sayoddy: What will wives not see? Well I was served my own pound of flesh by mil today and I stood my ground in saying NO! Okay let me report myself. Because my hospital is closer to my in-law's place and my mil is a midwife, 40years experience, she'll be able to monitor me during this last stage of pregnancy. So today, she called me that her grandnephew of 14years o, I shouldn't be calling him by his name but brother xx. I thought she was joking and told her I can't that my uncles' wives call me by name. She was furious that I dared question her authority and how could I refer to my family when brideprice was paid. In the heat it all, dh came to visit me and he took side with me. Then mil called fil to start coming home immediately. When fil was told about everything, he said such culture is not practised again that the urgent call made him scared that something bad had happened to me who's 34weeks pregnant and have miscarriage history. Thank God I got full support of dh and fil if not I would have involved my family with a matter that started small but escalated. I'm leaving in-law's place tomorrow. I can't condone mil's attitude towards me after the confrontation. Not in this jet age will any mil dictate to dil what she should do Is she bored or what,., mtchewww |

modath: Welcome, since the routine drugs angle has been covered... Nothing else but to wait for madt morning sickness/nausea that will make you question your decision & wonder if adoption wouldnt be an easier alternative.
When you graduate that class, some other courses remain till you get to graduation.
Unless you are 1 of the 2% of womenfolk that go through the whole 9mths like its nothing. Dear Modath, this post gave me chills at the time i read it, but i thank God for his faithfulness as the journey is now 99% complete. thank for giving me "strong mind" jare. God bless u sis. |

Cynthiajay: MY BS My EDd was 1st of Nov but the last scan I did gave me 8th Nov.I went 4 antenatal on wed a week before my Edd and d doctor told me that if I have not delivered by the next Antenatal,I will be admitted and induced so he gave me castor oil and told me 2 drink it by 2am on sunday.I went home and resumed exercises cos I believed I will deliver before that sunday as I didn't want 2 take d castor oil,I wanted labour 2 start naturally.By sunday morning,no show but I didn't bother 2 take d castor oil,I went 2 Church with DH,while in Church, some women started telling me that my tummy ought 2 have come down by now, they gave me different advise,"Drink lipton, drink hot water, stroll 4 a long time" etc. I went home and continued with d exercises, strolling with hubby, cycling on a stationary bike, climbing stairs. That evening I started having contractions but it wasn't severe. The next morning on Monday, I took d castor oil by 2am and strted purging later,I tot baby will come,no way.I kept praying and then on Wed,I went 4 Anc.I was so scared 2 see d doc.I was admitted that day and told 2 go home and come back by 5pm with my things.I ran 2 my Pastor's wife, she prayed 4 me and assured me that nothing will happen.DH drove me 2 d hospital by 5 amd I was given a bed.Later that night,I was given pump and I rushed 2 d toilet afterwards by 10 pm they inserted a small tablet inside me.later the nurse called me again and she checked me and inserted another tablet, this was around past 12 or 1 am.I wasn't still feeling any pains.I couldn't sleep that night.DH kept calling me and praying 4 me.By 8am the next morning they now gave me drip and that's when d madness started.I was in serious pains,I kept saying all sorts of things, shouting like a mad woman.the pains were so unbearable,I kept asking the nurses funny questions.By 10 am,a doc came 2 see me and I was taken 2 d labour room,he checked me and said I was 8cm,another young doc said he wanted 2 do a sweep,he put his hand inside and it was so painful,I screamed,"Doc is okay with this ur membrane sweep" and all d nurses were surprised.I felt like pooing,I told them I wanted 2 poo, they said I should poo there.I pushed and the nurses said that my baby's head was out,I should push again when I feel d contraction,I kept pushing no way, baby refused 2 come out.At a point one of d nurses started 2 pray.I was scared,They said my baby had already pooed inside and I shouted "meconium" they were all surprised.few seconds later,an elderly lady just came into the room, she wasn't dressed like any of d medical staff, she was wearing mufty with gele.I guess she was one of d nurses or midwives, she just jjumped on a chair and I was wondering what she was coming 2 do,all of a sudden, she gave me a very hot slap on my face, and screamed,U want 2 kill ur baby abi? She placed her 2 hands on my tummy and asked me 2 push,I pushed and my baby jumped out. They gave me a cut and stiched it back.It was so painful. When I saw my little Princess I was filled with so much joy.I thank this great God 4 blessing me with a baby.It wasn't easy o but God did it.The next day when I saw d nurse that slapped me,I told her thank u 4 slapping me.I believe God sent her in there 4 a purpose. lol...dat slap is called "hard reset" congrats dear |

maureensylvia: yesterday I had the fascinating experience of registering at the ante-natal clinic at the National Hospital. I was told by a friend to check d hospital that they are the best in our vicinity.
I was told to arrive early to get my number - and so got there soon after 8am. Some had arrived at 7am. They stopped giving out numbers at 9am. I was number 19; there must have been 40+ of us in total (quite often there are over 100 - perhaps the numbers had reduced because of the rain).
As all of us were first time registrants, I followed the ‘go there’, ‘do that’, ‘fill this in’ instructions to have urine tested (must take some ready done next time), weight, height and blood pressure. I got called back at one point because the girl who was entering my card details on the computer at a painful speed had a gap for my ‘tribe’, ‘I really couldn’t say, do you have a space for unknown?’ I said with a smile. She clearly did not.
Then we were all summoned together for our ‘talk’. This started with prayer and was followed by songs. General hospital activity continued around us (even the loos were being cleaned) as we sang ‘Dey say, Madame what ting dey make you fat-o? My oga (husband) de ting dat make me fat-o’ as we danced to show off our bellies. Then the talk began, the first 30mins was a run down of charges, what our registration fee included and how vital it is to pay in advance, don’t request a 2 bed ward when you can only afford a 6 bed ward etc.
Then we were given a severe warning about being on time and collecting your number on clinic days: ‘Your bag will not be given a number, your husband will not be given a number, your pregnant friend will not be given a number’.
Then followed some advice about clothing (‘if you wear high heals you will not be given a number’), and then reasons for attending A&E (‘you cannot attend A&E if you were too late to get your number).
Then we had a tour which included the delivery ward with women in action - deep in labour. I thought the person behind me was saying something to me but she was just praying for the woman moaning in the bed in front of us.
Finally we were assigned to the medical teams whose care we will be under. I was then was seen by the Dr for my appt. He already had urine, BP results and did a thorough but swift assessment. He sent me off for my blood tests (which happened straight away) and to make a scan appt and I’ll see him again in 4 weeks. All in all a thorough if not slightly bizarre experience... wow, i guess i will register there next time, but the waking up early thing go hard small sha |
