WebmastersWhat To Look For When Choosing A Web Hosting Company by LekkiHost(op): 10:43am On Jan 30, 2017
Website Hosting - How To Select A Web Host Provider That Wants You To Succeed

As with a lot of purchases, your first urge when choosing website hosting is to go with the cheapest. After all they are all similar, so why should you pay more?

There are a number of objective standards which separates one website hosting company from some others, and money is only one of them. And it should be made clear that the cost should not be the most crucial one.

Choosing a website hosting company based on price alone is equivalent to selecting a builder or electrician on price alone. Certainly, they might maintain or fix your house cheaper, but will your house be safe?

The first consideration is power. Will the website hosting company have the capability to provide and deliver adequate performance? Most web hosting companies advertise that they are able to provide massive bandwidth and hundreds of dedicated servers, and they are usually telling the truth.

However, there is a big difference between existing capacity and usable capacity. Think of it this way; If a website hosting provider has thousands of websites with millions of visitors per day, the usable free capacity would be much lower. Here is a simple example; A delivery truck may have the capacity to carry 8,000 lbs. But not if it is already carrying 7,999lbs!

The experts would advise you ask about available capacity, and have the hosting company back up their proof with reliable numbers. And of course, if you cannot read the data they provide, find somebody to help you do so.

Next, and a very close second, is dependability. A lot of power is worthless if it is cut or goes down often.

Power outages are actually a normal part of business. Even Microsoft, yahoo and google go down on occasions. The difference is, with decent website hosting companies, it seldom happens and a decent provider would have fail over plans, which means if their system does go down it is either up once again instantaneously, or you never see the drop because a backup system sets in automatically.

A good rule of thumb is to grill the website hosting company closely about their up time. Most quality hosting providers will say they run at 99.5%, or higher. However, like the infamous on-time estimates of airlines, those figures can sometimes be considered shady by adjusting the definition of up time.

When it comes to website hosting, what should really matter is whether your visitors will be able to reach your site at any time, 24 hours a days should they want to.

Again, the experts would suggest to find out what back up systems, both human and technical the hosting provider has in place to address failures of all sorts. It is a fact that servers can go down, networks do fail, hard disks could become defective and data lose is an absolute fact, and believe me, these conditions can dramatically mean the difference between success and failure for any website owner.

The result is your website becomes unavailable, which is not good for business. As far as a quality website hosting company, the hosting provider must be equipped to deal with any eventuality and have your website up again as quickly as possible.

Last, but not least, is website hosting security.

With the continuing prevalence of computer viruses and the dreaded Spam problems, you need to guarantee the website hosting company you choose has an array of techniques for addressing them. This basically means the hosting provider has excellent technical plans in place and experienced staff available 24 hours a day who are well-educated in addressing with those problems.

There is a very old saying that goes: one ounce of prevention is worth at least one pound of cure, and when it comes to your website, it is vital you understand the meaning.

All these website issues are paramount to locating a website hosting provider that can deliver the best services you need.

Subsequently, once those criteria are fulfilled by a number of prospects, then you are able to begin narrowing down the hosting companies by price.

And the last is a 24hrs customer service available company.

Foreign AffairsTrump Defends His Executive Order by LekkiHost(op): 10:24am On Jan 30, 2017
Trump defends his executive order as he says Obama created the list of 7 targeted countries & did the same thing to Iraqi refugees in 2011
US President Donald Trump has defended his executive order ban on seven Islamic countries, saying it isn't a 'Muslim ban', rather an 'extreme vetting' . In a White House statement on Saturday afternoon, he said:

'My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months,' Trump said of his own order, which is slated to expire in 90 days. Obama's directive, carried out in response to a specific terror threat, affected only refugees.

He added that the seven countries– Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia Sudan, Syria and Yemen – 'are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror.' He continued..

'To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion – this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order.'

'What people need to understand is that 325,000 foreign travelers came into the United States.' 'About 109 of those people were retained – detained for further questioning because they came from the identified seven countries that the Obama administration and both houses of Congress have identified as being countries that harbor and train terrorists.'

Then he went ahead and tweeted:
White House official Reince Priebus said on NBC's 'Meet the Press' that one of the Democrats' main points of contention – a fear that the executive order made lawful permanent residents, those holding 'green cards,' eligible for the same special screening as first-time visitors.
He said:

'The executive order doesn't affect green card holders moving forward,' Priebus said.

'If they have a person that's traveling back and forth to Libya or Somalia or Yemen, I would suspect within their discretion, they might ask a few more questions at JFK or some other airport when someone's coming back and forth within their discretionary authority as a customs and border patrol agent,' he said.

'And what I'm saying is I would suspect that most Americans would agree that that might be a good thing to do.'

Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly declared the entry of lawful permanent residents, also known as green card holders, to be of national interest on Sunday evening. He said:

'In applying the provisions of the president's executive order, I hereby deem the entry of lawful permanent residents to be in the national interest,' he said in a statement.

'Accordingly, absent the receipt of significant derogatory information indicating a serious threat to public safety and welfare, lawful permanent resident status will be a dispositive factor in our case-by-case determinations.'

Even after Kelly’s statement there were still unanswered questions about what the government intended to do about refugees who had received permission to come to the United States before Trump signed his order Friday afternoon.

Two court rulings questioned whether Trump could reject by executive action valid immigration documents issued by the government itself. Airports remained the frontline in the battle. Crowds gathered at airports in Miami, Dallas, Cleveland, Charlotte, N.C., New York, Washington, San Francisco and Chicago. Exasperation grew on all sides, and some immigration officials threw up their hands.

“They finally stopped talking to us altogether and told us to call President Trump,” said Becca Heller, director of the International Refugee Assistance Project.

BusinessImportance Of Having A Website For Your Business by LekkiHost(op): 8:35am On Jan 30, 2017
One of the most surprising things when you look at small businesses is how many of them don't have a website. You would think that in this day and age everybody would know how important a website is for all businesses. Clearly that is not the case. Any business that does not have a website is missing out on one of the most powerful marketing tools available to them.

The main reason that it is important for businesses to have a website is how people are likely to find you. These days most people will go online and research products and companies before they make a purchase, if you don't have a website you are missing out on all of this potential business. Even if people don't buy your product online they are still likely to research it online so you have to have a website so these people can learn about your business.

A website is also important because it helps you establish credibility as a business. Most people just assume that you have a website since the vast majority of businesses do, at least the vast majority of big companies do. There are actually still quite a few small businesses that don't have a website and without one this is exactly what they will remain. If you don't have a website that you can refer people to potential customers are going to assume that you are a small time company that does not take their business seriously. Once you establish this reputation it is going to be hard to make sales.

A website will not only give you credibility but it will also help to give the impression that your company is bigger and more successful than it may actually be. One of the great things about the internet is that the size of your company does not really matter. There is no reason that you can't get your site to rank in Google ahead of a large multinational competitor and funnel off some of their traffic. This is a big part of the reason that a website is even more important for a small business than a big one, it tends to level the playing field.

Clearly there are still a lot of small businesses that do not have websites, there are various reasons for this but mostly it comes down to the belief that they are expensive. It is rather surprising how much small business owners believe a website will cost them. In truth a website can be built for very little money and if you are on a tight budget you can even get free websites. Remember you don't need a giant ten thousand page website for your business, just a simple site that tells people about your company and your products will be more than enough

While some of the things you say are true, you should also note that many employers have their own issues. For instance we have Indians and Lebanese who exploit their workers. I don't know whether you've been hearing of poor working condition.
Or may be you are a teacher in a private school. You are an engineering graduate looking for a job. You are asked to teach maths, physics, further maths, intro tech and/or chemistry. How can an employee function well.
I get your point.Like i said its just my opinion and if you have noticed i made use of "SOME". Anyways thanks for your view and they are really good points

You are very correct in your views. Most employers reward employees who are intuitive, innovative, creative and entrepreneurial.

Intuitive - You dont always wait to be told what to do. You take initiative.
Innovative - You suggest ideas of how to increase company profits, improve company products and services.
Creative - Improve on the company existing methods of getting things done.
Entrepreneurial - You take ownership of your job. Work as if its your own business. Take full charge and responsibility.

However, some people do all these and still do not get promoted. This happens in organisation that do not care about their staff or management that favour staff that are grounded in "eyes service". Again, some employees do not let their Manager or management know what they bring to the table, while it is not advised that you blow your own trumpet, employees must find a way to show their Managers and Management what efforts they are making to make the organisation better. Let them see your effort and the impact it has on the company.

Finally, there is politics in every organisation. Open your eyes and learn the robes. Get close to the people that matter in your organisation, the decision makers. If you put this advise to heart, your name will be top of the list of employees for promotion.

In the last organisation I worked with, I got promoted twice within a year. Not minding the recession, when people are being laid off and salaries been slashed.

I invite you to subscribe to my series - The Memoir of a Job Seeker, a monthly publication where I'd be sharing my interview and job experience with you.
Nice points. i will check out your blog

d primary reasons r wickedness n greediness from d employers side. D management give more emphasis on their candidates for promotion , does that worship them n do eye service .Check it out any employee that is competent on his job , don't do eye service, so when promotion comes they denied most of this employees except God did his miracle...from were I was working before , in my section , I was d best at what I do...I was by d help of God able to progress in my department n d company atlarge . But when its time for rewarding my boss n her boys will be favoured because I don't go to her house, don't go to her office to do eye service. When I confront her , she will keep giving me hope....for nine good years I was not promoted. I got another job n went to submit my resignation, that was when her eyes open n it was already late..I was begged n was offered to be promoted, I refused n I left..till today, I had that they were not able to get someone that can confidently do d job.
wow! I get your point

Jobs/VacanciesImportant Questions To Ask In A Job Interview by LekkiHost(op): 8:57am On Jan 27, 2017
Every job interview requires you to be prepared to answer all manners of questions related to your person and the job you seek. No matter how prepared you are, there’s a chance that you won’t be ready for one last hurdle of the interview stage where you are asked “So, do you have any questions for us?”
You may think that the interviewer is asking you this question as a courtesy but that is far from it. The truth is they are trying to test how much you’re interested in landing the job and how much research you’ve done about the company.
This makes it important for you to have a number of questions drawn up to ask them. Here are a number of important and thought-provoking questions to ask.

Have I answered all of your questions?
Asking this question gives you the opportunity to cover all important areas and talk about your strengths which you may not have had the chance to highlight during the course of the interview. It also helps to erase any doubt the interviewers may have about your competence and suitability for the job.

How Does A Normal Working Day Look Like?

It is an obvious question to ask as it is always good to know the amount of hours you’d be spending if you eventually get the job. The advantage of asking this question is that it shows the interviewer how eager you are to commence the job.

What Do You Enjoy About Working Here?
This question can help you build a personal connection with your interviewers and can differentiate you from other applicants. It can also help you know how enjoyable working for the organization can be. You can proceed to ask what they don’t like and if the answer is nothing, that’s a red flag you should be on the lookout for.

How Much Are You Willing To Pay For The Position?
At a final interview, you’re allowed to be firm and go into specifics regarding the financial remuneration of the position you applied for. You can be firm about what you want at this moment that is expected to be awkward to get the best value for the services you’d be offering.

Why Is This Opening Available?
If the position you’re applying for is one that was newly created, there’s a chance that the company is growing. If a number of people have however shuffled through the job in three years, it speaks volumes about the kind of organization you’re applying to.

Who Are The People I’d Be Working With?
Asking this provides you with information regarding the staff strength and turnover of the organization and it can also let you know how the company is growing. A simple question like and “How many new people have you hired in the last 1 year?” can provide you with information regarding the turnover of the organization.

Are There Opportunities For Me To Progress In My Career?
While it won’t be nice to sound over ambitious or presumptuous, asking this question demonstrates your ambition and a willingness to be around for a long time to help the company grow.

How Do You See This company In A Few Years?
This question shows that you have an interest in the goals and growth of the organization. It also shows commitment and provides your interviewers with information on your values and how your goals align with those of the organization.

What Is Your Definition Of Success?
Having an idea of what the managers or interviewers of the organization you’re applying to values and the way and manner they provide feedback can give you an idea of the traditions and culture of the company you’re about to join. More so, you can easily have some knowledge of your prospective boss and his ideals.

What’s The Next Step?
This question helps you know what’s next in your job search process and when the organization will most likely contact you. You’d show confidence and a burning desire for the job by asking this question.

You may be right, but from my own research, what many Nigerian employers do is, once you have reached the stage for promotion/salary increment, they simply replace you with a younger or fresh applicant who's willing to do more for less pay.

CareerReasons Why Employers Do Not Promote Their Employees by LekkiHost(op): 1:16pm On Jan 26, 2017
I keep wondering why most employers do not promote their employees and this came to my mind..The reason why employers do not promote their employee is that most employees do only what they are told to do..they are not willing to do more, think more or even go the extra mile.
They lack initiative and professionalism.some employees are not willing to learn and develop soft skills needed for them to succeed in their career. they do not do things that exceeds the management expectation and most of all they don't think like a manager but like employee......what else do you think could deprive an employee from being promoted?
