No sir, Original will be required for Faculty n department clearance....... I dunno if some may consider tho. Bit try get the original, the only reason not habitat should be that the original isn't ready yet. As well as ur original jamb results, admission letter, birth certificate, in short all ur documents used during clearance. Coz the faculty n departmental as well as hall are like a mini clearance too.

@zezeny, i've been allocated a hall of residence on ui's portal. is it possible to apply for the accommodation stuff or will it be announced by the institution?

you all av graduated from regular check on www.ui.edu.ng to www.admissions.ui.edu.ng and now finally to ur personalised portal www.portal.ui.edu.ng that's where u get other stuffs done like the hall application, as well as other payments stuff, it's step by step, u all just be calm, probably room/block selection/application should be out in few days from now, after applying for rooms it will take some hours(abt 48days or so) to get approved, after which u can make ur accommodation payments.

Just keep checking ur portals frequently, and share the new Infos u get, just in case u see it first.

Now to the issue of crossing,there are some factors affecting it,which include:
Your CGPA:to cross from a dept to another, you must have a very good CGPA,either first class or a strong 2.1
Courses: if you have a good CGPA and you didn't offer the compulsory courses of that dept.crossing is not feasible.
Department: both dept involved must be related somehow,either through JAMB combination or by faculty.And getting release from your department is also important,it doesn't matter if you have 7.0,if your HOD says you are going nowhere he means it,the department you are going should also be willing to accept.
Note: professional courses like MBBS,Nursing, physiotherapy, Engineering, Pharmacy, BMLS are not allowed to cross.

As lexxybooy has said,most people fall in love with their course and don't cross again.

Any addition or subtraction will be done by other stalite.

Nope, frankly u can't. Am sure you all will enjoy ur new courses, 95% of those with the mind set of crossing at first tend not to even if they av the Oppy to after the first year, there are several things at stake.
