impossible to complete my studies giving the fact that school started mounting pressure on me shortly after i decided to stay back.
I got first job December/January but honestly it couldn't sustain house rent. So i had to sell some properties in Naija to remain afloat, Then stopped the job i was on when i got another one and the pay was sustainable but lost that one after few months. Then my dependant who came leta got a job and together our finances could now sustain and also clear fees balance. The property I sold enabled me to clear some part of school fees because that is the main burden to student aside rent
Lessons learnt so far:
1) To all folks planing on japa via school should make adequate preparation, do your planning/home work well because the first 6 months in UK is not for the faint hearted. On the aspect of school feee ensure you have plans on how to get it cleared as fast as possible.
2) If you don't know how to drive please and please learn it. You don't need to have a car before u learn. Learn now... Like now its a skill that is valuable in all field.
3) Again if you plan to japa now or in future, please know thar driving or knowing how to drive is a skill its self.
4) It is quite expensive to learn how to drive when u leave Nigeria. You can spend over 5m to learn how to drive in UK.
5) Buying a car is far cheaper as a month rent is enough to get you a modern car.
6) Having a car and a driver licence will open doors for you that are impossible to open
7) No one (Nigerians) borrow or lend any money in the UK.. I mean reasonable money like 100, 200 etc. Although u could get credit card. I mean abeg borrow me this money i go pay back so soo time.
life could be lonely amongst the Nigerian communities as everyone is chasing money. But is life fun for British? Yes the British like a fun filled lifestyle. We dont club 1/10th in Nigeria like they do here but can you foot the bill like a newcomer in town?
9) it takes an average of 3 months to 4 months to get a job. Soo I will say there are jobs especially for those who have previous experience in a field. The more experience u have the better and faster u are to get jobs.
10) don't learn automatic driving leaving manual. Please learn manual car driving then u could learn automatic. 80% of cars here are manual. U can see 2020 manual car model everywhere
11) you could use public transport to get to a place in 2:30hrs whereas same place will take u 13 minutes or less with your private car.
12) food is crazy cheap but house rent is not cheap. So staying in remote places could safe u more assuming u have a car to get to place of work.
13) if you are coming its good to have 1000 pounds set aside to learn skills thay could land u job easily. This skills and certification are just few weeks to achieve.
14) learn to network with those on ground. They already know or have some job connections hidden that could take u years to find out.
15) at least know the basics of computer operations like how to send mail, do job search via indeed. Use ms Word etc it helps. 16) in Nigeria when see someon or stranger u stone ur face.. Bone ur face trying to investigate but in the uk its otherwise. When u see someone u smile.. And be polite.
17) no power failure not even a seconds.
18) all road are connected
19) nothing like tribalism or regionality in UK. Like every uk sees him or her self equal and uphold their nationality unlike tribes we do in Nigeria.
UK has been good despite all the hurdles I had to scale through. I arrived UK on the 13th of September last year and God made a way for me to be housed by two Nigerians I barely know. One housed me for about 6months and the other for 3 months till I was able to secure my own accommodation. God has been faithful and it's a fact I really appreciate. I faced the school fees issues as well in fact my account was blocked and I couldn't submit my assessment but all those are stories to be told another day. Congratulations to you Op on your forthcoming graduation, mine will be in few months.
Her victory next month will rekindle my hope in US government if she can disrupt/break the current status quo with regard to US foreign policy and chart a new course

adenigga: The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday said he had sleepless nights making Sim Fubara the Governor of Rivers State.
He spoke in Port Harcourt at a reception organized for him by the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress.
Wike and Fubara have been at loggerheads since the latter assumed office as governor.
Despite President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, the rift between the duo has continued.

JKisOK: A United Kingdom-based Nigerian accountant and investment expert, Ms Patricia Adenike Balogun, has urged Nigerians to have faith and confidence in the capacity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to turn around the economic fortune of Nigeria.
According to her, the president is well endowed with all accounting and management tools, including the right leadership qualities to transform the Nigerian economy to a prosperous one.
Speaking from London in a Zoom interview with Nigerian journalists in Abuja, Ms. Balogun said, accountants are the best set of professionals that can lead a country out of recession and during the time of prosperity because they are visionaries, innovative and risk takers.
Ms. Patricia Balogun, an Accountant herself, also expressed confidence that the President could leverage on his background in the profession to task his professional colleagues on planning policies capable of reviving several sectors of the Nigerian economy made comatose by the harsh situation bedevilling the country.
She, additionally, asked that the government should reduce the tax burden on small businesses in order to help them navigate and survive the current economic challenges.
Ms. Balogun regarded as an advantage the background of the President as a former Accountant with Mobil Oil Producing and other establishments.
She said: “Accountants like President Tinubu are best to lead a country out of a recession. They are visionary, innovative and risk-takers. Although traditionally viewed as professionals who focus on numbers and data, their role is more dynamic. President Tinubu has been trained with the capacity to drive growth and embrace innovation. Their analytical skills as Accountants give them the capacity for data-based decision-making.”
She credited the accounting profession with facilitating the development of trail-blazing IT software currently driving innovations such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA) embraced by the Nigerian government, as well as FinTech and e-commerce platforms.
On the TSA, she said: “The accountants within the public sector put ideas together, and came up with that Treasury Single Account system to help ensure better transparency and accountability in the area of the management of funds within the country, as well as to curb corruption.”
According to her, the nation should not underrate the advantages that accountants and the accounting profession can bring to bear on the nation’s search for socio-economic solutions.
Balogun said: “Accountants have the capacity to drive growth and we are innovative. The analytical skills of accountants that make them excel in analysing data are very crucial in a time of economic uncertainty because we use the data we analyse to back the decisions we make. We have the risk assessment method of finding financial risks, along with different scenarios, to produce healthy outcomes. We have very good capacity in strategic planning.
“We know how to use multiple scenarios and models to differentiate which features will facilitate planning for risk-mitigation. We are very good at problem solving. When you have financial challenges, if you bring an Accountant, they are able to use their skills to basically adapt and find changing landscapes in implementing different corrective measures in terms of the time of economic action.
“In terms of being leaders, we create, we use data, we analyse data, and we are able to use them to bring financial health back to a business, to an organisation or to the country at large.”
Balogun recalled that accountants had been drivers behind the adoption of the Financial Reporting Standard (FRS) that has enhanced transparency and accountability within companies and within the country generally.
“During the privatisation policies of the 1990s and early 2000s, the accountants put together measures to help in ensuring that business outcomes were achieved,” Balogun said.
“In the agricultural sector too, we look at the efforts to diversify its different value chains within the economy and this led to increased jobs in agriculture. It also helped to diversify the country’s reliance on oil," she added.
Apart from reducing the tax burden on small businesses and other areas, Balogun advocated for robust government intervention that include funding and infrastructural development: “If ease of access to funds can be guaranteed to small businesses, it would help the entire country on the path of growth.
Additionally, the growth of enterprises and industries depends on creatively solving the problems of electric power, fuel energy, road infrastructure and security challenges.”
According to her, the UK has a system that allows small businesses to breathe, something the President could borrow from.
Balogun said: “A nation’s macro-economic growth and development are based on the health of the micro-economic businesses of ordinary people running small businesses. We implore the President to look at the various conditions under which these businesses operate. He must specially focus on the area of taxation for small businesses. Here in England, if your business’s income is not up to a certain benchmark, your responsibility to the government becomes reduced.”
Additionally, she suggested that the country must urgently seek ways for the diversification of its economy from oil into other areas like agriculture, mining, tourism and information technology.

Gjrich: The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has prophesied that there would be a fight between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Ayodele said the fight with Shettima would cause political problems for Tinubu.
In a video on his X page, the popular prophet also prophesied that a fight would break out between Tinubu and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Ayodele said: “Tinubu and Shettima will fight and that will cause a political problem for the President. Also, Akpabio and Tinubu will fight because Ganduje is going; these are the things that would cause problems for the APC.”
Primate Ayodele also noted that some northerners Tinubu depended on would attempt to betray him.
He further prophesied that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike would be used to destroy the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“On the part of the PDP, they would use Wike to destroy the party, I see that some governors will leave. From 2025 you will see what will happen because a lot of people Tinubu depends on in the North want to stab him due to his decision to run for a second term,” he added.

Despite governor Ambode’s softness towards Lagos political stakeholders that said No to his second term ambition, he was almost impeached. This is politics where “PITY” is the ingredient for failure.
As soon as PDP stakeholders gave all power to Wike, they sacrificed Gov Fubara and left him to the mercy of Wike. Governor Fubara will be impeached and arrested. He shouldn’t have started a fight he can’t win.
