Adcoline not everyone can see the big picture always! No need expatiating! What good did the All African Games and the WYC in 1999 do apart from enriching those in power? We have no business with no Commonwealth Games, instead let's utilize the Billion dollars or more on power generation,HIV/AIDS treatment, investments in education or the provision of housing for the low income earners. These are cogent and pertinent issues.90% of our compatriots live on less than $1a day is that not shameful? Thus won't it be silly to go expend such amounts on a jamboree that would do nothing to ease the pain and suffering of the people?Let the games go elsewhere |
The feminists i meet on a daily basis always seem gung-ho!Always out to prove that they're equally as good and as competent as their male colleagues.Fine with me.But when you make that your mantra and cry wolf always where none is,always eager to prove that the whole establishment is anti-women then i take offence! There's nothing called a glass ceiling when it comes to the corporate world. My mum went to school in the 60's, married my pa after she had settled into a good job and proceeded to shine in her field. She says feminists her whiners. My grand ma,(maternal),raised 4 kids by herself. Her husband who shortly had come into some inheritance just after where married was busy still sowing his wild oats in town and partying! All went to college, paid for by her.Her mother in her tme was a notable trader and a woman of means in the early part of the last century in the Ijebu province.Despite her husband's insistence on not fulfilling his own responsibilty(Nigerian men ) ,she went to business and made good for herself and later generations. We Ijebus have always had strong and formidable women in our history-women who raised kids, ran their businesses, kept their heads when their husbands almost lost theirs, independent and fiercely protected their marriages. What can i call these women?Feminists?Rather not! |
Adcoline------------way to go!Roger that! |

In Ekiti State, the Generalissimo,(sorry, Military Administrator) swore in an economic advisory team!Olurin's mandate expires in a few weeks, what's the purpose of this wasteful exercise?A lot of people, especially the ruling elite forget about how history would judge them.Initially,if Olurin were to be a gentleman(In Nigeria they are not),he should have refused the appointment as a matter of principle!Alas,in Nigeria such calls for thanksgiving in Church for the opportunity to reap where they did not so or even planned to buy land in.Olurin is Yewa from Ogun State and to me it's shameful that once again the ignoble list of spoilersfrom Ogun have had a new member to swell their ranks. Remember Shonekan and down memory lane Majekodunmi! I don tire! |
With less than 3 months to go for Ladoja(probably for good),he appointed 12 new special advisers!12 can you imagine i n the twilight of his tenure!Na wa o!Here was someone many thought stood for fiscal responsibility and now this!Someone should help me.Here's the story. From www.thenewsng.com By Gbenro Adesina/Ibadan Crisis has erupted btween Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State and 13 lawmakers of Oyo State House of Assembly loyal to him over the recent appointment of 12 Special Adevisers by the governor. The aggrieved lawmakers , sources said, alleged that the governor made the appointment without carrying them along , adding that most of the newly-appointed aides were their arch political opponents who spearheaded the unconstitutional removal of the governor on 12 January last year. It was gathered that the pro-Ladoja lawmakers were said to have been offended that they have concluded plans to withdraw their support for the governor who was reinstated by the apex court on 7 December last, 2006. The legislators stated that “the unilateral decision of the governor had exposed us to more dangers in our various constituencies as names of their supporters submitted for consideration were dropped while politicians who had been prepared to replace us in the event of a bye-election in our constituencies were favoured.” Making particular reference to the appointment of one of the newly appointed special advisers, one of the aggrieved legislators said: “this is a person who had printed handbills after having been approached by Chief Lamidi Adedibu camp to get set to replace me in the bye election”. According to him, “the said appointee not only printed handbills, he had surreptitiously embarked on campaign and assured the people of the area that he would contest to take over the position because the lawmaker had abandoned them to follow Ladoja. “What the governor has done to us is very painful. He now used us (the G-13) who actually made his impeachment impossible, as a sacrificial lamb. He used us and dumped us like a pack of cards. This is very unfair,” he complained. The lawmakers pointed out that since the new appointments were made last week, people from their constituencies had been disapproving the move. “What do we tell them now? That this is all we got from all the troubles we went through during those terrible months? Even some us received death threats from opponents who saw us as the stumbling blocks on their way,” one of the lawmakers said. The governor, last week appointed 12 new aides who were nominees of some of the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Among those appointed was Miss Kafayat Adeojo (Snr. Special Assistant), daughter of Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, the former Deputy National Vice- Chairman, (South). |
I'm not a Zim expert but I don't think you will be a successful farmer if there is no one to sell your produce to.[]-The zims could not manage the farms they seized and with corruption, the misuse of developmental aid it all took it's toll on the economy. The inability of the natives to produce food from these farms led to a drop in food production and hence hunger. True! There's no ban on Zimbabwe at the moment, i rather meant to say sanctions instead of embargo. The sanctions involve the stoppage of developmental aid,ban on foreign travel on government functionaries ,freezing their accounts overseas which have resulted in isolating the West from Zim,but Mugabe now faces the "East"ie China now for support! |
Boy!I feel your pain, however this is the time for you to do away with all emotion!Treat her as a dog, like she truly is.No pity. You know what to do |
Mugabe became president in 1980 or thereabouts, and it was not until after more than two decades that he realized that 90% of the arable land in Zim belonged to white Zims!Despite forcefully taking over these farms and sharing them amongst his cohorts, they could not run these farms efficiently! That is the sad story of the black man,and of course with the embargo on Zim due to the flagrant waste of aid by its demented life president, the resultant effect is galloping hyper inflation, starvation and misery! The problems in Zim is not caused by the white man, rather an inefficient, inept, corrupt leadership that has taken a once prosperous nation to the dogs |
Paul, Halifax's a great place and so is the province! My ex girlfriend spent a year at the UCCB(University College of Cape Breton).Nice people, lovely scenery!Anyways thanks for your support! |
Mugabe is a glaring example of irresponsible leadership on the continent! The Africa Union should cover its' eyes in shame! |
If some people's misbegotten kind had not made mince meat of the economy, who wants to live in the cold of midwestern USA?People should know that the liberty of living a predictable life drives millions of Nigerians out of her shores yearly!Nobody really wants to die here, but comfort, security, rule of law, basics like water, electricity, good quality education is want makes people relocate! So to those who were breast fed on other people's sweat, those who make money on people's misery, those who thrive on the lawlessness in the country,God would be your judge |
Mimiko was a Minister for about one and half years. This is a short time to get much done given the nature of Nigerian bureaucracy. However, Mimiko despite the short time he spent as a Minister registered some remarkable achievements, here are some: Building Code Act, computerization of land registry, reorganization of the Federal Housing Authority, he refined the framework for mortgage financing, formulated a bill on Land Use Act which is before the national assembly, and several others you can read up on MimikoforGovernor.com.What did he do to address the housing needs of millions of Nigerians? What land registry computation?I know for sure this is a fallacy! Is reorganization of the FHA an achievement?Building code act? What's that? If he had been successful, the whole world would have seen his stuff! However as Baba PDP said, thedevil you know is better that the one you don't, Ondo is going to PDP!If he had performed as minister,he could have stood a chance, however? |
Food for thought! |
