Politics › Re: PENGASSAN Asks Tinubu To Rescind Executive Order On Oil Revenue by lionshare: 9:53am On Feb 20 |
MrSly: That is the issue here. The executive order is illegal, whether it is meant to be temporary or not. The president has no such power. The Constitution is supreme. There is no way we view it that will justify that act. It is a glaring overreach by Tinubu. This is very serious to the extent that it is enough for impeachment. Just that there is legislature is Nigeria currently. The PIA itself conflicts with the Constitution, which requires all revenues to be paid into the Federation Account. The EO simply restores compliance pending amendments. If challenged in court, the EO would prevail over the PIA. |
Politics › Re: PENGASSAN Asks Tinubu To Rescind Executive Order On Oil Revenue by lionshare: 8:52am On Feb 20 |
MrSly: I am not against the act. The process is the issue. Does executive order supersede the law? Why not send the bill for amendment to the appropriate arm for the right thing to be done?
So impunity of the executive is my major concern now because it breeds cleven higher corruption. How are you sure this money won't be used for campaign? No one will know if executive rasclity continues in this manner. This isn’t about impunity. The PIA contradicts the Constitution by allowing deductions before remittances to the Federation Account, so the EA appears to be a temporary stopgap pending proper amendments. If the amendment route had been taken first, NNPC cabals might have stalled it. In any case, since no law overrides the Constitution, one would expect the EO to be upheld against the PIA, and anyone dissatisfied can challenge it in court. |

MrSly: Lol. How do you want a Tinubu who rigged 2023 mindlessly to understand the the law as sacrosanct. He bypassed free and fair election. He bypassed credible separation of power by buying off the judiciary and rigging in puppets as Senate and Senate President.
He, Tinubu will very soon sign executive order to extend his tenure as a live President. There he would meet his waterloo. Cmon bro this is not always about politics—this EO will increase revenue to all units of the federation. |

Septuagenarian: Go and reread in details without any biased mindset, not everything you oppose the government. This below alone is a major policy change, how many new oil frontiers has the NNPC discovered or explored in the last 2 years. Also the PIA cannot supercede the constitution which says all revenues before any deductions must first be paid into the consolidated federation Account.
- Abolishing NNPC’s 30% retention for the Frontier Exploration Fund under Sections 9(4) and (5) of the PIA. All such funds must now be transferred directly to the Federation Account, preventing the accumulation of large idle balances for speculative exploration.
God bless nigeria 🇳🇬 and the president once again. More money in the coffers of governors plus LGA chairmen— we need a framework for accountability otherwise all these monies will end up in offshore accounts. |

He will provide the person who did it for him. And if he can't then it's another issue, to go live and tell millions of Nigerians that. Either ways he is not getting of the hook Some people here are joking with DSS seems you guys don’t know he can be held in perpetuity on the guise of national security. Those are not to be joked with; efcc, police etc are not in same category with DSS. |

LofP: No need to bet. Let's just come back when the year has gone far and you see the event unfold. The CBN governor’s speech suggests the central bank has been keeping rates high—likely to support FAAC and overall stability. If they withdraw, rates will drop sharply to their true level, but CBN seems to be managing naira’s appreciation. By December, with God’s grace, it should hit around ₦1,200—definitely under ₦1,400. |

30b not 300b. If Oyo State makes about ₦35B a month, then sure — ₦35B plus maybe ₦30B in intervention funds sounds believable. But ₦250B in one month? From the Federal Government of Nigeria? Ah yes, a financial resurrection. Now multiply that “miracle” across 36+1 states and you’re staring at roughly ₦9.25 trillion — about $6.17 billion. As GCFR, where exactly are you finding a spare $6B? from which budget or how ? or where? |

If you take your time to “educate” yourself, you will realise this tax is pro-poor! If Ameachi says he’s hungry, by inference he should be happy with this law! People that largely refuse to read and what Amaechi is parroting is a testament to that fact; they do not read because at core they are not interested in progress but propanganda that will give them access to power. |

Politics › Re: City Boys: What Did Obi Cubana And Cubana Chief Priest Do Wrong? by lionshare: 1:56pm On Feb 14 |
The answer is simple: anyone policing another person’s political opinion is being authoritarian. Why else would I try to control what another person thinks? For example, I’m a big fan of Brymo’s music, but not necessarily his personality, and it’s only logical to expect that he may hold views different from mine. Anyone who seeks to police others’ opinions is not acting as a democrat, but rather as a dictator at best. |

DiamondSword799: I am reading news that the US has requested permission to set up a drone "refuelling" base in Nigeria. And talks are at an advanced stage.
Well, for those of us who understands the nature of the white man, we are not surprised.
But I want to assure the military idiots who think they can sell Nigeria, that they would be crossing a Red line, if them grant any foreign base in Nigeria under any guise.
Both Bola Tinubu and Chris Musa would be personally held responsible for betraying the sovereignty of this country. A sovereignty that was fiercely protected by the likes of Gen. Victor Malu, Gen. Sani Abacha, etc.
This generation of stupid Generals who don't understand the sneaky white man would learn the hard way. Time would tell. As long as the drone base is situated in violence-prone zones and helps reduce insecurity within guaranteed timelines, it’s a welcome development. What use are those regions to Nigeria right now, with their ongoing violence, other than unnecessarily inflating capital costs for more productive areas? |
