Represented by Dr Kayode Ajite, the CMD said the patient was brought to the Accident and Emergency Ward (A&E) of the hospital where she was stabilised and subsequently taken to the Female Medical Ward on admission.According to Ogundipe, “the patient’s condition deteriorated which made the nurse to request that the relations should get the necessary injectable that would keep the patient stable while they waited for the prescribed drugs.“The patient in the process died and the ignorant relations thought it was the injection given by the nurse that caused the death, therefore transferred their emotion on her.“Two daughters of the patient, who were at the scene, attacked our staff, held her hands, choked her and held her nostril. That was an intention to kill.”Police are being partisanThe hospital management equally indicted the police for alleged covering up.He said: “The police are being partisan in the matter and we do not feel comfortable with that.“Our integrity is at stake and we want the police to investigate the matter and clear our name and we have called for autopsy to determine the actual cause of the patient’s death. does this answer your question, dominique? |
A staff nurse at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, was on Monday beaten to a pulp by family members of a patient (name not given) who died in the hospital on Saturday. It was gathered that the nurse was beaten by children and relatives of the deceased who were at the hospital when the woman died. The patient, who was said to have been diagnosed with a terminal liver illness, died a few days after she was admitted at the hospital. Eyewitnesses said the enraged relatives held the hands of the nurse back while she was being beaten. An official of the hospital said, “To us, this was not a reprimand by the relatives of the patient but a clear case of an attempt to kill an officer of the state. “We are used to verbal attacks and other forms through which patients’ relatives react to the death of their loved ones but this was different. “The intention was to kill the staff member on duty and that is worrisome”. The acting Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe, said, “The patient was suffering from a terminal liver illness. She had been kept at a faith-based home for months before she was brought to the hospital when they saw that her condition deteriorated.” The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Victor Babayemi, said, “We have received the report and investigation is being carried out on the matter.” www.punchng.com/news/family-members-assault-nurse-over-patients-death/ |
Trick to see the eclipse; pour one cup of oil into frying pan. Add one tablespoon of oil and one cube of Maggi. Put on fire and wait for 3 minutes then look inside If you can see anything add one seasoned fish and wait until it's golden brown then look again |

Eclipse or hair-clip to start soon |
hmmmmm! didnt hear, read abt it. would love to read about it
made a mistake. it was in July 1991. a solar eclipse occurred at 1pm. multiple UFOs where seen just east of the eclipse in multiple cities in Brazil. |
watch out for this “Shadow bands” are an effect of major solar eclipses. If you ever see them, you won’t forget them. They look like clear, dark grey strips of paper lined up row after row, with about the same amount of open space between the strips as they are wide. When the event starts, they seem to be simply lying on the ground. And as the moon makes its way across the sun, the bands seem to move quickly towards you over the ground. Naturally, this freaks people out. |
I wonder if we would have a repeat occurrence of the famous Brazil eclipse of 1977 and the UFO sightings |

No federal or state teaching hospital in Nigeria is on the list of the first 217 African hospitals! Promoting centres of medical excellence A new study – Ranking Web of Hospitals – conducted by Spain- based Webometrics on the leading hospitals in Africa, has scored Nigeria’s health facilities very low. According to the study, no federal or state teaching hospital in Nigeria is on the list of the first 217 African hospitals. While this is damning, it is not surprising, considering the parlous state of health services in a country that has one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world. The health authorities have to do far better than they are doing now. Though the ranking, according to Webometrics, “is to promote web publication by hospitals, evaluating the commitment to the electronic distribution of these organisations and to fight a very concerning academic digital divide,” it is significant. For instance, WHO says India’s medical tourism sector is a growing source of foreign exchange as well as prestige and goodwill outside the country. It only faces intense regional competition from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. It is sad that while we are sucking our collective teeth here, serious countries are making the most of their universities, hospitals, tourist centres, etc. From the report, 17 Nigerian hospitals, which are mostly privately-owned, are on the list; only two public hospitals are good enough to make the ranking. They are the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, Gombe State. Medical institutions such as the National Hospital Abuja, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, are missing from the list, which is dominated by hospitals from Southern and North Africa. This is unacceptable. How do we treat the sick among us when teaching hospitals are in a sorry state? However, the study only confirms, once again, the agonies of the sick in Nigeria. As the public and medical practitioners are aware, the hospitals themselves are sick, which means the health facilities themselves must be cured first. The putrefaction has ensured that 5,000 sick Nigerians head for all manner of countries every month to seek treatment. According to the Nigerian Medical Association, Nigeria loses $500 million (about N78 billion) to medical tourism annually, with India alone raking in about $260 million (about N40 billion) of the figure. This is not how to run a critical sector in a country; indeed, the health authorities have failed woefully in their task of seeing to the health needs of Nigerians. The conscientious among health practitioners are alarmed. “These are not the best of times to be sick in Nigeria or use hospitals in the country,” Eyitope Ogunbodede, a professor of Preventive and Community Dentistry, said. A visit to any of the country’s hospitals will show that it is worse than a nightmare. Not only are the consulting rooms overcrowded with the sick, there seems to be never enough medical practitioners to attend to the ailing crowd. The grim situation is compounded by the absence of modern facilities. Ominously, members of the National Association of Resident Doctors were on strike for most of October 2013, with grievous implications for the sick. Nigeria’s doctor-to-patient ratio is 1: 3,500 (it could be far higher), a far cry from the UN recommended ratio of 1: 600. While 65,000 doctors have been registered since the inception of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, only 25,000 are in practice, with many of them practising overseas. But our self-conceited leadership doesn’t care whether we live or die. At the slightest sign of illness, they travel overseas for treatment at public expense. Last January, four out of the 36 governors were receiving treatment overseas. While the poor are dying from treatable illnesses, Aso Rock comfortably assigned a budget of N1.05 billion to the Presidential Villa in 2010. In 2013, the federal budget for health for all Nigeria’s 160 million people is N279.23 billion. “The Nigerian medical situation is so sad; we lack modern medical facilities and well functioning multi-medical speciality, (and are bogged down by) poor diagnostic services and poor infrastructure. We lack (a) national healthcare plan, and if there is any, it is not implemented to meet the needs of the people, thus increasing the rate of medical tourism,” said Ufuoma Okotete, a director at Diamond Helix Medical Assistance, an international medical referral organisation. She is right. It is not all gloom, however. The Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta is ranked the third best in Africa (897th globally), while FMC Gombe is ranked 172nd (and 15,262 out of 16,000 globally). What the Jonathan Administration needs to do is to study the factors that qualified these two public health centres to make the list, adopt and improve upon them to get our public health institutions out of this nadir. The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, needs to apply his professional knowledge in managing the crisis-ridden sector, in which the World Bank estimates life expectancy in Nigeria to be 51 years. The government must exit areas like the refineries where it is needlessly spending money and free precious funds for the health sector. Also, the federal, state and local governments have to collaborate effectively with health professionals, and the insurance industry for a workable, efficient and affordable health insurance programme. The current National Health Insurance programme is running, but it is costly and has not captured enough citizens for it to be affordable and efficient. The project monitoring team of the ministry must ensure that all ongoing capital projects are completed on time. http://www.punchng.com/editorial/ promoting-centres-of-medical-ex cellence/ |

came across this write up that explains the feeling of dread I felt and contine to feel anytime I think of Microsoft and Nokia. remember back when Microsoft had the most popular smartphone on the market? No? It was as recently as 2007. Ever wonder what happened with that? Well, in 2008, Microsoft figured they could remain king of the hill by purchasing Danger (makers of the Sidekick), with the aim of building an awesome new smartphone to compete with the newly launched iPhone and Google's unreleased Android operating system. These were the pioneer days of smartphones, and being pioneer days, most of us never quite made it to the cellphone equivalent of Oregon. But not to worry -- the team from Danger was going to build Microsoft a smartphone so good, it'd make Steve Jobs turn his blue jeans brown. Microsoft called their uberphone the Kin. The Kin came. It sold a total of 8,000 units, not even one for every 10 Microsoft employees . The company lost $62,500 per phone sold . You gotta spend money to make money! And also to lose millions, apparently. So what went wrong? Well, for starters, Microsoft took all the brilliant and innovative minds they'd bought from Danger and said, " Knock all that creative shit off." Half the Danger team wound up working on the Kin, and the other half got shuffled into developing Windows Phone 7. You see, giant corporations are the same as the character in every laugh track sitcom who winds up dating two women at once: They'd rathermess up two things than focus on one and do it right. Microsoft had people who knew where the future of smartphones lay. But they also had Steve "If It's Worked Once, It'll Work Forever" Ballmer, a man who throws chairs when he gets angry. It was the same with tablets. Way back before the iPad launched, photos of a Microsoft project called Courier leaked out to the tech press. It appeared to be a sort of dual-screen digital notebook, and every blogger in the gadget world ejaculated in unison. But if you're wondering why there are no Courier tablets today, it's because Steve " Chair Chucker" Ballmer didn't want any hit products that weren't run off the Windows operating system. Image Tiles, the people want TILES ." So, sure enough, the Courier was shelved in favor of Microsoft's Surface tablets, which were so innovative that nearly a billion dollars' worth of them sit unsold in warehouses right now . |
considering the cost and speed of those bikes, that was a high calibre heist. isn't banana island close to that area and yuzudo... |
