Chinedu,
Needless to say, the results have been quite impressive. From hispasat to nilesat, hotbird, eurobird 7A, badr, etc
I will take a little time to compile and publish channels receivable along with signal quality.
This will be the subject of another post. Coming soon.

Meanwhile I'm using a 36" Eurostar heavy duty jack.

Quite interesting, you got eutelsat 7A with 4M Dish

@Life707,
There was no particular reason for the change in paint color. I wanted a high quality oil paint for the job and berger paints was what was available and I ended up choosing black.

Ok.
Thanks

spartacus11,
yawwilson,
Dlee,
warboy3,
all,
Thanks for the compliments. Although most of the credit
should really be going to Mr Adewest who took time off his
tight schedule, traveling down all the way from Bauchi to practically
take over the installation. If there was ever a work horse, that guy is one.
In him I saw the passion for signals this thread was once known for.
The dedication to perfection is unmistakable. I was so impressed.
Viva FTA!!!

To also attest to what you said about Mr Adewest is my discussion with the Dish fabricator, Mr Okechukwu in Kaduna, when I went to discuss a 4.5M fibre Dish deal with him.

Mr Adewest was well praised by him.
I also remember those days on the forum ,he was the only one that can nail nilesat on 1.8M in Lagos.

@George D, discovered you changed the colour of your 4M Dish....is there any particular technical reason?

Though from experience with my 3.5M Dish painted grey, during the setting of the focal length and adjustment of the lnb, the heat concentrated at that point was enormous even when the sun wasn't very bright/ hot (morning hours).

Ezigbonmadu:
Many of the CEO's explanations don't add up. And that is shocking because he is expected to know how his company operates more than anybody else.

He said his company provide 4G internet on their platform. This is ridiculous beyond explanation. You can only have 4G/LTE internet services from wireless broadbands and not from satellites. Other wireless protocols are WiMAX, WiFi, GPRS, 3.5/3.0G. While satellite bands are ku and c bands (and their derivatives). I'm a Communication Engineer. TSTv claiming to provide 4G on a satellite platform is impossible and ridiculous. Except there will be SIM cards on their devices. This is exactly what I suspect because he mentioned 2 things:

1. That their decoder is Android.
2. That the device doubles as a router.

Essentially what they will offer is a smart phone in a big box. They will depend on your local GSM coverage and data for their data uplinks while downlinks are handled by their satellite feed.

My conclusion:
1. Their data speed will be terrible. Hence people buying the device just for data will be frustrated.
2. They are just a third party service provider. They don't have their own satellite feeds. They will also resell internet from main one (according to Dr Bright, their CEO). Thus, as resellers, they can't control or guarantee quality.

My verdict:
Just hold on. Let your neighbours buy and use it for at least two months before you put your money on it. Hopefully all questions will be answered by then.

(Okay. They say it's just 5k and It's not worth this technical advise)

Communication engineer on paper abi!!!
Have you heard of Hybrid broadband broadcast (HBB).
Google is your friend....educate yourself.
It's available in Senegal, Namibia, South Africa and in Europe.

davodyguy:
That's what I'm trying to imply.

They may use language as excuse, by broadcasting in Arabic cos canal+ already have the French language covered

Yea

TSTV by next season will run into another hurdle as BEIN sport has lost the UCL and Europa league right from next season.

France’s SFR has won exclusive rights to Uefa Champions League and Europa League football from the 2018-19 season beating off incumbents beIN Sports and Canal Plus.

Sports newspaper L’Équipe reports SFR Sport will pay €350 million per season for the rights, which will run to 2020-21 seasons of both competitions. In a statement beIN said: “beIN Sports has been informed of Uefa’s decision to award the exclusive rights of the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa Europa League to another operator from the summer 2018. beIN is disappointed and surprised by this decision from Uefa and has concerns about this process.”

Champions League rights in the current cycle, from 2015-16 to 2017-18, are currently split between beIN and Canal Plus. Europa League rights are split between beIN and commercial broadcaster W9.The price has significantly grown since previous deals gauged at €160 million per year for both competitions on the French market. SFR had previously spent more than €100 million a year to get the Premier League.

At Canal+ this will be a bitter pill as this SFR victory looks like one for former CEO Bertrand Meheut who joined the operator as administrator last November. To beIN Sports too it is also a big loss. European competitions are considered as a key element of its programming and this could decrease the attractivity of a bouquet that lost more than €1 billion between 2012 and 2015.

http://advanced-television.com/2017/05/11/france-altice-scores-exclusive-champions-league-rights/

The issue about Right of EPL broadcast between DSTV and TSTV is speculative as TSTV has repeatedly affirm that she will show live matches.

I remember during the RDV era(senegalese channel), they show big matches on same satellite as DSTV for about 2-3 seasons but commentary was in French. I remember clearly during a match between Chelsea and Man U, when the main anchor person in their studio mistakenly spoke in English to his fellow analysts at half time about the match and he quickly told them he's not allow to communicate in English as a condition to show the match. Then continued in French.

So I suspect that TSTV may broadcast Arabic commentary from BEIN sport because the package advertised only the Arabic speaking channels (BEIN sport 1-10) without the English speaking ones (BEIN sports 11-13).

A modification will be to turn off or turn low the Arabic commentary and have a TSTV studio with a commentator that just says a word or two about the match per time in English.

Or worst still use pigin English......lol

aliyuthayo:
Good morning Mr.
I've been following your work quite sometime on Nairaland, I'm in Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria. I've a 2.6m fibre dish (2 Cband LNB, and 1 KU). I'm planning for a 3meter and above soon, as a die hard fan of FTA. I want to know how many LNB it can hold and possible satellites it can track.
Also I can arrange for you if you can come and install it for me.
Thanks.

I am currently in Ilorin.
Will be leaving Saturday morning.
PM me on my signature.

@sunene1,life707,and co .can one input sp24 pwv key in those decoders not listed among, whether it can open .

Not possible for now.
It goes beyond having the keys.
It requires a software patch that enables the receiver to decrypt the codes differently

Sport 24 audio is fast than picture and the the picture is again slow on my 4955B. How can i do to solve this problem? Thanks

Change to a different channel on a different transponder and then back to Sp24 each time it happens.

It will correct temporarily and when it lags again repeat the same maneuver.

U have to bear with it for now

GeorgeD1:
This and many more reasons is why it's better to go pure FTA. The money we think we are saving by going darkside ends up in the hands of shady vendors who are smiling to the banks at the expense of original content providers.
Let us be wise.
Viva FTA!!!

That's why u was quick to save others from the claws of this fraudster.

Thanks anyway
