CCT Trial: Why Aso Rock cabal saved Saraki
Details have emerged on why the cabal in the Presidency influenced the discontinuation of the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Dependable sources in the Presidency, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and some members of the National Assembly confirmed that a trade-off was reached between key actors in the legislature and a cabal in the Presidency.

The CCT recently shocked Nigerians and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) when it discharged and acquitted Saraki of the 18-count charge of false declaration of assets brought against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in a trial that lasted 22 months.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) compounded the situation when it disowned its lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Jacob (SAN), who was prosecuting Saraki at the CCT.

The commission claimed that Jacob acted in his individual capacity as a private prosecutor.

Faced with the scenario, the CCT Chairman, Mr. Danladi Umar, in the judgement, said that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against Saraki and consequently discharged him.

The AUTHORITY learnt that Saraki’s acquittal by the CCT has more to do with face-saving by the cabal who have “hijacked” the government in the absence of ailing President Muhammadu Buhari.

Saraki’s woes began when he went against APC leaders to emerge the Senate President on June 9, 2015 with support from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senators in the Upper Chambers.

The APC had picked Senator Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe) for the office.

Sources told The AUTHORITY that the cabal, comprising close friends of the President from the North, aborted the trial of Saraki to avoid the 2010 scenario which led to the Doctrine of Necessity that ushered in then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan as Acting President in the absence of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who was hospitalised in Jeddah.

The 7th Senate under the leadership of Sen. David Mark, citing Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, passed a resolution making Jonathan the Acting President.

The House of Representatives headed by Hon. Dimeji Bankole followed suit with a similar resolution.

Although there are arguments that since Buhari named Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as Acting President, there would be no room for the Senate resorting to that constitutional provision.

It was learnt that the cabal feared that if the trial of Saraki continued, he could do the unexpected if after 90 days President Buhari is unable to return to the country.

The AUTHORITY further gathered that the cabal moved to stop the war of attrition with Saraki to prevent him from ganging up with perceived enemies of the government to dig deep into the controversy surrounding the continued absence of President Buhari.

The sources added that Saraki was let go to stop him from fraternising with the APC National

Leader, Alhaji Bola Tinubu, who has been his foe since the inception of this administration.

Tinubu had accused Saraki of dissuading Buhari from picking him as his running mate during the 2015 presidential election, on the grounds that Nigerians would not accept a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

One of the sources said: “The cabal knows the implications of pushing Saraki into the hands of those who are looking for ways to push Buhari aside due to his sickness. Don’t forget the role played by David Mark in 2010. At this time, the cabal needs an ally, not a foe, to be at the head of the National Assembly. Who knows how far this situation will persist?”

“You know, Saraki and the godfather (Tinubu) of the Acting President are not the best of friends. He is going to be a useful tool in causing problems for the Acting President, now that they are not sure where the Buhari Presidency is heading”.

The cabal’s intervention came at a time the Presidency is engaged in a supremacy battle with the Saraki-led Senate on the powers of the National Assembly to confirm the appointees of the President.”

The refusal of Osinbajo to drop Ibrahim Magu as EFCC chairman as demanded by the Senate has drawn the ire of the lawmakers.

A Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, told The AUTHORITY that the cabal truly exists.

He said: “Clearly, the Senators and Saraki are up for a fight! It is a Yoruba fight. Bukola Saraki believes that Osinbajo and Tinubu are after him, and he wants to pre-empt them by holding onto the government. It is a tribal fight and they should go and sort out their tribal affairs.”

In his reaction, Second Republic Governor of Old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, accused the cabal of taking Nigerians for granted over Buhari’s health.

He said: “They are taking Nigerians for granted. Nigerians have to be taken into consideration because for the Presidency to make such statement shows that the situation is critical. It also means they are taking us for a ride.”

“The Federal Government should ensure that Nigerians know the truth; we cannot continue to be left in the dark. We cannot trust his aides as well. We need the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who claim to have met him, to find out the truth and tell Nigerians the truth.”

Similarly, pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, through its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said that “this season of power struggle will paralyse governance.”

On the need for Osinbajo to be firm and wise, Odumakin told The AUTHORITY that, “if the Acting President is a wise man and I know he is wise, he should not play into the hands of Magu. I think he should not sink with Magu.”

Human rights activist, Ogenyi Okpokwu, said: “Those who believe that Saraki was released to work with the cabal or the fact that there was arrangement with the CCT, cannot hold water. The Buhari administration has been able to lay a foundation in fighting corruption. He was discharged based on facts available to the CCT,” he said.

When contacted on the development, Buhari’s spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, referred The AUTHORITY to Mr. Laolu Akande, the Acting President’s Media Aide.

As at the time of filing this report, Akande had not responded to a text message and calls to his mobile phone.

9 Things Positive People Do Every Single Day

Do you constantly feel like a bunch of pirates are going to loot you? Even when you’re simply driving down the freeway in your car? Do you fear that you’re going to lose your job and live in the homeless park near your home? Do you see how the worst possible thing that goes wrong, goes wrong?

Many of us have a constant barrage of negative thoughts that we learned to cultivate during our childhoods. Instead of seeing the world in a positive and optimistic way, we continually wait for the other shoe to drop. We wait to see the worst that can happen because we fix our minds on the worst-case scenario.

Not everyone is like this, however. Nor do you have to see the world through a prism of negativity and disaster.

Here are 9 things the most positive people do every single day to help themselves stay optimistic about the world around them:

1. They don’t ruminate about what happened
.

Positive people understand that what happened, happened, and that nothing you do today can change the past. You can change your life only in the present moment. The past keeps you stuck. The present allows you to create the life you want and to take life into your own hands.

2. They live with less guilt and regret
.

No matter what they did in the past, positive people don’t have as much guilt or regret about things they did wrong or that went wrong. They see their errors and misguided decisions as things to learn from. They see their paths and the decisions they made in the past as them doing the best they could under the circumstances.

3. They see how disappointments are blessings.

While some may think of disappointments as failures, positive people tend to view disappointments as blessings. They see disappointments as learning opportunities, the seeds of wisdom and experience. They see disappointments as things they can get around. Even if it looks bad now, it’s a gift that has something to offer.

“Virtually nothing is impossible in this world if you just put your mind to it and maintain a positive attitude.” – Lou Holtz

4. They don’t blame others
.

Even if they come across something challenging, they don’t blame others for it. They’re not looking to pin the blame, get angry at or hold grudges against the people who might have contributed to the challenges at hand. Positive people generally view others as good people who are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

5. They are actively looking for the good.

You could be in the ocean and notice how dirty the beach is. You could be on an airplane and notice how poor the Wi-Fi is or stuck in traffic and complain about how you seem to spend your life in traffic.

Positive people tend to find the positive in any situation. They have a set of lenses that is scanning the world for anything helpful and inspiring, for the tiny speck of good that comes out of any situation.

6. They keep an eye on their words, thoughts and friends.

Positive people know that words – and, more importantly, thoughts – matter. They are more conscious about what goes into their mind because it can influence their thoughts. They move towards the inspiring and the positive while keeping the critical at bay.

Not only is their intake of information positive, they watch their thoughts through meditation or journaling. They squash thoughts of doom and gloom while celebrating thoughts of hope. They also keep an inner circle of encouraging and inspiring friends instead of people who see the glass as half empty.

7. They see setbacks and disappointments as temporary.

Positive people always look at difficult situations as passing things, like clouds or bad weather. They don’t see heavy rainfall or violent storms as things that stay. They know that with a good attitude, daily progress and an affirmative perspective, the winds of change will be around the corner. Not only do they see setbacks as passing, they see the negative as setting them up for something better.

“Adopting a really positive attitude can work wonders to adding years to your life, a spring to your step, a sparkle to your eye, and all of that.” – Christie Brinkley

8. They stay hopeful.

Along the same lines, positive people never give up hope. The business may be failing, there may not be a single customer and they may be in debt but positive people remain hopeful. They are hopeful that better days are around the corner.

They are hopeful because bad times never last. Finally, they are hopeful because they know that life has constantly come through for them. If they’ve gotten through tough times before, they will get through tough times now.

9. They believe life is working in their favor.

You have a choice as to how you see life’s unfolding circumstances. You can see life and your surrounding circumstances as bad karma, believing that life is looking to stick it to you.Or you can see the world around you as supportive and working to help you achieve your dreams.

If you believe the world is supporting you, you will expect good things to unfold. Surprises, miracles and circumstances will be in your favor each time. Positive people know that a positive worldview is a matter of perspective.Your perspective. Your choice.

How do you stay positive when you encounter a problem? Leave a comment below letting us know!

Politics2019: Tinubu Endorses Ganduje Kano Governor For Second Term by lightblazingnow(op): 3:20pm On Jul 17, 2017
2019: Tinubu endorses Kano governor for second term

The national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola, at the weekend in Kano, endorsed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for a second term in 2019.

During his condolence visit to Kano, on Sunday, to commiserate with Ganduje and the people of Kano State over the death of Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule, the APC leader, also used the occasion to condole, with Ganduje, over the death of his younger sister, as well as Malam Yusuf Ali, an APC leader, who recently lost his younger brother.

“It is a great honour and privilege for me to be here today, It has been very tough in the last few years. I grew up in the hands of two people, who know me to my home. One of them is Dan Masanin Kano, who has just passed on. One of them is living, he is a living legend, Malam Yusuf Ali.

“In fact, my bed room, where I am sleeping today, he has slept there; and he has been a great guiding light for me. He lost his brother, he lost a son, not too long ago. I have not been able to come and be with him.

“Well, it is only God who gives and takes. We cannot change any date of calendar as written by God Almighty. God will continue to be with you and console you. You will not repeat the loss, you will live long for us.

“And incidentally, I will repeat this when we get to Government House. Our brother, Ganduje, Your Excellency, you are saying eight years, some people are saying 12 years; but if you put coma in any line of the constitution, that is an amendment.

“So, I endorse eight years, we are with it, and with all our body and soul. You are a great man–and you are a very loyal man. We have been planning to come to condole, with you, following the bereavement of Dan Masanin Kano, it is not just a Kano bereavement, but a national bereavement. We should condole with you and the people of Kano state because you are bereaved.

“One thing that we must note in His Excellency, Governor Ganduje is this–he is one of the most straightforward, dependable individual. When you agree on something, or in the words of Donald Trump, ‘do a deal, with him,’ you can go to sleep because you will be the one to break that accord, not him.

“Ganduje, I want to say thank you. You are so humble, so dependable. You are a friend that is completely flexible. You have the understanding of family and friendship.

“So, if you say eight years, yes; before you add the other four years, I say watch–that other four years, maybe as a governor, maybe as a President. So, we will wait, let’s amortise the eight years first.”

On President Muhammadu Buhari’s health and the crisis between the executive and the legislature, Tinubu noted that the crisis between the two arms of government is normal in politics.

He said: “Honestly I don’t see any problem in the crisis between the legislature and executive because we are in politics and in politics, conflict and conflict resolution mechanism is an inbuilt system. Crisis, argument and communication are all part of politics and it has self-corrective process.

“The National Assembly is there to voice their objective or objection if it is constitutional or take action against the opposition, while the Executive is to do the job of Executive, they don’t have to be dog and nick to one another but for the peace, unity, prosperity, harmony and progress of the country, they have to work together, they are co-joined twins. They have to work together and no one can consume one another. If they play the politics well, Nigeria will be better for it.

“I am not a member of the presidential cabinet but I am a member of his party and I am a Nigerian. All we can do is to pray for him. Nothing anybody can do in the place of health challenge.

“He did not lie to us. He told us he was ill, and he needs to take care of himself. I don’t see any crisis about this situation. We are a nation that is very human, honest, compassionate, and resilient. We take care of our own neighbour.”

In his remarks, Governor Ganduje thanked Asiwaju Tinubu for his visit, as well as described him as the prime mover of politics, his mentor, Senator Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

”We are highly honoured that you came to Kano to condole, with the family members of Maitama Yusuf Sule, Dan Masanin Kano, whose death occurred about 10 days ago and myself, over the death of my sister, who died two days ago. We were not surprised that you did not come when Dan Masanin Kano died, you were outside the country but you phoned me and condoled me.”

According to Ganduje, Asiwaju is a great man, just like the late Dan Masanin Kano, adding that we have lost a great man, who possesses similar qualities like Tinubu.

”You a political giant across the Niger, you are a political giant across the other side of River Niger. In fact, you, in particular, you are the political pendulum of Nigerian politics, you are the mover, when you touch the pendulum, it starts swinging from one side to another. By the time you decide to stop it, wherever it stops, that side becomes heavier. Your new portfolio is, you are the mover of the political pendulum of Nigeria, that is your new name.”

”Maitama Sule believed in diversity, unity in diversity. When some people are advocating ethnic agitation, Maitama Sule was advocating for Unity in diversity, you too, your outlook is diversity. Maitama Sule believed that every part of this country, every tribe in this country, every ephemeral in this country, every religion in this country have a comparative advantage and by the time of the converging of comparative advantages, that is the nucleus of greatness, that is why America is great. People come from all over the World, with their wisdom, initiative, skills and boldness and a great country is created. So, if Nigerian leaders come together, if leaders fashion out, synchronise our differences through our advantage, Nigeria is on the way to becoming the United States of America.
