obnelly: Profit should be the second thing ,first is your interest ,do you like eggs or meat. Both are profitable but you must do your marketing right.Livestock isnt a paper thing its purely practical.
Any business that bring Money has my attention, all I really need do is add LEVERAGE on the long run. Cheers

Idango: My brother, a lot of farmers beleive that broilers are more profitable if you can get buyers for your birds, it is easier to sell your eggs because buyers look for you, but for the broilers , you need to go and look for them. But once you get your sales outlet, i personally beleive that it is through broilers that you can make real money from poultry.
thanks

Idango: The pots cost about N700 each. You will need to buy charcoals, a bag is about N1200 around IFO area of ogun state. You fill the pot with charcoal and and light the charcaol, you empty the ash and replace with new charcoala after 4-5 hours. The lenght of time the charcoal can last before completely burning off depend on the type of wood the 'coal was derived from. So far there are working perfectly. After the second week the pot will no long be required untill another set.
pls make sure you give them heat for 4 weeks, 2 weeks is not enough, though it depend on the temperature of where you reside but after 2 weeks they need a temperature of about 25 degree. Cheers and good luck.

AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by leverage12(m): 4:32pm On Sep 22, 2013
Bestofralph: Broilers are naturally fast growing breed of birds. Feeding them growers which have a higher protein ratio will only make them overweight & in some cases making them unable to move around and this is not good for the birds.
thanks I really appreciate, but I have another challenge-I buy my feeds at the rate of 2500 naira per bag and think its kind of exspensive to me, is there anywhere I can get it at a cheaper rate. Please help oo.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by leverage12(m): 1:02pm On Sep 22, 2013
Bestofralph: it depends on how long you intend to raise the birds. Ideally, you feed them starter for about half the time you wish to raise them and finisher for the remaining half. E.g If you want to sell the birds at 10wks, feed them starter for 5wks and finisher for the remaining 5wks. #don't feed broilers with grower mash
please am into rearing broilers my self and this is my first batch, just to ask- why do you say that broilers should not be fed with grower?

made2fit: Thanks. I ask because of this mentally challenged teenage boy in my neighborhood. He sits in front of his house all day and speaks gibberish. He was born dat way and sometimes I look at him and just wonder about his salvation.
You have a good heart. To me I believe its left for God to judge, but one thing I know for sure- that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous and I think the boy might be given a second chance since he was born so.

BusinessRe: Between A Car Wash And A Photo Studio by leverage12(m): 12:42pm On Jul 13, 2013
Originalsly: When it comes to business I think less about passion and emotions and more about profit and loss. Between a car wash and photo studio I would advise you choose car wash. The days for photo studio are numbered...it's a business of the past. Most people have no need to go to photo studio...when last did you take a photo?...when last did you go to a studio? Why? Your answer would be the same for most people.
your mindset is wrong bro, they are people who are into photography and make more money than car wash business. I know of photographers that put their works on exhibitions and make more money far better than car wash business owners. The truth is that you should have a passion on what ever you do, build your talent, have a mentor and use LEVERAGE. Without LEVERAGE you may become like the malam in your environment that is not known beyound his street address. To me I still prefer he goes for what he has passion for, I have seen tens of car wash business that had a good start and stoped working in less than 6 months.
BusinessRe: Between A Car Wash And A Photo Studio by leverage12(m): 6:18am On Jul 13, 2013
Phranciz: I would like to know which business would be preferrable to start. As I have no idea about the two of them, especially setting up a photo studio and graphic design.
go for the one you have passion for most, find someone that is profiting in it and LEARN, invest in knowledge but most importantly make sure its something you are willing to do even when the money is not coming because if you are doing it to make profit along, am not sure if you may go far. Business is not only about making profits but doing what you love best, doing it best and impacting on people lives positively. I pray God help you see my points and make the right decision. Cheers
