PoliticsWhy Herdsmen Value The Lives Of Cows Than Their Lives – Lawmaker by Limitednow(op):
HERDSMEN are said to attach more value to the lives of their cows than their own lives.

This was the position of Hon. Aishatu Jibril Dukku who represents Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State at the House of Representatives.

Dukku made the submission during plenary on Friday on the recent herdsmen herdsmen killing across the country.

She herdsmen value the lives of their animals more than that of themselves because God created them to be so.

“You can’t sit down and make conclusions on herdsmen. Yes, they values life of their cows more than even their own lives because that is how God has created them,” she hinted.

She then clamoured for a workable solution in favour of the herdsmen.

BENUE residents are still living in fear of herdsmen, the State governor, Samuel Ortom, has said.

Ortom disclosed this on Friday when the governors of All Progressive Congress (APC) led by Shetima Kashim paid the State a condolence visit over the recent massacre of its citizens by suspected Fulani herdsmen on new year day.

“We thank God that peace is gradually returning to the state but there are still pockets of challenges here, we know the challenges will soon be over because our people are always alert to give useful information to security operatives around”.

“Let me tell you that our people are still living in fear and under siege, living in fear because of the series of threat by Kautal Hore which started the threat since seven months ago”, they are not a mere threat.”

“We have evidence against them, what we are saying is that federal government should arrest the leadership of Kautal Hore,” he said

Ortom enjoined Nigerian leaders to always be sincere and truthful, this he said would make Nigeria takes its rightful position as the giant of Africa if leaders are sincere and stand by the truth.

“This country is blessed with great potentials to be great in the world and that is if we leaders should stop pretending but stand by the truth.”

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, Mallam El Rufai (Kaduna), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Mohamad Abubakar (Jigawa) and the deputy governor of Osun state, Chief Mrs Grace Titilayo Tomori were among the visiting delegation

PoliticsThere Is No Difference Between APC And PDP – Shehu Sani by Limitednow(op): 11:07pm On Jan 18, 2018
SENATOR representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has stated that there is no difference between the two major political parties in Nigeria.

https://i1.wp.com/www.headlineng.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Shehu-Sani.jpg?fit=596%2C333&ssl=1

Sani while delivering his lecture at a programme in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Thursday hinted that the only difference between the two parties was it names.

The lawmaker who queried the ideology of the two parties said while the All Progressive Congress (APC) was formed to drive out the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was established to drive military out of power in 1999.

“We are only differentiated by names.

“When I see some of my colleagues trying to come into our party, I ask them: have you find out how those of us in the party are fairing? Most of you will end up from Syria to Afghanistan. All is not well with this country,” he said.

Continuing, Sani said, “The PDP came into existence because there is a need to have a national party that will take over from the military. The APC came into power to de-establish the PDP and drive Jonathan out of power and in the process, we have all sorts of people.”

He called for massive but peaceful protest to awaken the conscience of the leaders in the country stating that rather than taking proactive and decisive steps towards addressing the nation’s problems, political office holders are busy strategizing for re-election in 2019.

“All is not well with this country. This is the wrong time to shed blood in Nigeria. If you think that people in power will stop the problem in the country, you are in for a fool’s ride. The attention of people is how to win elections and not how they can end senseless killings and bloodshed.

“It would require a mass, peaceful march in the streets from Nigerians to recharge the conscience of people in power.

“Nigerians are dying in hundreds and in thousands and some people felt what is important is INEC timetable, when is elections and when is primaries.

“It is difficult to hear any public office holder speak the truth because of political calculations. Anybody who says we are not in crisis now is deceiving himself.”

THE Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday dismissed the application by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) request to reverse the court’s order proscribing it and designating it a terrorist organisation.

Delivering his ruling on IPOB’s application, the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High, Justice Abdu Kafarati, resolved all the three formulated issues against the group, and held that September 20, 2017 proscription order was validly issued.

Punch reports that the judge dismissed the contention of IPOB’s lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who submitted that IPOB not being registered in Nigeria but only registered in some other countries, could not be sued in Nigeria.

The judge noted that an organisation registered abroad could be likened to a foreigner who could be arrested in another country where he was found to have committed a crime.

The judge also held that the issuance of the proscription order by him in chambers following an ex parte application was in accordance with the provisions of the Terrorism Prevention Act.

The judge awarded the sum of N500 as cost against IPOB.

PoliticsCabals Appointing Incompetent People In Buhari’s Government – Senator Misau by Limitednow(op): 6:21pm On Jan 18, 2018
SENATOR representing Bauchi Central Senatorial district, Isah Misau, has said that all the appointments being made by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration are the handiwork of the cabals.

https://i1.wp.com/www.headlineng.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Senator-Misau-Isah.jpg?fit=691%2C380&ssl=1

Misau who stated this on Thursday at the Senate plenary, pointedly told his colleagues that Mr. Buhari was not the one running the affairs of this nation.

He was speaking on the menace of alleged Fulani herdsmen and the need to reform the Nigeria Police Force, citing that the police was doing nothing to arrest the situation of killings across the country which has increased even after the chamber gave the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, an ultimatum to arrest the culprits so they could face the wrath of the law.

The senator said over fifty percent of those appointed by this government were incompetent as their portfolio were assigned to them by the cabals who determines those to be appointed.

“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, President Buhari is not in charge, but the cabals. They determine who and who to be appointed,” he said.

The lawmaker also said a minister was fronting the removal of the red chamber’s president, Bukola Saraki, while they went for the Christmas and New year holiday stating that their reason was that Saraki may leave the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Misau who urged Saraki to call the executive to order said it was time to jettison ethnicity, tribe, and religion to work for the betterment of the country.

Calling names, he said: “The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, was almost a nuisance.”

He also faulted the recent appointment of a Director General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA) pointing out that his appointment was the handiwork of the cabals.

HEADLINE recalls that this is not the first time a lawmaker in the senate was attacking the president insisting that he is not in charge of the government.

Last year, a senator representing Ekiti-south senatorial district, Mrs Biodun Olujimi, had made the same allegation as Misau.

Mrs. Olujimi said President Buhari had lost his authority as ‘nobody’ was in charge of the current administration.

She was reacting to the face-off which would have turned bloody between two agencies which are under the control of the president.

“Right now, we have a situation whereby nobody is in charge of anything and we cannot honestly blame anyone for what is happening. The truth is that you cannot go to the house of a security agent, a man who had kept the secrets of Nigeria for so long, and just try to arrest him like chicken.

“Mr. President, there has to be someone that we can hold responsible when two brothers are fighting. The person that is supposed to be held responsible has not done anything, is not doing his work.

“This is the first time we’ll see gross irresponsibility in government whereby there is no arbiter. No one to come in between two agencies that belong to only one person. The two agencies report to one person, the presidency and now we find them fighting on the pages of the newspapers, it’s a shame. We are calling on the President, he has to sit up, he should be up and doing. Call these people to order,” she said.

As at press time, effort to get to get the reaction of the presidency on Misau allegation proved abortive as calls placed to the president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, repeatedly rang unanswered.

THE Youth wing of the Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze, has proscribed herdsmen in the South-East region.

The group in a statement jointly signed by its President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike and National Publicity Secretary, Obinna Adibe, urged the Federal Government the declared herdsmen as terrorists.

While cautioning youths across the zone not to take laws into their hands, it stated that self defence was the only option left to tackle the menace of herdsmen across the region.

“We condemn, vehemently, the terrorist attack by the Fulani herdsmen and call for self defence as a measure to halt it. We hail Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the heroic stand of Governor Willie Obiano for rejecting the cattle colonies in Abia and Anambra states. We know other Igbo governors will follow the footsteps of their colleagues and reject these anti-people’s policy. We are calling on the Federal Government to establish piggy colonies in Northern Nigeria to help feed our people over there,” it said.

The group which said its proscription of herdsmen in the region was with immediate effect warned that “any attempt to ignore this warning, they will have themselves to blame.”

This development was confirmed by the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, who immediately summoned a meeting on Tuesday night at the Government House in Ado Ekiti.

He warned farmers and herdsmen in the state against turning his domain to a “war zone.”

Babuba Dengi was given as the name of the herdsman who was killed in a bush between Oke Ako and Irele communities by settlers suspected to be Benue State indigenes.

Fayose giving a marching order to security agencies in the state to fish out the killers of the herdsman and bring them to justice said, “recent steps taken by his administration to prevent violence between farmers and herdsmen do not give anybody license to unlawfully take human’s life.”

PoliticsUproar In Senate As PDP Senators Bar Colleague From Defecting To APC by Limitednow(op): 1:37pm On Jan 17, 2018
THERE was uproar in the Senate over a senator who wanted dumping his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for the All Progressive Congress (APC), on Wednesday.

Senator Sonni Ogbuoji representing Ebonyi South in the upper legislative chamber had come under order 43 of the rules of the Senate to announce his official defection from the PDP to the APC.

Attempting to make his declaration, PDP Senators pounced on him, while APC Senators came to rescue him.

The situation saw him been dragged here and there by the two parties who also assaulted themselves in the process.

After the commotion, Ogbuoji dumped his defection bid and announced that he was withdrawing his earlier announcement.

“I came under order 43 with the intention that I needed to make some declarations this morning. But my party, the PDP felt I had not consulted with them enough.

“So, because of the love they had shown to me in the past, I’m stepping down my decision to decamp”, Ogbuoji declared.

The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki who presided over the plenary, did not object to the withdrawal of statement of defection.

PoliticsBuhari Responsible For Fuel Scarcity — PDP by Limitednow(op): 8:12am On Dec 23, 2017
PRESIDENT Muhammad Buhari has been blamed for the lingering fuel scarcity across the country as yuluetide season approaches.

This blame is coming from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

The opposition party in a statement on Friday signed by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, said Nigerians are languishing under the president’s rule because the scarcity has led to increase in transport fare, household costs, prices of food, medicines and other basic needs of the people.

The crisis has lingered for many weeks despite assurances from the government that it would soon be resolved.

In the statement, the party said, ”it is not enough for the President to sit in his comfort zone and put the blame of the fuel scarcity at the doorsteps of marketers.”

“The unbearable fuel situation in the country is completely unacceptable. Mr. President must become up and doing. He should not allow anybody to push him to claim that the issue of fuel scarcity is not under the purview of the Minister of Petroleum Resources. When he took office as President of Nigeria and also as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, he was aware that the buck stops at his table.

“Nigerians must not be made to suffer especially at this time of the year when we have the Yuletide and New Year festivities, which come with a lot of activities.

“This is the same APC government that promised that it will make fuel available and affordable. Today, under their deceitful and corrupt watch, fuel has not only become extremely scarce, the price has also risen from where the PDP left it at N86.50k per liter to as high as N300 per liter and above.

“But should Nigerians be subjected to this type of anguish and pain after supporting APC to win election in 2015? Does APC indeed deserve another support in 2019?

“Whereas we know that the time is already up for the APC, we nevertheless urge Mr. President to, within the remaining short time, rise up to his responsibilities as the minister of petroleum or immediately relinquish that position and allow a competent person to run the ministry. Enough is enough”, the party said.

The statement urged Nigerians not to despair but rekindle their hope in the future as the PDP is now repositioned to regain power in 2019 and return the nation to the path of good governance, social stability and economic growth, ”for which it is generally known.”

PoliticsRe: Fresh PDP Are Mere Detractors – Secondus by Limitednow(op): 12:33am On Dec 21, 2017
Good one from Second us!

Don't let me intimidate you!
PoliticsFresh PDP Are Mere Detractors – Secondus by Limitednow(op):
THE newly elected national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has described the new faction of the party as “mere detractors.”

Secondus, on Wednesday, in Ado-ekiti, stated this while leading other members of the party’s National Working Committee ( NWC) for the local government election rally coming up in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday.

“We are not distracted by elements of distractions, we are focused we know the enemies are at work, we know several things have been going on with some wanting to prevent our convention. But since we have had a peaceful convention they are not happy. We know these people, even those from outside and we will name them when the time comes,” he said.

Playing host to the PDP leadership, Governor Fayose said the ‘Fresh PDP’ are miscreants meant for the prison.

“In a civilised society those parading themselves as fresh PDP should have been clamped into jail. They are simply charlatans. I won’t be surprised and we are doing investigations to know those who are behind them. In a society like Nigeria, where we need a virile opposition, we need to continually put the government of the day on its toes for them to know that Nigeria is greater than all of us, some miscreants would just make press statement and say they are splinter group or whatever they call themselves.

“In a proper democracy, they are supposed to have been arrested and detained for breaching the peace of the society as their action is unwarranted and uncalled for.

“But we are not going to celebrate such by making an issue out of it. Nigeria needs peace at all times. We are not going to go back to the days of Sherif and co, by giving attentions to those idiots making noise all over the place. This party will remain focused and move on.

“I urge Nigerians to ignore them. When I saw them on the Internet, they were faceless people I cannot recognise so they remains a set of jobless and miscreants,” Fayose stated.

The governor also reacted to those who have dragged the party to court demanding the cancellation of the convention.

”I don’t mind if you go to court, it is different from some people going to the television and parade themselves as fresh whatever, are they dirty before. If you feel aggreived, ideally they have all signed undertaking to accept outcome of the convention. How can you who didn’t get a single vote now go to court over what? The apex body of the country’s judiciary has warned judges to be wary of politicians in the build up to the general elections in 2019. And I am sure no judge would want to put his jobs on the line by allowing jobber politicians who are looking desperately for money. We will not join issues with those from the latrine,” Fayose said

A new factional group has emerged in the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

The new group according to The Nation Newspaper is led by Prince Obi Nwosu and four others.

The four others are namely;
Alhaji Hassan Adamu;

Chief Godwin Duru and
Franklyne Edede.

The five men are reportedly believed to be loyalists working for one of the chairmanship aspirants in the party national convention held on December 9.

They opened a new secretariat for their faction in Asokoro District of Abuja.

The slogan of the new group is “Fresh PDP, PDP First.”

The PDP duly recognized national secretariat is located at Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja.

Why does this government act before thinking?
PoliticsApproved $1billion Not For Boko Haram War Alone – Osinbajo by Limitednow(op): 6:23pm On Dec 19, 2017
VICE President, Yemi Osinbajo has clarified that the controversial $1 billion originally approved by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) at Thursday’s meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting was not meant for the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency alone.

Osinbajo stated that the fund was approved for the entire nation’s security architecture including “policing in the states, community policing, all of the different security challenges that we have.”

He disclosed this on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja at the opening of a retreat organised by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for Secretaries to State Governments.

“It was on account of the security summit that the governors, at the Governors’ Forum, subsequently decided that they would vote a certain sum of money, which has become somewhat controversial, the $1billion, to assist the security architecture of the country.

“It was to assist all of the issues in the states, including policing in the states, community policing, all of the different security challenges that we have.

“It was after the security summit that the Governors’ Forum met across party lines. Again, I must add, in order to approve and to accept that this is what is needed to be done to shore up our security architecture,” Osinbajo stated.

His clarification contradicts the disclosure by Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, who briefed State House reporters after the NEC meeting, that “Pleased with the achievements that have been made till date in the fight against insurgency, particularly in the northeast, the governors of Nigeria, through their chairman, announced at the NEC meeting that the governors have given permission to the Federal Government to spend the sum of $1bn on the fight of insurgency.”

The SGF, Boss Mustapha, explained that the retreat was to create a full, effective and efficient function of the states’ structure, saying, “It is therefore imperative that we strive to achieve synergy at this level of governance between the federal, state and local government structures.”

AYODELE Fayose, Ekiti State governor, has denied that his administration has committed the state into any debt.

Fayose disclosed this on Monday during an interface with civil servants in the state.

A national daily had published over the weekend that the Debts Management Office (DMO) of the Federal Ministry of Finance had in its lastest edition detailed how Ekiti debt summed up to N56billion since the incoming of the Fayose administration.

Fayose said the huge debt burden left by the previous administration was too much for the state to cope with hence it would amount to punishing the state and her people if more debts were incurred.

He also disclosed that his state got N4.7 billion from the latest tranche of the Paris Club Refund money.

On the controversy trailing the withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Oil Account, Fayose said he would challenge the decision in court.

“The previous administration left the state reeling in a debt burden that we will repay for the next 20 years and we cannot further inflict more burdens on the hapless people of the state. We have been prudent in the management of our scarce resources and the opposition All Progressives Congress peddling unfounded rumours that we have borrowed N56 billion are only saying balderdash.

“Their party is in control at the federal level and they have access to the Ministry of Finance, Accountant General of the Federation, the Debt Management Office, among others, let them make whatever they have public. Nigerians are no fools,” he stated.

On the money received from the Paris Club Refund, Fayose said labour leaders would meet with government officials to determine how it would be spent the N4.7 billion.

On the controversial withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Oil Account, Fayose noted that any tier of government opposing the action by the Federal Government should be given its money for it to spend it the way it likes.
