There are indications that the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State may record low turnout of voters following Nnamdi KAnu’s declaration that he has 100 per cent control of the people.

Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ​stated that the entire people of South East were in support of his call for secession.

The IPOB leader said this in an interview with journalists late Friday.

Kanu, who warned the Igbo to immediately vacate the north, said “they have been in the North, and they have been killing us since 1945. If you chose to live in the North, you chose to be a sacrificial lamb because one day, they will kill you”.

​Speaking on the upcoming Anambra elections, he said, “​There will not be any election in Anambra on the 18th of November, 2017, and there won’t be any going forward until they give me a date for a referendum.

​On what could be done for elections to hold, Kanu said: “There will not be any election in Anambra on the 18th of November, 2017, and there won’t be any going forward until they give me a date for a referendum. They know what to do, it is very simple. They should convene a meeting, I attend or I send my representative and they give us a date. That is very simple. That is the only way we can have elections. ​” ​​

Asked if his position could lead to bloodshed: “Where on this earth have you ever found self-determination resulting in any form of conflict? Only in Nigeria, because those in the political class are not educated enough to understand or distinguish between self-determination and war. They don’t mean the same thing. Referendum does not mean the same thing as war. If there is war, we still have to sit round the table to discuss, ultimately. If there isn’t any war, we still need to discuss. Things cannot go on this way. The status quo can no longer hold. Like Evangelist Eliot Ukoh said, if on or before October 1st nothing happens in terms of substantive restructuring, they will support us.”

Asked if he was bothered that Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other Igbo leaders could boycott the election, he said, “No, I’m not because the people are with us. We control the people 100 per cent. And come to Anambra on the 18th of November, 2017, the whole world will be amazed”.

​”If people come out to vote, IPOB ​will not ​do​ anything. We are entirely peaceful. We are not stopping anyone from voting. If you want to vote, you can go and vote. We are democrats​” ​.

​On if he considers his interviews being against his bail conditions, Kanu said: “You (journalists) asked me a question. Do you suggest I should ignore you?.”

“I am replying you. That is what I am doing. I am not giving an interview, I am responding to the question you asked me..”

“The judge is a very learned fellow. She cannot stop me from speaking. Buhari and the DSS have been in multiple breach of court order after court order. I wish you can go to the DSS and ask Daura, what is his name? Lawal whatever his name is, the DSS Director General, why doesn’t DSS obey court orders?.”

“They are the ones flouting the court orders. It’s not me. What I am doing is entirely legal. You ask me a question and I respond because if I keep quiet, you see me as a very arrogant fellow”.

Asked if he is convinced Biafra agitation will come to pass, the IPOB leader said, “I am convinced because I am a Biafran. Anything we put our heart to, we accomplish it. We sustained the war for three years. Under the most heinous blockade and excommunication from the rest of humanity, we managed to survive for three years. So when Biafrans accept to do something, people should be concerned because we must accomplish what we are pursuing. I will accomplish what I am pursuing because I am a Biafran. Not the fake Biafra that people bandy about all over the place. We are very special, I can assure you.”

Speaking on the October 1 quit notice given Igbo by Arewa Youth, he said: Who gave the order? I don’t know who they are. Inconsequential street urchins. Badly educated. Not polished nor cultured enough to offer any opinion on any issue of great importance. So why should I respond to them?.”

On the condition for Igbo to abandon their property in the North for Biafra to be realized, He said: “That is the issue I have with education in Nigeria. People are badly educated. You are aware that Scotland is seeking to leave the United Kingdom? Are you remotely implying that every person from Scotland who lives in England should now return to Scotland? Britain just left the EU. Are you now implying that every British citizen in the EU should come back to Britain in order to finalise that process of extraction of Britain from the EU? It is an indictment of the education system in Nigeria that people go through school and come out even more hopeless than when they went into it.”

All commercial and vehicular activities in Imo state, Friday, came to a halt, following the visit of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Vanguard captured the event as millions of Pro Biafra supporters lined up and received their leader in the state capital at fire service junction, Wetheral road, Owerri.

I make this declaration with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes.

I weep for Nigeria, my beloved country!

Nations which were in the same league with us at independence have since joined the developed world, while we are daily retrogressing rather than make advancement.

In 2011, I wrote a book tittled MY PRESCRIPTION FOR NIGERIA.

In that publication, I stated the 23 areas that must be addressed for Nigeria to become the nation of our dreams.

Ever since, I’ve passed the content therein to our national leadership with very little willingness to so implement on their part, as this will make the occupation of political office strictly a seat for rendering SERVICE and not a ticket for self enrichment, taking the political and economic power away from them, placing it in the hands of the masses!

Seeing that our present crop of political leadership might never implement these recommendations, I have decided to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so that I can put machineries in place for the actualization of these recommendations, which will birth the New Nigeria of our dreams.

I hereby call on our youths, which form 70% of the Nigerian population, to rise up and join me in this civil revolution through the ballot box come 2019, rather than recycle the current political brigades.

You the youths are the ones to determine the political platform under which this project shall be actualized.

I am but a Medical Practitioner, not a money-bag. So you shall all contribute your window’s mite to the success of this project; our project!


Tell your friends, colleagues, siblings, parents, neighbours, that a new Nigeria is possible and together we can!

We shall not bribe electorates to get their votes come 2019. These politicians bribed them for votes not long ago, but now we are all suffering the consequences thereof.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said former President Olusegun Obasanjo was aware of the health challenges of his successor, the late Umaru Yar’Adua before the 2007 presidential poll.

Fayose headed the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Committee, which searched for the party’s presidential candidate in the 2007 election.

The governor, in an interview in the current edition of The Interview magazine, alleged that Obasanjo caused all the confusion in Nigeria today because he was determined to install a stooge.

Fayose also stated that the late President told him that he was not healthy enough to become Nigeria’s president.

He said members of the PDP’s committee included a former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje; a former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; the Senate President and ex-Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki, and a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori.

Fayose stated that the majority of members of the committee were disposed to having Makarfi as the presidential candidate.

He added, “As a loyal Obasanjo boy then, I went to Obasanjo and told him that this committee that was set up, everybody seemed to prefer Makarfi except me and one other person and we were in the minority.

“Five out of seven governors wanted Makarfi. Then Obasanjo pointedly told me that Makarfi was too smart and would not be easily controlled by him.”

Fayose stated that after Obasanjo’s alleged third term ambition failed, the ex-President directed him to go and “sound Yar’Adua out on the ticket.”

The Ekiti State governor quoted Obasanjo as saying, “Don’t tell him I asked you to come. You just psyche him up.”

He said he met Yar’Adua in the presence of Yakubu Tanimu, who later became the late President’s economic adviser.

“I acted as directed by Obasanjo, but the man told me expressly that he was not well enough to aspire to be Nigeria’s president; that the job would be too rigorous for him.

“After much persuasion, he then told me the only condition under which he might consider running was if all stakeholders would sign up and reach an agreement to pick him as the consensus candidate because he did not want any hassle,” he added.

He recalled that before then, Yar’Adua was usually absent from the Council of State’s meeting because of his health challenges.

Fayose stated, “I went to tell Baba (Obasanjo) what Yar’Adua told me. On the issue of Yar’Adua’s ill health, I remember Obasanjo told me, ‘Don’t worry about his sickness; government money dey to manage his ill health.”’

He claimed that Obasanjo “used” him to wreck the presidential ambition of former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar.

He said there was a time some PDP chieftains held a meeting in the house of the then Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.

According to him, the meeting, which he also attended, was meant to make Atiku a presidential candidate.

Fayose said before he got to his house, Obasanjo called to challenge him for attending a meeting with Atiku.

He stated that in the morning of the following day, he went to Atiku’s house to tell him that Obasanjo was aware of their meeting.

“But no sooner did I enter Obasanjo’s office than he barked, ‘You went to Atiku’s house again this morning. If you go again, I will crush you. If you go again, I will remove you as governor’.

“Obasanjo told me that when you capture a general and you don’t kill him, he’ll come back and kill you; that since Atiku tried to stop him and failed, he must pay for it. And he (Atiku) is still paying for it,” the governor added.

The governor stated that before Obasanjo’s third-term bid became obvious, he had a soft spot for an ex-Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili.

“You will recall that Odili was the only governor in Nigeria at that time that celebrated Obasanjo’s wife, Stella, after she died during an operation in Spain and showed Obasanjo’s family love beyond measure.

“But later, when Obasanjo told me Odili was going nowhere, I contacted Odili and warned him to be wary of Obasanjo,” he stated.

Fayose, however, said Odili dismissed his warning, saying Obasanjo would not do that.

He added, “I saw Odili as a very upright man; a complete gentleman. This was because Baba (Obasanjo) was still scheming for third term, but Odili thought Baba loved him and would do everything to help him.”

The governor alleged that Obasanjo told him that a PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George, would end up in prison when there were reports that he (George) wanted to be the party’s Board of Trustees chairman.

“Obasanjo did a lot of manipulations in his desperation to become the PDP BoT chairman after the third term bid failed,” Fayose stated.

The governor added that Obasanjo betrayed former Liberian President, Charles Taylor, to induce the United States support for his third term bid, after promising Taylor a safe haven in Nigeria.

He also claimed that the late Libyan dictator, Muammar Gadaffi, thwarted Obasanjo’s ambition to become the Chairman of the African Union for the third term
