Every woman has a small amount of fungus called YEAST that normally lives in the vagina in small numbers. A healthy vagina has many bacteria and a small number of yeast cells. The most common bacteria, Lactobacillus acidophilus, help keep other organisms—like the yeast—under control. When there is a too many yeast cells growing in the vagina, then it is an infection. These vagina infections are very common. Although they can bother the person having it a lot but they are not usually serious, and the treatment is simple.
Causes of Yeast Infection

Most yeast infections are caused by a type of yeast called Candida albicans.
1) When there is a change in the balance of the natural bacteria and yeast cells in the vagina, yeast can grow too much and cause symptoms.
2) Taking antibiotics sometimes causes this imbalance.
3) The high estrogen levels caused by pregnancy or hormone therapy can also cause it. Also
4) Certain health problems, like diabetes or HIV infection can cause yeast infection too.
5) Improper and inadequate personal hygiene.
Symptoms of Yeast Infection

The symptoms below are more likely to occur during the week before your menstrual period. A yeast infection causes
i) Itching or soreness in the vagina
ii) It sometimes causes pain or burning when you urinate or have sex.
iii) Some women also have a thick, clumpy, white discharge that has no odor and looks a little like cottage cheese.

If you have had a yeast infection before and can recognize the symptoms, and you aren’t pregnant, you can treat yourself at home with medicines you can buy without a prescription. You can use an antifungal cream, or a suppository that you put into your vagina, or antifungal tablets that you swallow.

If your symptoms are mild, you may want to wait to see if they clear up on their own.

Yeast infections are common during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, don’t use medicine for a yeast infection without talking to your doctor first.

Home Remedies For Yeast Infection

Garlic:
Garlic kills yeast. Those who bake bread know not to add garlic while the dough is rising or it will kill the yeast. Instead, garlic is added to the dough after it has risen, just before baking it in the oven.

A fresh garlic clove can easily cure a yeast infection. The trick is to catch the infection early. A woman who suffers from frequent yeast infections knows the feeling well. The first day, she feels just a tickle of itchiness that comes and goes. The next day, or sometimes two or three days later, the vaginal discharge starts to look white and lumpy like tiny bits of cottage cheese. By this time, she has a full-blown yeast infection and the lips of the vagina are often red and sore.

If a woman can pay attention to the first tickling of the yeast infection, she can use the following treatment. Take a clove of fresh garlic and peel off the natural white paper shell that covers it, leaving the clove intact. At bedtime, put the clove into the vagina. In the morning, remove the garlic clove and throw it in the toilet. The garlic often causes the vagina to have a watery discharge. One night’s treatment may be enough to kill the infection, or it might have to be repeated the next night. Continue one or two days until all itchiness is gone. The reason that the treatment is done at bedtime is that there is a connection between the mouth and the vagina. The moment the garlic is placed in the vagina, the taste of the garlic travels up to the mouth. Most people will find this strong flavor annoying during the day, so the treatment is recommended for nighttime.

Bitter Leaf Juice:
As the name implies, Bitter leaf which is packed full with Vitamin A, C, E, B1 and B2 is gotten from a bitter plant whose leaves, extracts, stems and barks are used for culinary, medicinal and curative purposes. Although this plant has been around for hundreds of years, only a few people know of its medicinal and healing properties.

This bitter juice is a great detoxifier; Taking a cup of bitter leaf juice a day, is a great way to detoxify and clean up the body of harmful toxins. Bitter leaf juice also nourishes the skin. Drink a cup of freshly squeezed bitter leave juice twice a day for two days to cure the yeast infection.

It’s easy to guess wrong about a vaginal infection. See your doctor if you aren’t sure what you have or if this is the first time you have had these symptoms. Also see your doctor if you are pregnant. Your doctor may want to do a vaginal exam.

Health / Breastfeeding While Pregnant, Is It Safe? by lillyjane(f): 7:17am On Dec 06, 2014
My wonderful people in the house, today’s topic will be centered on breastfeeding mothers. There is this friend of mine that got pregnant while her newborn was just 3months+. Hey, come and see advices coming in, ranging from stop breastfeeding the baby to the baby will die. In fact, the mother practically came to carry the small girl to her house ooo…..thank God for the husband who refused. Oh my! trust our mothers with their old wives tale. The lady in question is still breastfeeding her child till today, exactly 3 months after the whole drama. The baby is still alive, healthy and bouncing while the stomach is showing signs too.

This little narration above will form the basis of our discussion today. Is it safe to continue breastfeeding your little when you are pregnant? The old wives tale is it a fact, fiction or mere superstition?

Yes there are usually lots of bodily and emotional changes when one is pregnant. Nevertheless, you will be able to carry on with breastfeeding because your body will keep making milk for your little one.

If you are healthy and your pregnancy is going well, there is absolutely no reason to discontinue breastfeeding simply because you are pregnant. Just make sure you’re eating a healthy, balanced diet, so you and your baby are getting all the nutrients you need. If you are suffering from pregnancy sickness, just eat whatever you can cope with, though.

When breastfeeding, your body releases a hormone called oxytocin which is responsible for letting milk down. This same oxytocin is also important in labour, but your uterus (womb) won’t react to it until the end of your pregnancy, after 37 weeks. However, you may have sore in your nipple when you breastfeed, this is as a result of hormonal changes during the early stages of pregnancy that makes you have sensitive nipples.
There are few exceptions

If you notice one or more of these symptoms, you may, need to wean your baby before your next baby is born
1) If you have had a miscarriage before,
2) If you have had a premature labour before
3) If you have had some bleeding during pregnancy
4) If you notice that your breast milk has changed back to colostrum. Colostrum is the rich, nourishing fore-milk needed by your new baby in the first few days of life after the birth.

Moreover, your little one will notice the difference in the taste of the breast milk when the colostrum
production starts. Babies do one of these two options, either he decides to wean himself or he may be happy to carry on breastfeeding. If your little one chooses the later, please do not worry about using up your colostrum, as your body will continue to produce it until your new baby needs it.

With these few tips, we have seen that there is no negative effect of breastfeeding while still pregnant.

Have you ever found yourself in this situation? How did you manage it? Share your thought on the subject with us.

When it comes to having children, every gender is necessary even till this present time. However, the trend in technological development and women empowerment has forced couple to be contended with whatever sex God brings into this world through them. Ironically, if i must say, people now prefers all girls to all boys.

Health / Babies Skin – What You Need To Know by lillyjane(f): 3:15pm On Dec 03, 2014
Babies skin needs to be taken care of. The joy of every parent is to have a child. But the complete joy comes when you know that your child is well and healthy. Taking care of baby’s skin and general well-being could be very challenging as we have to be their mind, eyes and even their feelings.

If your child has rashes or any skin problem, believe me nobody would like to carry the baby when you go out. You as the parent(s) will also lack the self-esteem.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BABIES SKIN

I am going to be as plain and straight forward as possible and also teach you what works for me and my baby. First of all, to have that perfect skin you will cherish from your little one, you have to start when she is still in the uterus. Yes, the formation happens in there. Make sure you drink lots of water and eat more fruit and vegetables. It’s as simple as that.
Secondly, use the body care product that is mild and compatible with your baby’s skin, avoid impulse purchase due to brand or price. In fact, I make my own baby’s 100% natural body cream at home with shea butter, cocoanut oil and palm kernel oil.

Furthermore, make sure you cream your baby well and evenly too. while changing diaper, be generous with your made 100% organic cream or the purchased petroleum jelly based product. This will help your baby’s skin not to be damp by the time the diaper is soiled.

Change you baby’s diaper as often as it gets soiled to avoid being too soggy and causing rash thereafter with the accompanying discomfort.

Please share with us your own babies skin care routine or let us know if you are going o trying out this one.
