I agree and I’ve been thinking about it, thou its not as if I have any power to bring it to accomplishment but he’s a very rugged politician that knows how to read the polity and port at the right time. The way he got into Asiwaju’s good books even after been an opposition politician to Buhari for 8 years needs to be studied.

He never decamped all through but remained a very strong party faithful. His hold on godfatherism is absolute, has a heart of a leader that Nigeria needs. If God spares his life, he will go far on the leadership ladder.

I wish Dangote could be president with Wike as vice president — I believe their partnership would deliver greater benefits for Nigerians.

I always expect people to counter arguments with facts, reasons and maturity. You can't just be insulting somone who presented his opinion without giving him a good reason why he might be wrong.

I dont think one can gather followership with insults, instead it is by reasoning. Isn't why we have debates?

They are mostly short sighted folks with no skin in the game. The whole strategy of LAPO from inception was to provide the same micro-loans to traders and Small scale businesses----which thas grown significatntly.

It's possible he has paid more of it since then.

You’re confusing loan repayments with equity contributions—what was paid down was lenders’ loan, not Nigeria/NNPC’s equity injections.

Dangote got no loopholes from any government.

IN 2012, we had 60 refining licences, today we have about six working refineries, including Dangote. (BUA is building a refinery now, and two others are on the drawing board and planning stage).

Dangote got loans totalling 20 billion dollars, out of which less than 3 billion came from APC governments. Which have since been repaid.

If you guys had supported subsidy removal in 2012, we could have had more refineries by now.

Not sure it’s has been repaid pls do you have any source for that?

I wouldn't be surprised if Tinubu has sent emissaries to Kanu. Tinubu’s strategy is simple. Disenfranchise Obi from the race, release Nnamdi kanu and then drop Shettima in favour of a Northern Christian and then attempt to make 2027 a North vs South affair. He has sampled opinions online and believes the myth that the entire South will vote for him if Obi is not on the ballot but he may be miscalculating and underestimating the level of his unpopularity. Tinubu is even more unpopular across the South than he is in the North today and disenfranchising Obi will only make it worse.

I share your concern, but if they win, this banana-peel issue could be used to eject them and plunge the country into chaos. I hope they stay on the ballot. And the idea that APC is scared of NDC is absurd.

We don't have court in Nigeria, we have cult. As for INEC chairman, he works for Mr. President. So, it's just a waste of time.

Meanwhile, it comes from that same “non-existent” court that appears to serve Mr. President — the very court that gave your principal the chance to run on the NDC presidential ticket. If they were truly in BAT’s pocket, that ruling would be an anomaly — unless it’s another trap.

Discos are extortion companies and not a power distribution company

This is not an advocacy issue but market economics. @OP as long as government is maintaining subsidies and also continues to be active player in the sector no power sector player will have the incentives to raise capital to fix the problems. There’s no certainty of recouping any investments made in to the system with the current setup.

Good idea but you know what it will mean? It will have to upend the current manner the sector is currently run which is my point. We need strategic systematic overhauls midwifed by strong-willed groups of leaders.

I believe the president has the courage to do what’s necessary. The national grid no longer poses the security risk it once did; telcos and digital infrastructure matter more to our economy. So remove subsidies and fully deregulate power to attract private investment and expand service for those who can pay. Meanwhile, the government should provide targeted relief — for example, partnering with China to distribute solar panels and batteries to rural constituencies through National Assembly members. Investors will prioritize paying customers; govt support can fill the gap.

How does the fact that a region's cumulative smaller votes translate to its insignificance upon considering the overall election figures by the Electoral Commission.

What’s hard to understand about his point of view? If a country can run three election cycles without your input, your political influence is nearly gone — so how will you protect your region’s interests?

That’s the problem with all this surface-level political thinking: for a developing economy, capital is like oxygen—it needs as much as possible. The flow rate, volume, and velocity of capital determine everything: from GDP to income to standard of living.
At the core, those African countries that seem better than Nigeria only have better access to capital. I’m not sure how to explain this more clearly, but maybe this article will shed some light on it.

In my own book that’s lesser crime compared to stashing urgently needed capital of a poor country in tax havens. If it were to be in china we know the outcome—-IMHO the biggest problem of this country is capital and access to it. If we can solve that can scale we can wipe out a significant chunk of poverty in the populace.

At the end of the day, everyone should stick to their area of expertise. Your recommendation may sound innovative—and perhaps even brilliant—to you, but it is not exactly new.

In fact, it is similar to what previous administrations did to manage the rising cost of fuel subsidies. If you recall, Jonathan increased fuel prices, just as Buhari later did. Essentially, both administrations raised prices and shifted part of the subsidy burden to consumers. This approach continued under PBAT, and subsidy payments did not completely stop until around the end of 2024.

You should also look at Argentina. They experimented with a similar approach to what you are proposing. However, Nigeria's macroeconomic fundamentals today are in a much better position than they were when these reforms began.

So what’s the point of local production if it’s leaving a bigger hole in people’s pockets? The government’s priority must be the well‑being of the citizens, so we should allow the importation of PMS since Dangote’s prices are now higher than in non‑oil‑producing or non‑refining countries — I’m sure those places aren’t getting white products from Mars.

At this point, given that Dickson's interview, it might be safe to say PO will not be fully supported by the party.

Except the opposition comes together as a unified force, they should forget it.

From what I forsee, Atiku will get majority votes but fail to win 25% in the required number of states.

Obi will clear the SE as usual but come 3rd.

Bat will come second in terms of majority votes but get the required 25% in 2/3 states making him the eventual winner.

that’s a runoff! I’m certain the election will be decided at first ballot.
