Everyone yesterday was put at the edge of their seats when news rocked the internet about Adekunle Gold and Simi’s secret wedding in Lagos.

Same thing is about to happen again today as reports from close sources confirmed to us that Simi is already carrying Adekunle Gold’s baby. The Trent can confirm that Mr. Gordon Obua, former Chief Security Officer to President Goodluck Jonathan has passed away a few hours ago, July 20, 2015 in the custody of Department of Security Services (DSS) in its Abuja Headquarters where he had been detained since Thursday, July 16, 2015 on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sources who have been monitoring the situation have confirmed Obua’s passing to The Trent. He was arrested on Thursday when he honoured an invitation by the DSS and had been in solitary confinement until his death.

Obua, who was being detained by the DSS in an underground dungeon for undisclosed reasons was being denied access to his lawyers, family, and his doctors on the orders of the new Director General of the DSS, Lawal Daura. The DSS (also called SSS) serves as Nigeria’s secret police.

Our sources say Obua’s remains are still in the custody of the DSS at the time of filing this report. He was held without charges filed against him.

On July 18, 2015, Onochie Onwuegbuna, the lead partner at Zeran Legal, has issued a press statement on behalf of Obua’s family complaining about the conditions in which his client was being detained and said that his client was being witch-hunted by the Buhari government. He said his client was diabetic and hypertensive and was being denied his drugs as well as food and water by the DSS.

Obua, until his death, was an employee of the SSS and his employer knew about his medical conditions but decided, in impunity, to deny him access to his medicines and doctor, his lawyer alleged.

Onwuegbuna said that the Buhari government had ‘marked’ his client, and other individuals who held offices in Jonathan’s administration and the arrest of his client was a scheme, “in other to implicate them by all means for phantom crimes or offences”.

A non-governmental organisation, the Society for Global Justice had issued a statement on Obua’s continued detention at the DSS, on Saturday calling for the release of the former Chief Security Officer.

Executive director of the group, Mr. Marcus Ogabe confirmed that Obua was detained at the SSS headquarters in Abuja since Thursday.

The group also said the continued detention of Obua is indicative of “the tyrannical, autocratic and dictatorship tendency of the Muhammadu Buhari administration”.

“‎Obua has been detained since last Thursday at the headquarters of the State Security Services in Abuja without charge.

“He was also not told the reason for which he is being detained, the group said.

The song Godwin by korede Bello featuring Don Jazzy, was released sometime in February. Two days after it was released, it became a national anthem for the old, young and lovers of good music around the world.

Though, the song had some criticisms when it was performed in a Church in Lagos, however, it was received with open heart by many. Interestingly, less than five months down the line, a suiting and world-class video has been released for the song that brings relief, happiness and joy to many, according to their situation. Honestly, I must say this video meets my expectations.

Five things I picked from the video after watching it

1.The video started with the comedian Bovi acting as a presenter on a TV program tagged “House of Victory.” He prepared the viewers’ minds with his comic presentation, and it was actually a good start.





2.Another thing I noticed is in the story line. The story is just accurate as it depicts the message of the song. For instance, the scene where the guy got a bank alert on his phone, and how he rejoiced was good, as it portrayed the message perfectly. Also, the scene where the lady (by played by LABI of TVC) got the contract was well represented. That of the politician that won the election (played by YAW of WAZOBIA FM) was also great, and a credit to the video.

Olamide and Reminisce are arguably heavyweights indigenous rappers in Nigeria. They’ve made landmark in Nigerian music industry which can never be underestimated. The interesting thing about them is that they started as professional rappers at the same label which is Coded Tunes Entertainment but they later went separately. In fact, they both rap with the mixture of Yoruba and English. They’ve even featured each other in their songs, i.e Reminisce – Government ft Olamide & Endia, Reminisce – Local Rappers ft Olamide & Phyno, Olamide – Legendury hustlers ft 9ice & Reminisce, Olamide – Industreet (Cypher) ft Reminisce & Base one.

OLAMIDE
Olamide Adedeji aka Olamide was signed to Coded Tunes Entertainment as a rapper. He raps with Yoruba, English and also sing. Olamide was a part-time student of Mass Communication at Tai Solarin University at that time. He released his debut single titled Eni Duro (You won’t wait) in 2011. He also released other two singles titled ‘Apa ti jabo’, ‘Young Erikina’ and his first album titled Rapsodi in 2011. Olamide left Coded Tunes after his first album to start his own label which he called YBNL Nation (Yahoo Boy No Laptop) and he has released three albums under his label; YBNL (Yahoo Boy No Laptop) in 2012, BGEL (Baddest Guy Ever Liveth) in 2013 and Street OT (Street Orientation) in 2014.

Olamide has won many awards in his career which include Best Rap Album and Album of the year for YBNL in The Headies 2013 and BGEL in The Headies 2014, Best Street Hip-Hop Artiste in The Headies 2013, just to mention but a few. Some people believe that he is the King of new school Yoruba rap because of his versatility. Some of his hits are: Ilefo Illuminati, Young Erikina, First of All, Abeg o!, Bobo, Durosoke, Turn Up, Story for the gods, Awon goons mi, Stupid Love etc.

REMINISCE
Remilekun AbdulKalid Safaru aka Reminisce was signed to Coded Tunes Entertainment as a rapper. He is a crossover rapper. Reminisce started to rap with English emulating rappers like Nas, Jay Z and Snoop Dogg. He recorded a hard core rap album at Coded Tunes in 2006 but it was never released due to parental pressure on him to complete his education. Reminisce studied Purchasing and Supply at Kwara State Polytechnic. He came back to music in 2008 and he was featured in 9ice’s song titled Barchelor’s life. He rapped with English in that song.



He later released two singles titled ‘Ever since ft 9ice’ and ‘If only’. Reminisce left Coded Tunes and he was signed to Edge Records in 2009. He became a fully-fledged Yoruba rapper when he released ‘Ka Ko bi chicken’ in 2012. The track was included in his first album titled Book of Rap Stories which was released in that same year. He released his second album which is titled Alaga Ibile in 2013. The album sold over one million copies.

Time Magazine included Reminisce in the names of ‘7 world rappers you should meet’ in 2014. His third album was released in 2015 titled Baba Hafusa. The album made it to #12 on Billboard World Album Chart. This made it the third Nigerian album to made it to that chart after 2face’s Ascension and Asa’s Beautiful Imperfection and the first Nigerian indigenous artiste to made it to that chart. Reminisce has his own label too which he named Les Roses Rogues (LRR). Some of his hits are: Ka ko bi Chicken, 2musshh, Fantasy, Daddy, Tesojue, Eleniyan, Ever since, Government, Local Rappers etc.

Last Night was another big blast on the Island, Yeah the Industry Night of the late Oladapo Dagrin which was star studed and hosted by his Cousin Tee blaq aka the robo king. Fans came out to support the family and pay respect to the late Dagrin who passed away 22 April, 2010 (5 years ago) in a motor accident in Mushin, Lagos.

Some of the celebrities present were Olamide,Reminince, Seriki, Jhybo,lil Kesh,Lynxx,Zeez,Kong,Lord of Ajasa,K9,base 1,Phyno,Dj spin all,DJ Lambo amongst others but all went flop when the celeb started evaquating after performance from Base1,Cdq,Yq, Sosick and Lord of Ajasa Oops dunno what went wrong after Tee blaq refuses to perform.
