Please need help
Visa was denied today f2
Vo: we’re are you going
Me: going to visit my husband who is doing his master’s in public health at Xxxxxxx we want to visit and spend Christmas and also celebrate our 5th wedding Anniversary with him.
VO; what do you do?
Me: I am the CEO of Delyt Exquisite Collections world ltd with two outlets in Abuja and Niger state I import and supply all kinds of school uniforms, school shoes, school bags, lunch bags and sport wears, I am the major distributor to over 50 schools in Abuja and Niger state, I have a staff strength of 16people and I make anual turn over of 30million naira aprt from my business I have a 12 rooms apartment we’re I make anual turnover of lion naira.
Vo: I can see you husband will be rounding up his program by May next year.
Me: yes ma
Vo: sorry you are not qualify.

Please what could be the problem.

The problem is that your husband will be rounding up his studies soon and it is expected that he should return. I always advise spouse of people doing masters program to apply as soon as possible to avoid VOs telling you your spouse will soon finish his program. You can reapply.

@Shannon70, Please I need your advice and insights.

Last yr, during my F1 visa interview, the VO asked me if I will be going with my wife, I told him NO, as my wife was schooling and doing her business. Hence, çannot abandon her sch to join me. Now, she is almost rounding up.

She went for her F2 visa few days ago, and was told that her husband said, she won't be joining him, what has changed? And she gave an entirely off point answer, as she did not anticipate the question and I mistakenly did not prep on that point. She was telling the VO that her husband cannot visit at this time, cos of his demanding research work.

Now, we are about to reapply. Will stating that she has completed her program be appealing to them? Since, had already given an out of point answer initially.

Please, what do you think is the best way to go about this? Because I know that, that same question will arise again.

Thank you very much.

You should reapply. The same question will come up. Your wife should explain that you said she would not be visiting then because she was running a program. But now she has completed her program and she would like to visit you. Your wife may include what her next plan(s) is/are which we show her tie to Nigeria. For example, if she is planning to start a business or she is planning to get a job, she can mention it, and say that she wanted to visit you so as to return to Nigeria to continue her plans. I hope that helps. Good luck!

I applied for F1 visa, with full tuition waiver and RA, I was denied in Aug, 2022
The VO asked me the following:
VO: Where are you going?
Me: I'm going to YZ University
VO: To do what?
Me: To purse a PhD in Environmental engineering
VO: Where is your spouse?
Me: My spouse is studying in the same university
Vo: How long have you been married?
Me: 18months
Vo: why didn't you apply for f2
Me: I didn't have a need for that, I'm going to study
Vo; how long have you been married
Me: same answer, 18months
Vo: why didn't you apply for f2
Me: same answer
He issued me the blue paper
What we're my mistakes?
Now I am applying for F2, my spouse has till Dec 2023 to complete his study, what should be my intended length of stay

I would advise you don't switch to F2. Reapply for F1 and explain why you want to go to the US to study. You have your own career to advance, and your goals to achieve. When next you're asked the question about why you didn't apply for F2, your response should be tailored to your commitment to advance your career and achieve your personal goal.

Qubratshalewa:
Good evening everyone
I went for my F1 interview on Monday but I was denied.
Firstly, I will like to share my story. I got a full funding scholarship with a TA for PhD in chemistry. While filling the Ds160 , I answered yes to question about any relative in the US which is my husband and a citizen. On the interview day after questions abt my studies, the vo asked abt relative in the us, asked few questions regarding my marriage and then I was denied. I want to try if I could be lucky to reapply for spring again but I have some questions troubling me.
My questions are;
1. Do they keep previously filled DS160 information? I am thinking if in my next application I should put no for relative in the US. I know anyone can say why not in the first time, BT my husband thinks it can affect later if he want to file for me
2. What is my chance of getting approved if I reapply again?
I know people can say why not file instead but it take nothing less than 2years coupled with the fact DAT I want to pursue my PhD.

Please I need people suggestions on this. Thanks

It was a mistake mentioning your husband who is a US citizen. My advice is: do not change your story of having a relative in the US because the VO would have noted it down as a reason for your denial. It will be dicey to tell another VO something different cos they always see whatever comment previous VO makes. You can also be lucky that the next VO will not ask you anything about it. You can reapply but have a story of what you intend to do after your program and show commitment to coming back to Nigeria to execute it. Good luck!!!

Hi guy, please help me answer this question:

For someone that wants to apply and attend an interview with a child (2 years old), do they need to open a separate account for the child on the cgi portal? Can you just add the child to your application without opening a separate account for the child?

Hello everyone, please I need help. I’ve been following the posts here and it has guided me in no small way in my application.

I applied for emergency appointment yesterday as my program start date is 31st of July, and lectures start on 15th of August.

However, I received a mail now stating that my emergency appointment was denied. I don’t know what to do, because the original date I got is March 2023. Please help. My center is Abuja.

Get a search group to join. For instance, July 13th appointment slots were released in Lagos today and many people were able to book their appointments. Since you've applied for EA and was denied, all you can do now is to launch a date search by joining one of such groups. Ask for someone to add you here.

Is it advisable to email or call the embassy on the issue

Send them an email. Tell them you applied for EA and have not received a decision yet. Sometimes they can tell you their decision.

GUYS

i applied for EA to abuja three days ago and yesterday i got a mail that it has been denied. so i had to pay for another visa fee today please how do i go about scheduling for a new appointment

Why do you need to pay for another visa fee? If your emergency request was denied, it means that you should keep your current appointment. You can join a date search group to get early dates whenever they are released.

In case you want to reapply for EA, then you need another visa fee. To use it, you will use your current visa fee to book appointments and cancel it two times. After the second time, you will get a message that you will need to pay for another visa fee in order to book for a new appointment. You can then use your new visa reference number to book a new appointment and apply for EA.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Good morning all,

Please I need your advice on the next steps to take.

I already bought a return ticket to travel for my annual vacation next week Tuesday (July 5) on my B1/B2 Visa before I got an offer from the University of Maryland for MBA/MSc Information Systems (Fall 2022) with partial funding and a graduate assistantship.

I have made the first deposit and the school has sent the I-20 with the earliest admission date of July 23 and a program start date of August 22. However, I am yet to apply for a student visa because the available dates are way after the start date.

Please I need your opinions on whether it is wise to proceed with my travel as planned and try to change to F1 after I arrive in the US either by going to Mexico or wait in Nigeria till a date becomes available because I don't want complications. A newly admitted student in the same program told me that she paid an agent for an interview date but hasn't gotten in more than 2wks. I don't want to pay an exorbitant fee to change my ticket and still not get an interview date to enable me to join this cohort. That would mean deferring till January 2023 and the funding isn't guaranteed.

Please is there anyone here who has gone the route of applying for an F1 visa from neighbouring US countries or changed from B1/B2 to F1 in recent times? Please what is the success rate? I know that applying from Nigeria isn't certain and I am mindful of that as well because if the student visa is denied, entering the US on a visit visa becomes questionable because of a change of intent.

I have extensive travel history and never overstayed my visas. I have renewed my US Visa multiple times without issues and do not want to jeopardize that.

Please help.

Thank you

You will not be able to enroll in school until you have a student visa (F1), meaning that you cannot begin your studies on B1/B2 visa you currently hold. Visa appointments in Mexico (and other countries) are reserved for citizens and residents of those countries. This is a new policy due to Covid-19 disruption. So, your best bet is to apply for a visa appointment in Nigeria. Yes, early dates are unavailable now but people still get as dates are occasionally released. There are many whatsapp search groups you can join. You would have seen people on this page asking to be joined to a date search group. Since you have renewed your US visa multiple times, your chances of getting your F1 approved are high. Good luck!

Please for usa study f1 visa interview ,main applicant and family on f2 have to pay the visa fee together ?or it can be paid sperately even if dey are going to book and attend interview together as a family and secondly if a student book urgent appointment due to 60 days rules will it be whole family be given the interview slot together if approve or just the main applicant alone?

There is nothing like paying visa fee together. You will make separate payment for every applicant. You can then decide to book your interview together or separately.

If you apply for emergency appointment and it's approved, it's for you and all family members that will be attending the interview with you.

I think it is because he didn't give answer as to howmany hotels his dad has.

Not only that. He gave generic responses to questions. For example, he said he wanted to "to proffer solutions to the world problems through computer science." Which problem in particular?

He also said he chose the school because their "level of support shows the school loves me and i love them." The School loves him? How? And lastly, the number of hotel question. He needs to prepare better responses for his next appointment.

Obviously there is an issue with your family solicitor sponsoring you. A solicitor is paid to do a job, so why should he pay for your studies again? It sounds weird. Change your sponsor.

moses3:

GoodMorning
I had an interview on the 25th of may 2022
COA $35k
Fees: $35k
On my I-20 my sponsor was written as $35k they didn't state who he is to me.

VO: please pass your passport and I-20
Me: here is it. GoodMorning
VO: GoodMorning why where you going
Me: to study masters in Biz admin and mgt at the unvi of ...
VO: why masters
Me: I just felt it time to upgrade my skills as a professional. I have projects at hand that is to be handle professionally I need to be versed in my managerial skills to be able to handle such project.
VO: where do you work?
Me: I work in a law firm as the HR Manager
VO: typed for a while and screwed up her mouse. Then Shaked her head. Who is your sponsor?
Me: He is an associate at the firm I work for and also a family solicitors
VO: you say what?
Me: He is my family solicitors
VO: brought out blue paper and passport was returned to me

I was denied.

Now I have contacted the school for a correction on my I-20.
1. The figure write was wrong. Guess I wasn't calculated well. That has been rectified now
2. I still returned my sponsor as it was the account statement I used in acquiring my I-20. It's a corporate account. I asked them to change where the sponsor is written as $35k to the company name on the account
3. The idea of all this is because I don't intend changing too many things so it doesn't like suspicious.

Please house and professional advisers please I need you to help me look into this and give me the best solution as I am about to re-applying

Hi everyone, I rescheduled interview dates 2 times and now the Reschedule appointment option disappeared from my dashboard. Is it normal?? Will it become available again if I pay another MRV fee? Has anyone experienced that? Please reply.

Yes it will reappear if you pay for another MRV fee. You have exhausted the number of times you can reschedule with your current MRV.

V:O Do u work
M:e No
V:O sorry bla bla bla
Please expert in the house tell me where i got it wrong because Am planning on reapplying nd Visa officer was very happy smiling with me

Having a ob to return to is a strong home tie. It's not a good idea to say you don,t work, except for someone (very young person) going for undergraduate program. You have a relative who is working in the US, you must show a strong home tie to convince the consular officer that you will come back. One of the ways to show that is having a good job to return to. Think about that.

Hi everyone, please does being not employed at the moment affect my visa chances. If I resigned my employment 3 months before the submission of day-160, will that be a challenge for an F1 visa. Can I feel “not employed” in primary occupation. A bit of a background, I am going to the US for a Masters program

Having a job is seen as a form of home tie especially for older adults going for graduate program.

Good day everyone
Please I need advice on this issue asap
I was denied visa for visa lottery back in 2010 and was banned permanently due to mispresentation of documents ,I claimed to be born in Togo just to win the lottery , so VO said I didn't have enough evidence to backup and that a faked the birth certificate I presented etc.......
Now my question is ,I wish to study in USA now, does the Ban expire or actually permanent as the VO said
Also I actually claimed the lottery from an agent,so the name wasn't my Original name
My other question comes from this, will that issue comeup with my real name now?

Or I should just forget totally about Going to the US

Thanks for your prompt response,My Gurus

This is tricky. Did you at any time do biometrics (like thumbprint)? If they have your thumbprint, it will always come up even if you change your name and other details. You previous applications will pop up once they get your thumbprint.

Sure! Your visa is universal. You can enter US from anywhere in the world as long as you have a valid US visa, irrespective of the country where it was issued.

How many times can someone reschedule on one appointment profile??

Don,t reschedule. Give them a call to explain the situation. I suppose they should reschedule you themselves. I know a friend whose appointment was cancelled because he rescheduled two times (you can only reschedule once).

I think you can learn from your immediate younger brother. How did his visa interview go? Was he asked about his older brothers who were in the US at the time he applied? What did he say? Since everyone went to study and you also intend to go for study, you can learn from your other siblings' experiences.

The VO has already given you a hint on what is wrong. VO asked you "how does this concern pharmacy?" which means the program you are going for does not relate well with pharmacy and the company you currently work for. You may want to see how you can explain the connection between your program and your current job (or your future aspiration). I wish you better luck next time.

Sorry about the denial. The VO probably think you have the same plan as your brother. I assume the suspicion is that you want to go to America and get married to have a green card. You need to have a good strategy to convince the VO that you're different from your brother. Good luck next time.

VO: Have u traveled out before:
Me: yes, back in 2014 I went on a family trip to London with my family...
VO: Do u have any relatives in London...
Me: Yes, my mom's sister,my aunt...
VO: How old are u?
Me: I'm 17
VO: When did u graduate from High School..
Me: 2021, October
VO: types and keeps on typing..
VO: How did ur brother get his green card?
Me: Marriage
VO: What is ur brother's wife's name?
Me: (says name)
VO: How long has he been married for?
Me: 2 to 3 years...I'm not all too sure about the exact number of years...
VO: Do they have kids?
Me:No, not yet anyways....
VO: I'm sorry I'll have to deny ur visa...
Me: Is this denial related to information about my brother?
VO: check the letter ....PS: I know already what is there .
Me: Did anything go wrong during the interview...I'd like to know to make corrections when I reapply...
VO: I'm sorry I knows it frustrating, check the letter... I'll have to call the next person now...
Me: leaves in utmost shock and surprise

On the letter the reason for denial is Section 214(b) of immigration and nationality act.

My elder brother got married there after going in with an F-1 visa back in 2015. Does this mean all members of my family will be unable to get a US visa for this reason, majority of my family lives back home and I wasn’t asked about them but got denied due to ‘lack of home ties’ I just felt it was unfair I didn’t get a chance to actually talk about myself or what my degree will do for me. What can I do before reapplying?
