EducationUniversities Are Ready To Resume - Union by LeitaP(op):
The National Co-ordinator, Congress of University Academics (CONUA), Dr Niyi Sunmonu, on Saturday said its members were ready to resume work.

Sunmonu said this in a statement he issued after its National Executive Council meeting and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.

He urged the Federal Government to reopen universities and put in place infrastructure and COVID-19 protocols that would facilitate resumption in the institutions.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that CONUA was an association of lecturers from five universities following cracks in the Association of Senior Staff of Universities (ASUU).

The new Union was announced at the end of its stakeholders’ forum at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in October 2019.

”CONUA members are ready to resume work.

”Everything necessary in terms of COVID-19 protocols must be put in place before reopening the universities in order to prevent students and staff from contracting the disease.”

The education sector cannot continue to stagnate. As it appears, COVID-19 would continue to be a threat and we must, in the circumstance, learn to strive to lead our normal life.”

The Union urges the government to make available everything that can help our universities to resume work as it is being done elsewhere in the world,” he said.

Well...
The Npower programme permanency works in this light.
Recruitment exercise via Aptitude test will be conducted to absorb few NPOWERites.
Then the rest of them will be given loans to start up businesses of their choice.
The MDA comes in where the successful NPOWERITES will be absorbed on passing that stage which will be highly competitive.
This is so insightful, thanks for the enlightenment.

We already have an over blotted civil service, more than half of our revenue is used to pay salaries, we should be thinking of reducing the work force. We don't like to say it but most time government training schemes don't work because there are no jobs to place the trained.

Yes, Nigeria is rich in resources, but we don't have the economic wealth that is commensurate with the riches.
If our civil service is reshaped to be productive, the 1m is even too small.
Imagine having having 10employees doing the work of 3. We have no performance measures. How many times have you heard that a civil servant was fired for lack of capacity.
On the issue of our government, I don't even know where to start from, just waiting for the next president after Bubu.
You so on point. Your view represents millions of Nigerians' expectations..
SportsCommunity Shield: Arsenal vs Liverpool by LeitaP(op):
Venue: Wembley Stadium, London
Date: 29 August, 2020 (Saturday)
Time: 4:30pm Nigerian time

Arsenal's domestic season ended on the first day of August with the FA Cup final victory against Chelsea - and kicks back into action at the end of the same month as they meet Premier League champions Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday.

Liverpool's Premier League title was a procession from the turn of the year onwards, won with seven games left and with a final margin of 18 points, despite the inevitable levelling off after the victory was confirmed.

Liverpool's Premier League success, their first title for 30 years, was the result of moving brilliantly through the gears over several seasons under Klopp.

Arsenal's success was built in a different manner, the record 14th FA Cup triumph against Chelsea on 1 August coming after a season of turbulence with Arteta thrust into his first managerial job at this footballing superpower following the December sacking of Unai Emery.

Wembley, as with the FA Cup final, will be without fans but the Community Shield still offers the opportunity to put down an early marker for the start of the Premier League season, which starts on Saturday, 12 September.

Two different types of triumphs for Arsenal and Liverpool led to this traditional curtain-raiser, although it remains to be seen how strong each side will be on Saturday, given the curtailed run-up to the new campaign.

No we are not. Facts.

This is a country of 200 million people. To be super rich we need to have a GDP greater than Germany's. We are not super rich. I don't know why people keep repeating this lie.

Nigeria produces two million barrels of oil which provides majority of government revenue. Go check out Norway, a country with less 4% of Nigeria's population producing the same amount of crude oil. Yet pikers would say Nigeria is rich.

Don't let the fact that a few people get high pay fool you. As an example, $4.6 billion is the total Abacha loot returned since 1999. Divide it by each Nigerian and you will get about 10,000 each. Is that what you call super rich?
Nice one. I think if the potentials are harnessed we could do better.

PoliticsShinzo Abe: Japan's PM Resigns For Health Reasons by LeitaP(op): 9:45am On Aug 28, 2020
Japanese PM Shinzo Abe has announced his resignation for health reasons.

He said he did not want his illness to get in the way of decision making, and apologised to the Japanese people for failing to complete his term in office.

He has suffered for many years from ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease, but his condition has worsened recently, he said.

Last year, he became Japan's longest serving prime minister. His current period in office began in 2012.

In 2007 he resigned abruptly from an earlier term as prime minister because of his struggles with ulcerative colitis, a chronic condition that he has lived with since he was a teenager.

That is enough to put the economy in crisis. Our civil service is unproductive and overbloated.
Where will their salary come from? Loan and Oil.
Olujoba, Nigeria is super rich, don't mind the loan thing, our leaders are just not advanced to respect it's citizens.

A good government regards it's citizens with respect ours is the opposite.

You are very correct,fg can never absorb 500,000 into MDA ,what I believe fg should do is give each of them 300k - 500k for them to go and start up something after been disengaged
That's the use of psychometric test they talked about. It will aid fair recruitment. I don't think all we be admitted myself but nothing is impossible, they can still absorb more, I advise they consult our superb Prof vice president, he has useful ideas..

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, says discussions are ongoing to ensure that exited and eligible N-Power beneficiaries are absorbed into government programmes.

Farouq in a statement on Thursday in Abuja by her Special Assistant on Media, Mrs Nneka Anibeze, said exited beneficiaries should exercise more patience and await the result of her efforts.

“We have directed Focal Persons of National Social Investment Programmes in the states to submit an updated list of the exited N-Power beneficiaries that are interested in participating in the transition plans of the ministry.

Umar-Farouq also explained that the Batches A and B N-Power beneficiaries knew from the beginning as they were informed that the programme was for 24 months.

She said the non-disengagement of Batch A beneficiaries after 24 months was done out of exigencies of the time.

CrimeKey Russian Opposition Leader 'poisoned' by LeitaP(op):
Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny is unconscious in hospital after suffering from suspected poisoning.

Mr Navalny fell ill during a flight heading to Moscow from Tomsk forcing the plane to an emergency landing in Omsk, a city in West-Central Russia. His spokeswoman, Kira Yarmysh says something had been mixed into his tea, and that it was the only thing he took since morning.
