Just finished seeing the Avengers Endgame. There’s a possibility it’s gonna beat Avatar or Titanic as the highest gross selling movie. It’s epic! |

GAZZUZZ: the steering angle sensor is one of the components that makes up the Vehicle stability system. It measures the variations (in degrees) the steering makes. It is usually located under the steering wheel. It has no mechanical parts, so it seldom goes bad. What goes bad usually is the clock spring which is also attached to the steering angle sensor. Now this is my guess. The clock spring was replaced because of a loss of function on the steering (horn, buttons) when that was done it was not replaced with the exact part number that was removed, this changed caused the VSC system to see a Foreign part that it could not communicate with (the new steering angle sensor attached to the clock spring) this is an assumption. Pls respond by checking the part number of the clock spring where's your office address and contact? |

Hi Gazzuzz, i drive an RX350 2010 model though it was upgraded to 2014 bumper and kits, i went to diagnose my car and it says the Steering Angle Sensor is faulty. The AFS and AWD indicator lights are on. Whats the function of a Steering Angle Sensor and what's the estimate to get it fixed.
Thanks |

MotorGuru: You may just need a recalibration. If you are in Lagos you can contact Gazzuzz on this forum. by the way the car was upgraded to 2014 bumper and kit. so i don't know if that could be the reason. |

MotorGuru: The Steering angle sensor works with your Vehicle stability control (VSC) system which in simple terms prevents you from spinning out of control when you negotiate a sharp bend or corner at high speed due to excessive (or not enough) steering input. It does this by selectively braking specific wheels to either avoid over-steer (fishtailing ) or under-steer.
It is important you fix the problem (likely a calibration problem) because this will disable your VSC system (your VSC light will be on). Did you recently do an alignment work that required them to remove your steering wheel? I see, i did alignment but the steering wheel wasn't removed... the AFS and AWD system light is on. Any idea how much to fix that? thanks |
