PoliticsFG Buying Pvcs With SIP Funds, Senator Olujimi Alleges by Limitednow(op):
The federal government has been alleged to have been buying the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) of Nigerians in-exchange for the funds of the Social Investment Programme (SIP).

The allegation was made by the minority leader of the Senate, Senator Biodun Olujimi at the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.

Mrs Olujimi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker, said the form which has ‘I Stand With Buhari’ inscribed on it was given to only Nigerians who can present their PVC to the intervention body.

“Right now the funds are being used for political reasons and they are being dispensed and given freely to people who can bring up their PVCs and signed several copies. The issuants are now in charge,” she said.

“One of the forms is here is here with me and it is being disbursed by the special intervention body.

“This one has ‘I Stand With Buhari’ and it has a place where your PVC will be written with your gender and an attachment from access bank are money will be dispensed to. There is no corruption greater than people using our collective funds to maintain a political party.

“There is a need for the committee to be set up to look into this issue. There has to be a high powered ad hoc committee that must look into this. It is an election year and people are using these funds that are not the best to buy PVCs and put them to use on election day,” Olujimi added.

Her allegation against the federal government threw the chamber into a rowdy session.

When normalcy returned, the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, asked the Senate Majority Leader, Ahmed Lawan, to responding to the allegation.

Dismissing the allegation, the Senate Leader said the programme has been transparent unlike the SURE-P programme of the last administration.

“I have listened attentively to the motion raised by the senate minority leader. Let me say from the onset that SIP of this administration is computer-based, very transparent,” Lawan said.

“That is why for the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have a fool-proof system that anywhere you may be in Nigeria, you will apply online,” he added.

The upper legislative chamber thereafter set up ad hoc committee to probe Olujimi’s allegation.

Stop Donating Money Like Father Christmas While Nigerians Remain Poor, Atiku Tells Buhari

Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned President Muhammadu Buhari to put a stop to frivolous spendings of the nation’s resources.

Mr Abubakar gave the warning in a statement signed by his campaign organisation.

The former vice president popularly known as Atiku was reacting to the recent approval of US$500,000, electoral kits and a number of vehicles to support the conduct of legislative election in Guinea Bissau.

Last week, Foreign Affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyema, stated that the substantial amount of money and other logistics are to help Guinea Bissau get out of what has been a very difficult situation for a number of years.

Reacting, Atiku said it is surprising that a country which plans to sell its assets to finance the 2019 budget would be giving out the money it borrowed while Nigerians wonder in abject poverty having been officially declared the poverty capital of the world.

The former vice president advised the president to stop giving out Nigeria’s resources for the benefit of other countries.

“Our response is to ask why a nation that has been officially named as the world headquarters of extreme poverty, will donate her resources to others instead of using them to solve pressing domestic problems,” the statement queried.

“This is the same government that is so cash strapped that it has so far borrowed N13tn in three years.

“How prudent is it to go about taking loans from whosoever cares and then turn around to give out the money when your own people are suffering the worst form of poverty?

“We call on the Muhammadu Buhari administration to cut its coat according to its cloth. He should stop donating like Father Christmas. He should attend to the need(s) of Nigerians.”

PoliticsMinimum Wage: Nnamdi Kanu Tells Labour To Boycott 2019 Election by Limitednow(op): 12:57pm On Nov 05, 2018
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has told Nigerian Workers how to get their demand on minimum wage without much ado.

Nigerian Workers had been at loggerheads with the federal and state governments in the country.

They are clamouring for an increase in the currently paid N18,000 minimum wage.

Initially, they pegged their demanded increase at N66,500 but later succumbed after much negotiation and agreed to go with N30,000 which state governors have refused to pay proposing theirs at N22,500.

The workers led by various labour unions in the country have decided to embark on an indefinite strike on November 6 despite a court order preventing them from going ahead with the planned industrial action.

For the separatist leader, the workers should boycott the 2019 general election to press home their demand which he said they will get if they adhere to his advise.

“Nigerian workers are on a minimum wage of N18,000 per month which is roughly $48 equivalent,” Mr Kanu said in a radio broadcast on Sunday suspected to have come from Isreal.

“Recently they have been begging the government to increase it to N30, 000 about $85 per month.

“So, far the government have refused. This demand can be met with minimal fuss before presidential elections of next year if the workers remain resolute and determined not to vote.

“We call on all labour unions in Nigeria to join IPOB in election boycott campaign,” he said.

Mr Kanu who is suspected to be in Isreal was smuggled out of the country last year September when the Nigerian Military staged an ‘Operation Python Dance’ around his residence.

The federal government in a move to curb IPOB’s growing influence across the country self-styled the group as terrorists.

Since his group was proscribed Kanu has not been publicly seen until recently when video of him allegedly shot in Isreal dominated the social media.

PoliticsIf Buhari Can Be President, My Son-in-law Should Be Governor – Okorocha by Limitednow(op): 10:53am On Nov 02, 2018
Rochas Okorocha, outgoing governor of Imo State, has said if President Muhammadu Buhari can be the Nigerian leader today then his Son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, should be allowed to be the next governor of Imo State.

Mr Okorocha stated this on Thursday after meeting with Mr Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor whose tenure winds down next year has been leading a front-line battle to ensure Mr Nwosu succeeds him in office.

The move has thrown the state chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) into chaos with the national leadership of the party.

It has also led to several governorship primaries of the APC being conducted in the state, pitching Mr Okorocha against Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the party.

The governor said two gubernatorial primaries conducted in the state was won by Nwosu and other candidates of the party but the national leadership have shortchanged the winners with their preferred candidates.

“The truth is that APC holds it as a point of duty and honour to declare winners of election and anything short of that will not go down well with the people and the history of APC in Nigeria and I beg to disagree with those who try to change the issue from what it is,” Okorocha said.

“So people are trying to change the truth but that is not going to work.

“APC must remain APC and our party’s NWC holds it as a point of duty to defend the integrity for which APC is known.

“Anything short of that will amount to self-destruction of the party.

“So when people try to change the narrative and to say Governors are bad losers, the governors want to impose people, excuse me, democracy is about the people.

“If the people have spoken, who are you to change what the people have said?

“Buhari is a President today because the people spoke and if Buhari can be a President because people spoke, then the party must respect that and allow the voice of the people to prevail in whatever election and avoid sentiments.

“The campaign they try to put forward is that Uche Nwosu can’t go because he is Okorocha’s son-in-law and I say to them, has Uche Nwosu gone contrary to any section of the Nigerian constitution?

“Nobody has been able to give an answer to that.

“Nobody has come forward to say that the young man is a criminal or that he is corrupt or does not have capacity.

“It is not just enough to sit back in Abuja and be talking.

“They should come to the state to understand the feelings of the people down home.

“That’s the point am making so my advice to our party is that our party should sit up and do the right thing and not allow the people get misled,” he said.

Advising Oshiomhole to maintain the self-acclaimed integrity for which he was voted for, Okorocha said failure to do so will means there is no difference between the APC and other opposition parties in the country.

“So I want to advice those behind this to stop forthwith and it is a directive that they should stop forthwith so that this party can enjoy that name that it is known for as a party of justice, equity and fairness.

“If not, there is no difference between this party and any other party in Nigeria.

“Ninety per cent of those who have joined APC in the last two months are doing so not because they love APC.

Dismissing reports making round that he was warning up to leave the party as rumor, the governor exonerated Buhari of claims that he was backing what was going on in APC.

“The option of leaving the party has not come to my mind.

“APC is my party.

“In 2011 when this party was called Boko Haram and Islamisation party, where were these people?

“Nobody gave us a chance that APC was going to win the 2015 election.

“So what makes you think that we are going to leave the party for those that came through the back door and are being given a voice by the National Chairman of our party?

“All you hear is rumour everywhere that they are backed by the Presidency, that Rochas should take one position and leave the other one as if we are sharing groundnut, but I tell them I have met the President and he told me he never said to anybody to impose a wrong candidate or to remove the name of anybody and change it with another in whatever guise.”

PoliticsMinimum Wage: Pay Workers Their Demand, Shehu Sani Tells Governors by Limitednow(op): 9:54am On Oct 31, 2018
Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central at the Senate, has urged State Governors to pay workers the amount they are demanding as new minimum wage.

Mr Sani gave the advise on Wednesday while reacting to reports of what the governors are willing pay as the new minimum wage.

State governors rising from an emergency meeting on Tuesday proposed to pay N22,500 as against the currently paid N18,000.

The proposal of the governors is below the N30,000 amount the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the umbrella body of workers in the country, are demanding.

They had threatened to embark on a nationwide industrial action if the government failed to agree to their demand on or before November 6.

While advising the governors to heed to the demand of the NLC, the lawmaker said the nation’s economy could afford to pay the amount demanded by the labour unions.

“NLC’s nationwide mass protest is commendable,” Mr Sani said of the planned downing of tools by workers in a tweet.

“Those who can pay 22k as minimum wage should just add 8k to make it 30k.

“Nigeria’s economy can sustain it.The struggle must continue,” he said.

The lawmaker added that he will strongly back the issue when the matter is tabled before the upper legislative chamber.

“I will add a strong voice of solidarity to this on the floor of the senate,” he added.

Buhari’s Certificate: Those Going To Court Are Abusing The Judiciary – Presidency

Those challenging the non-submmision of academic credentials of President Muhammadu Buhari in court are abusing the judicial system in the country.

The above remark was made by the Presidency while reacting to reports of critics of the administration who have decided to seek a legal redress in court over the issue.

Mr Buhari who is seeking a second term in office has again failed to submit his academic credentials to INEC. It is stipulated that candidates for elective positions must submit their credentials to the electoral body.

For Buhari, a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army, his certificates are with the military. He made the claims in an affidavit he attached to his presidential form in 2014.

The military came out to debunk the claim at the time. Some Nigerians who sought the disqualification of the President from participating in the 2015 election through legal redress ended up withdrawing their suit when Buhari won the election. They claimed their lives were threatened if they refused and went on with the case.

As Buhari seeks re-election, he has restated his position in his 2019 presidential form to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Some Nigerians including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the President, urging him to present his credentials or apologize.

Recently, the presidency was reported to have said the military who had earlier denied possession of Buhari’s certificates have now said they have lost hold of the documents. The military, as at press time, is yet to confirm the claim.

Reacting to the development, INEC advised critics who are doubting the information provided by presidential candidates in their form to approach a court of law.

The PDP and one other Nigerian, Itsede Kingley, has decided to seek a legal redress in court but the presidency seems to be panicking about the move.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, was quoted by Thisday Newspapers to have said lawyers of the party were “under instructions to challenge the president’s unsubstantiated claim in court.”

Reacting on Monday, the spokesman to the president, Garba Shehu, who described the move as a waste of time equally said it is an abuse of judicial system.

Mr Shehu said the act was shameful, disgusting and disgraceful.

“We have read that the failed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is going to court to challenge the President’s West African School Certificate (WASC),” the spokesman said in a statement.

“This is a waste of time because we have the record of this and of higher qualifications obtained by hard work and truly merited by Mr President.

“To approach the court to pursue a matter long settled by the temple of justice is an abuse of the judicial system. It is shameful, disgusting and disgraceful,” Shehu added.

Ezekwesili, your chances of becoming President not feasible because up Nigeria's North they do not allow women to rule over men just like in western world and you can't be president without their votes.

That's the bitter truth members of your party won't tell you.
PoliticsWhy Nigerians Should Elect Me President In 2019 – Ezekwesili by Limitednow(op): 4:54pm On Oct 29, 2018
Obiageli Ezekwesili, former Education Minister, has stated why Nigerians should elect her as President in the 2019 general election.

Mrs Ezekwesili, the candidate of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), said it was time Nigerians stopped recycling old and outdated leaders in the country.

She was instrumental to the start of the viral #BringBackOurGirls campaign on social media, which trended internationally.

Addressing a world press conference on Monday with the theme: “For Those Who Say We Cannot Win,” the former minister warned Nigerians against re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari.

The text of her address was reproduced through her twitter handle.

She said the president has now shown neither the capacity nor the aptitude for the highest office in the land.

She also advised Nigerians not to elect the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, as attempting to choose between the duo is like asking one to choose between death by poison or death by gunshot.

“Do you remember? The chant all across the country was ‘Anyone But Jonathan’. Sadly, that is how we ended up with this reprobate government,” Ezekwesili recalled.

“This time it is: ‘Anyone But Buhari’. And by that they mean that we should reinstate the failed PDP and its candidate, former vice president Atiku Abubakar because they think Atiku is the only person that can defeat Buhari in 2019.

“And in 2023, when Atiku and the PDP inevitably fail again, because a bad tree cannot bear good fruit, we will hear new chants of ‘Anyone But Atiku’.

“2019 cannot be ‘Anyone But Buhari’. Our country is not a recycling plant for uninspiring old men with their old ideas and old dubious characters. We deserve better than their aggressive mediocrity.

“And that is why I am running for president – to lead a people’s movement that will permanently terminate bad leadership, retire these incompetents and fight for every Nigerian.

“For those of you considering the PDP as an alternative, I really want to ask you: what is the thing that you see about them that is any different from the APC. Really? These people are the same: Siamese Twins of Failure.

“We cannot reject one oppressor and hand over to another oppressor. We do not love bondage. We do not enjoy suffering.

“These people are brothers and sisters of iniquity and impoverishment, merchants of failure and dissapointment.

“Six and a half years after, I had fought the fight that had to be fought from within, and then I left government knowing for sure that if this political order is not changed, the work of good governance that we do within government will never last.

“I decided not to re-enter government, rebuffing every request made since, and instead made a decision to dedicate my life to activating citizens to push these blood-sucking political class out of office.

She highlighted was her government would look like if elected President saying they would be no time for blame game.

“My leadership will not be by trial and error, and I will not spend my time making excuses and blaming others.

“An Oby Ezekwesili presidency will not only work to create an enabling environment for our young people to explore their greatest potentials and be globally competitive, but they will actually power the government.

“Because I know that the poor mother whose children will sleep without food tonight does not care about excuses or blame games. The 4 million Nigerians who lost their jobs last year do not have time for excuses or blame games.

“Leah Sharibu and the several other young girls whose futures are being snatched by terrorists do not have time for excuses or blame games. The small business owner who spends half of his earnings on generating his own power does not have time for excuses or blame games.

“They want results, results, results. They want tried and tested leadership; a leadership that is data-driven, independent-minded and solutions-centred.

“You know my record. You know that when I say it, I do it. You know that when I promise it, I keep my word.

“Don’t you finally deserve a president you know can and will do what she says she will do – no stories, no hidden agenda, no dodgy friends; just working every day for you and our children?

“Are we not tired of managing poverty, and death, and destruction?

“How sad it will be if we choose to reelect incompetence, stagnation and mediocrity. How equally sad it will be if we elect a shady, unprincipled individual who hops from one party to another every election season and has a corruption file in the United States Department of State.

“Our agenda is about creating wealth – growing the pie exponentially, creating jobs, building shared prosperity and taking at least 80 million Nigerians out of poverty.

“The agenda is to mobilize the energies of the people and our private sector, invest in upgrading our capacity capabilities to compete globally, and end the bad policies which have turned Nigeria into Poverty Central.

“Importantly, our actions will center on mobilizing the youth, building and adopting science and technology to disrupt the status quo in every sector, implementing reforms and reorganization to reduce bureaucracy, and making government a partner instead of an enemy of progress,” Ezekwesili added.

PoliticsMilitary Says They Have Lost Buhari’s Academic Credentials – Presidency by Limitednow(op):
The Nigerian Army is said to have lost the academic credentials of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The new claim is from the Presidency while reacting to calls from critics of the present administration urging Mr Buhari to either present his educational qualifications to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or apologize to Nigerians.

Although the military came out to debunk the claim, the president has restated his position in his 2019 presidential form.

For the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Buhari should present his academic credentials to INEC or apologize to Nigerians.

Reacting to the development, the Presidency noted that the military has lost the academic certificates of the president.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President who quoted by TheNation Newspaper to have said those discussing the issue have nothing to do as the subject matter had long been laid to rest.

“The certificate saga is a dead issue, only idle people will consider it,” he said.

“Those raising the issue (PDP and others) are idle and they have run out of ideas. They see defeat staring them in the face and they are desperate to cling to any straw. This issue was resolved before the 2015 election.

“The military already said they lost the certificates. But does it mean that it did not exist that the president went to school, sat for examinations and passed; attended military courses and War College?

“It does not change the fact that the president rose through the ranks to become a Major-General in the Nigerian Army and a Military Head of State.

“Didn’t those opposed to President Buhari go to court over his certificate and lost before? They will still lose this time around. It is a dead issue,” Mr Adesina said.

The Presidency has said only lazy people are the ones discussing the non-submission certificate saga of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Buhari who is seeking a second term in office has again failed to submit his academic credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). It is stipulated that candidates for elective positions must submit their credentials to the electoral body.

For Buhari, a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army, his certificates are with the military. He made the claims in an affidavit he attached to his presidential form at the time. The military came out to debunk the claim.

The issue first came to national discuss in 2014 when it was made know to the public that the then candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) had no educational qualification to back up documents he submitted to INEC.

Although Buhari, who now governs the country, had severally contested election to the same position and failed, the issue of his educational qualifications had not been known until 2014 when it came to the knowledge of the public.

NGPOLITICS recalled some Nigerians at the time said the revelation was the handiwork of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suppress the growing influence of Buhari.

Submitting his 2019 presidential form, the president restated his earlier claim, an action that has generated reactions from Nigerians with some of them saying the president was being economical with the truth on the whereabout of his academic credentials.

For the PDP, Buhari should present his academic credentials to INEC or apologize to Nigerians.

Reacting to the development, the Presidency said those discussing the issue have nothing to do as the subject matter had long been laid to rest.

“The certificate saga is a dead issue, only idle people will consider it,” TheNation Newspaper quoted Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, as saying on Saturday.

“It is something that had been laid to rest before the 2015 general elections.

“Those raising the issue (PDP and others) are idle and they have run out of ideas. They see defeat staring them in the face and they are desperate to cling to any straw. This issue was resolved before the 2015 election.

“It is a matter of fact that when President Buhari and others joined the military, they took their original certificates from them. The military knew where they kept the original certificates of the president.

“In fact, a former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, corroborated that the military collected the original certificates of all its officers. The PDP believes it is going to lose the elections, and they will lose, and it is raising dust over a dead issue.

Nigerian Youths have been urged not to worry themselves about becoming president of the country now.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, gave the advise on Saturday while answering questions at the 9th Sigma Club Public Lecture held on Saturday at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan.

Delivering his lecture titled “Developing the nation through youth empowerment,” the professor of law urged the youths of the country to start from the grassroots, move on to the local government level, then to the state level.

Osinbajo, when asked the rationale behind the exorbitant price of the nomination form of the All Progressive Congress (APC), said the chances of Nigerian youths producing a president now was feasible because the time is yet to come.

“As for the federal level, “don’t worry yourself about running for president; it will take a while,” the International Center for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) quoted the vice president as saying.

He also said anyone who wants venture into politics should also go into public service.

“Anybody who wants a career in political positions should also make an attempt to get involved in public service since there are less than 2000 of such positions. Get involved in public service,” he added, calling on the youths to always hold the government accountable if theri future as leaders of tomorrow would be guaranteed.

His principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, who seeks a second term in office, NGPOLITICS recalls, had his expression of interest and nomination forms of the party paid for by his supporters.

The cost of the presidential forms of the two major political parties in the country has been so high that the youths could not afford it although the young population was described by the government as people who are lazy, seeking to reap where they did not sow.

While the cost of 2019 presidential form of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was fixed at N12million that of the APC was pegged at N45million.
