You have one of two options:

Option 1:
-write a creative essay on the subject "2 plus 2..."

Your writing should show creativity and depth of thought. It should be no less than 1000 words. You can write more if you want, but it's preferable to keep it below 2000 words. Write in a clear and concise way and let your mind wander. The topic is "2 plus 2...". So, you are free to come up with whatever theme you find suitable. But stay on the subject. If your writing doesn't stay on the subject, you won't win.

Option 2:
-original elaboration on a mathematical topic.

Choose a topic in maths and extend it with your own ideas, showing what your thought process is. Of course, I'm not requiring that you invent a new mathematical process. That's not warranted. But I want you to find a maths topic that interests you and to attempt to extend it in a way that you think is original or fresh or intuitive. For example, you could take the binomial theorem and, say, extend it by arguing for a trinomial theorem, showing the formulas and all. Be inventive and creative.
There is no limit to what you can write here.


You will make two submissions.
-a summary of your ideas which you will post here on nairaland
-your main submission/entry (essay or maths topic) which you will email to me. To establish communication with me, just send a PM.

All work must be your own. I will run submissions through plagiarism checkers to make sure. The sole requirement is that you must be a student in a Nigerian University

The prize money is 100k for the winner and 40k for two honourable mentions. This scholarship is open for 4 weeks from today. That's until 7th of May.

The EFCC has arraigned the trio of Alaka Abayomi Kamaldeen (alias Awise), Taiwo Fatai Olamilekan Ahmed (alias Ifa) and Akinola Bukola Augustina, a suspected syndicate of juju fraudsters, before Justice Adeyemi Ajayi of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, sitting in Abuja, on two -count charges bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretense to the tune of N250,000,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira).

The trio were arraigned on March 31, 2022 for obtaining the sum of N250 Million under a false pretence of offering local sacrifices to heal a petitioner of a protracted ailment.

Kamaldeen (alias Awise), Taiwo Fatai Olamilekan Ahmed (alias Ifa) and Akinola Bukola Augustina sometimes between the year 2019 and the year 2020 in Abuja allegedly conspired to illegally obtain the gross sum of N250,000,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) only from one Bright Juliet under the false pretense that they have supernatural powers and capable of healing her from an ailment at a shrine located at Asipa Town, Abeokuta, Ogun State, which they knew to be false.

The offence is contrary to Section 8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and Punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

They pleaded “not guilty” when the charges were read to them.

I have seen people taking decisions on incomplete information when it comes to choosing between cocoa and cashew cultivation. This has necessitated the creation of this thread to enlighten people on the profitability of the two considering land size, yield, maintenance etc.
