Politics › Labaran Maku finally Secures APGA Governorship Ticket, Accuses PDP Of Injustice by legendsilver(op): 8:51pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
After weeks of speculations, former minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has finally secured the gubernatorial ticket of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and accused his former party – Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of injustice. Mr. Maku defected to APGA from the PDP after suffering defeat at the hands of Yusuf Agabi who scored 214 votes to emerge winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial primary. He also attempted to secure the gubernatorial ticket of the Labour Party, LP, in Nasarawa State but failed.
Mr. Maku who was presented as the APGA gubernatorial candidate at a hotel, Manyi royal suit, behind Open university Jos road Lafia, said PDP rejected his candidature because of sentiments.
He said he left the PDP because of the irregularities and injustice that transpired during PDP primary.
“I opted out in order to seek for justice,” he said. He said that he decided to embrace APGA which he believes would form government in the state in 2015.
He promised to transform the state to a model city where every tribe and religion would have equal rights and opportunities, if elected as governor.
Mr. Maku alleged that the PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC – led government in Nasarawa state worked to ensure he did not get APGA’s ticket by threatening the leadership of the party in the state.
“The struggle to ensure that I did not become candidate of APGA is emanating from Government House in Lafia. There is no place they have not gone, they have threatened APGA leadership in the state”.
Mr. Maku who named Ibrahim Abu, an Alago man from Obi local government, as his running mate, said the PDP and APC fear his ability and tested leadership qualities which has endeared him to the electorates.
“They know more than anybody that when it comes to vision, to leadership, to capacity to express that vision and mobilize to get people moving, they know I have the capacity and that is why they are all jittery,” he boasted. Mr. Maku added that he is on a rescue mission and that governorship seat should move to the Northern senatorial zone since the southern and western zone having occupied the position for a period of eight years each.
“We cannot afford another round of eight years in Lafia zone which means sixteen years wait, where is the justice in that?”
The state chairman of APGA, John Amakor, who officially unveiled the former Minister of Information as its gubernatorial candidate in the state said the party gave the ticket to Mr. Maku after due consideration of his vast wealth of experience and political clout.
Mr. Amakor, speaking on the raging controversy surrounding the candidature of Mr. Maku, said the national secretariat of APGA, certified the latter as the undisputed bearer of the party ahead of the February 28 guber election. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/174219-maku-finally-secures-apga-guber-ticket-accuses-pdp-injustice-2.html

Politics › Step Down For Buhari, Catholic Priest Tells Jonathan by legendsilver(op): 10:17am On Jan 03, 2015 |
Renowned Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to abandon his re-election bid so that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) can emerge the winner of the presidential election next month. Mbaka, who heads the popular Catholic Adoration Centre in Enugu, said this in his New Year sermon titled “From Good luck to Bad luck,” while addressing thousands of parishioners on Thursday. He urged all well-meaning Nigerians to vote for Buhari on February 14. According to the cleric, Jonathan has disappointed Nigerians and cannot deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. Mbaka subsequently knelt down in front of the altar, cried and asked God to give Nigeria a good leader and not Jonathan. He used the opportunity to beg Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming elections. He said, “I love President Goodluck Jonathan and I used to be his ardent fan, but I want good for my people and that’s why I want Nigerians to vote out Goodluck Jonathan and vote General Muhammad Buhari. I don’t care if Buhari is a Muslim and from the North; all I care about is that Buhari can save Nigeria.” Ironically, Mbaka had recently endorsed Jonathan’s re-election. It was learnt that the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, had taken Jonathan’s wife, Patience, to Mbaka, where the cleric said he would pray for Jonathan’s victory. However, after prayers, Mbaka said the sign he received from God was that Jonathan was not fit to rule the nation anymore. Mbaka further explained that one of the reasons Jonathan is no longer fit to rule Nigeria for the next four years was the high level of insecurity which the President had failed to address as well as corruption in the country. He said it was unfortunate that the over 200 Chibok girls who were abducted by terrorists over 200 days ago had not been rescued despite series of promises made by Jonathan. He further urged the Federal Government to account for the missing $20bn and stop insurgency in the country. Mbaka maintained that Buhari could not Islamise Nigeria as being rumoured in some circles. He said he had never met the APC candidate but urged Nigerians not to forget that Buhari fought corruption to a standstill during his administration between December 1983 and August 1985. http://punchng.com |

Sometimes I begin to wonder what happens if 60% of Nigerian soldiers fall to this "death by firing squad". Are we reducing the force that was trained to handle our Arsenal against future attacks or we are hoping and indirectly praying they(the boko-harams) helps us to handle it? Is it right to kill our gallant men over their refusal to engage the dreaded well sophisticated Boko boys? I pity what's looming in the sky, like its gona rain down sooner than we had expected. |

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is sure that top Nigerian politicians, such as the ex Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kano State Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, who are now a part of the All Progressives Congress (APC), would be back almost in no time. According to a report by ThePunch, the PDP National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, predicted that this would happen before the February general elections. Speaking with the journalists in Ife Ife on January 2, 2015, Friday, he also revealed that the PDP was making some moves to “bring back its former members back.” Oladipo further noted that the ruling party was working hard across the nation to ensure the victory of the incumbent leader, President Goodluck Jonathan, while the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), would suffer a defeat. “The PDP has started efforts to bring back some of our former chieftains who are now in opposition party, All Progressives Congress, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Kwakwanso, and others will also be brought back very soon. “The reconciliation committee of the PDP recently set up by the National Working Committee of the party will meet with all former members of the party in the APC and other political parties before the next general elections. “The move is not limited to these politicians alone, the PDP will bring back all former leaders of the party who have defected due to one misunderstanding or another. They will be welcomed back to their base,” he said. The national secretary also explained why Nigerians should support the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan. Oladipo reminded that the president had achieved a lot despite the security challenge confronting the nation, and would do even more if in office till 2019. It would be noted that the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has accused the governors who dumped the ruling party for the main opposition force of using the manifesto of their old party. According to him, this explains their success in their respective states.

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has supposedly relocated his children to the capital of the United Kingdom, London over uncertain future ahead of February presidential election and insecurity in Nigeria. It should be noted that President Jonathan on Sunday afternoon, December 28th, left Abuja for a brief private visit to the United Kingdom. But the cause of the visit wasn’t disclosed by presidential office. Some sources said that several month after deadly Boko haram sect kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, the terrorists are planning to abduct the entire family of President. According to the other sources Jonathan moved his family because of his fears to fail reelection in coming polls. Presidency sources said the action was based on security advice. Militant elements from Jonathan’s Ijaw ethnic group have been promising war if he loses the election. For the first time, Nigeria’s opposition has come together to forge a strong alliance through the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, is currently making waves across Nigeria. Reuben Abati, Jonathan’s Special Adviser (Media & Publicity) had on Sunday issued a statement that his boss “left Abuja this afternoon for a brief private visit to the United Kingdom.” “The President was accompanied on the trip by some of his principal staff and personal aides,” he said. Before their relocation, President’s children were living with him and First Lady Patience Jonathan in the Presidential Villa while receiving an education at an elitist school in the Nigerian capital. Pedagogue: I'm a Christian. Believe me, we are in end times!
The role RELIGION is playing in 2015 politics is stunningly strange.
We've moved from 'No to Muslim-Muslim ticket'; 'No to Catholic-Catholic ticket' to 'Prophets' making (whatever) predictions!!!
In a sane clime, Prophet Olabayo's 'prophecies' would not have been dignified with any response by a high ranking party official. But in Nigeria, you dare not take such chances...Our people are very gullible. Any statement by anybody with the tag of 'Pastor' or 'Imam' has a sanctimonious effect on a vast majority of Nigerians.
Little wonder that GEJ/PDP waited impatiently for Buhari to announce Fashola or any other Muslim for that matter as his VP candidate. That last minute choice of a RCCG Pastor as Buhari's VP dealt a very terrible blow to their political calculations. But PDP/GEJ have not given up. They cannot even afford to give up. They know too well that the only political weapon they can use against Buhari is ethnic/religious propaganda...Nigerians, the real 2015 politics is about to begin. I have it on good authority that PDP will insidiously invade the social media in a way that has never been seen before. Many new accounts will be opened on twitter, fb, nairaland, linda Ikeji and even Bella Naija...and they will be talking about 1 thing: BUHARI's Islamic/Northern agenda.
My source went further to tell me that some of the phantom monikers that will be opened will be tweeting/posting as if they are supporters of Buhari/APC. Nigerians, SHINE YOUR EYES! Let's call their bluff FOR ONCE!!! They think we are fools. They steal our money and allow Christians and Moslems to be killed by insurgents and they still want another 4 years? Hell NO!!!
Tell me, who's a Christian? My Bible tells me that The Apostles were first called 'CHRISTIANS' in Antioch because the people there saw the life of Jesus Christ in them! They did not call them Christians because they'd wined and dined with Christ! No!!! It was because of the kind of life they were living...so, tell me, Is GEJ a Christian? Is corruption, ethnic bigotry, crass impunity a life of Christ? Is FFK (the self-appointed Christ-defender) a 'Christian' ? These people are 'Christians' because of accident of birth; and the same applies to Buhari....So, whether anybody likes it or not, I am, by the grace of the Almighty God a Christian and I will, God willing, vote for APC/BUHARI/Osinbajo on February 14, 2015.
...and of course, I will vote for Ambode/APC in 2015. I know how Lagos was in 1999; I know how it is now. This is not to say that Agbaje is not a person of integrity! No! It is about his party. I will rather have Tinubu as my governor's godfather than have Bode George/Ogunlewe. I will rather have a party that has been consistent in it's developmental plan for Lagos than have a party that has a different mentality! If Fashola could surpass Tinubu that was seen as better than his contemporaries...then Ambode will (I believe) be better than Fashola!!!
***Really sorry for the long epistle/diversion from the main topic.

maxism2: The South East zonal spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, Osita Okechukwu, has commended members of the party in Enugu State “for being the highest donors to General Muhammadu Buhari’s Support Fund.” Okechukwu, in a statement made available to journalists, explained that the fund, to which the “masses can donate only N100, has so far garnered N54m.” Okechukwu told members of the APC in Enugu State that Buhari would “remain grateful for their contribution,” which, according to him, shows clearly that “the celestial bond between him (Buhari) and the masses and the middle class is Pan-Nigerian and that Nigerians are earnestly yearning for regime change.” “I commend my people for being a critical chain in the Buhari-Bandwagon-Vehicle for Salvation, so that tomorrow nobody can marginalize Ndigbo,” Okechukwu added. He noted that Buhari “has 60 percent chance of winning the 14th February, 2015 presidential election,” because, according to him, “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the de facto campaign manager of General Muhammadu Buhari.” According to Okechukwu, Buhari’s election became imperative because Jonathan failed to guarantee the welfare and security of Nigerian citizens.
“President Jonathan lacks neither the political will to stem corruption nor to fight Boko Haram, that is the GMB (General Muhammadu Buhari) appeal, even from unlikely quarters like South South and South East.
“It is my candid view that our dear president wasted golden opportunity by failing woefully to fulfill the promises he made four years ago.
“For instance on 13th May, 2010, he awarded a $23bn contract for the construction of three greenfield refineries; one to be located at Bayelsa, one for Lagos and one for Kogi – five years down the line the money had grown wings and the refineries dead on arrival,” Okechukwu said in the statement.
He noted that the failure to build the proposed refineries had resulted in the squandering of over N2trillion annually on importation of refined petroleum products, the devaluation of the naira, “gross unemployment,” collapse of the textile and ancillary industries, as well as a huge foreign debt profile.
The APC spokesman also accused the Jonathan administration of “posting of phantom economic growth in the midst of widespread poverty.”
Continuing, Okechukwu said, “My brothers and sisters, you must agree with me that if Mr. President, a young man with phd, had performed, automatically Nigerians from all shades of opinion will not today be clamouring to vote for an old GMB for president, that’s why President Jonathan is his (Buhari’s) campaign chief.”

In Nigeria, whenever a bomb goes off, all u hear is 'government has failed', GEJ is clueless etc. When will all our parties come together and brainstorm to end this menace once and for all? How can u brainstorm with the clueless one? |
