That Nigeria should know there is something wrong with it's security architecture and training. Where have it been heard of that a top government official's security aide hit with a bullet someone excited to see the government official or hailing him or her? |
It so sad that bail seems to be avenue to thywarting, derailing justice or even exploiting the citizens. Can there be a call on our Chief Justices to return bail money when court cases ends? I think it should refund the acquitted fellows; upholding sanity must begin with our honourable judicial officers. #ProtestNoBeCrime |
Am ashamed of this country government! Dark days in Nigerian history... |
Coroner calls on families to identify missing persons at Lagos mortuary By Ifeoluwa Adediran November 19, 2020 2 min The Lagos State Chief Coroner, Mojisola Dada, has called on members of the public whose family members are missing to contact the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). In a public announcement issued by Mrs Dada, who doubles as a judge of Lagos State High Court, family members whose loved ones got missing between October 19 to 27 are to visit LASUTH to identify the corpses. The hours of visit are between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the next two weeks. This announcement comes on the heels of the Lekki shooting incident, where some peaceful protesters were killed, several injured and others missing. There were other records of violence in Lagos following the incident where many persons were reportedly killed. Pelumi Onifade, a young journalist with GboahTV, died in the custody of police officers after he was arrested while covering an incident at the Abbatoir area of the state. A chief coroner is a government official, often a judge, who has the powers to conduct an inquest into the cause of death of unknown persons that died within his state, and also confirm their identity. According to law, a chief coroner investigates “suspicious death” that takes place within his or her locality and subsequent prosecution of persons responsible for the death. In the public announcement, the chief coroner said the directive is pursuant to Section 15 of the Coroner’s System Law of Lagos State 2015. Family members are expected to go with valid means of identification to be allowed to identify missing loved ones. Below is the public announcement: “This is to notify the General Public that the Chief Coroner of Lagos State, Hon Justice M. A. Dada (Mrs.) pursuant to Section 15, Coroner’s System Law of Lagos State, 2015 the Pathology Team would want all those who have lost loved ones between 19th – 27th October 2020 (that is, next-of-kin of the victims) to provide relevant information that would assist the identification exercise. “The next-of kin should kindly contact the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja for the identification exercise of the Deceased. The next-of-kin will be required to provide means of identification of themselves and their loved ones. Nationally recognized means of identification such as International passport, Driver’s license, National ID card or LASSRA ID Card shall be accepted. Only the parents, siblings or children, in that decreasing order of preference are expected to come to LASUTH. The hours of visit shall be from 10:00am to 2:00pm for the next two (2) weeks starting from the date of this Announcement. Please note that these next-of-kin shall be required to come with the following: 1. clear photographs of the missing person; 2. their own upper body photographs; and also provide samples for Reference DNA Profile, where necessary. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/426866-coroner-calls-on-families-to-identify-missing-persons-at-lagos-mortuary.html

When those who are supposed to dispense justice are now the ones exploiting the citizenry with fraudulent bails. Protest is a right not a crime #ProtestNoBeCrime @Judges.... |
So Nigerian police knows killing with unlawful force is a crime. Smile. Nigerian security forces obviously know the right thing but they do the wrong by killing with "unlawful force" and that judges them(hierarchy that participated in that evil killing and other unlawful killings). |
Titled: 'They pointed their guns at us and started shooting': How a bloody night of bullets and brutality quashed a young protest movement By Stephanie Busari, Nima Elbagir, Gianluca Mezzofiore and Katie Polglase Sometime after midnight on October 21, Elisha Sunday Ibanga answered a phone call from his older brother's number. The person on the other end of the line -- a stranger -- broke the news that Ibanga's brother, Victor, had been shot dead at the Lekki toll gate, in Lagos, Nigeria, where he had been peacefully protesting against police brutality earlier that night. "The person told me that the police took his body away," Ibanga, 24, told CNN. An eyewitness to Victor Sunday Ibanga's death told CNN the 27-year-old entrepreneur was shot in the head during the protest. CNN has obtained and geolocated a photograph of Victor's body lying in a pool of blood and wrapped in the white and green of the Nigerian standard -- one of the same flags gripped by fellow protesters earlier in the evening as they sang the country's national anthem. Ibanga confirmed the photograph is of his brother. The Ibangas are one of several families yet to locate the bodies of their missing loved ones -- protestors at the toll gate -- who dozens of eyewitnesses say were shot at, first by members of the Nigerian army and then hours later by police. Eyewitnesses told CNN they saw the army remove a number of bodies from the scene. What happened on October 20, and into the early hours of October 21, at the eight-lane Lekki toll gate -- a key piece of Lagos' road network -- has stunned the country. The protesters who were present have told CNN it was a "massacre" with multiple people killed and dozens wounded. But local authorities have downplayed that account. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, admitted to CNN that footage showed uniformed soldiers firing on peaceful protesters but claimed only two demonstrators were killed. But, he then said there was "not a scratch of blood" at the toll gate when he visited. The governor said no families had approached authorities saying they were missing relatives. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the army denied any involvement, describing reports of the incident as "fake news," before backtracking and saying that soldiers were present but fired their weapons in the air and used blanks, not live rounds. CNN's calls to the Nigerian army have not been returned. But on November 14, during a judicial inquiry into the shooting, army representative Brigadier Ahmed Taiwo said, "There's no way officers and men will kill their brothers and sisters. I repeat no way. We have those who constantly seek to drive a wedge between us and between the citizens of Nigeria..." The army also said at the hearing that it was the governor who called soldiers to the scene because the police were overrun. The governor has denied this, saying he does not have the authority to call in the army. The army has continued to restate that they did not fire live rounds. But an investigation by CNN into the disputed events has cast doubt on authorities' shifting and changing statements. Evidence of bullet casings from the scene match those used by the Nigerian army when shooting live rounds, according to current and former Nigerian military officials. Verified video footage -- using timestamps and data from the video files -- shows soldiers who appear to be shooting in the direction of protesters. And accounts from eyewitnesses establish that after the army withdrew, a second round of shooting happened later in the evening..... P.S: It's a long article. For that part you asked if it posed any threat to your destiny? You asked a rightful question. Bro, unfortunately it does, as you never mentioned it that she renounced being a cultist. In fact she said she is still an active member. Take for instance, you could be caught in-between a cult war which may drag you along.... Fortunately, you already aware and can retrace your step beforehand. If she is unwilling to renounce cultism, it's very likely your life/destiny is at big risk or threat. So to answer your question, it does pose a threat. McCoy662: |
