Amotolongbo:
And what made those men you mentioned better than the present governors?
The same Ibori who was convicted in the UK for corruption or Peter Odilli who used almost all his state funds to pursue the PDP presidential ticket abi the same Bola Tinubu, Nigerian latest president who you all labelled corrupt? Suddenly these same men are now great men. Nostalgic syndrome is playing a fast one on you.

Tell us which of the former First Ladies had a political career and strength as Madam Remi Tinubu.
If the previous Nigerian First Ladies were as strong as Remi Tinubu politically, dem no born any of those governors well to not go and welcome them to their states
People tend to adore the past, and I’ve always wondered why. In many cases the present is actually better than the past, and there’s an even better future we can start creating right now. So why spend so much time fantasizing about a past that’s already gone?

Makes no difference. Isn't the VP the spare tire after allhuh 🤡.. Until Yar'Adua and some governors died, these politicians never gave the 2-IC role much thought and ever since then, they have made sure that the institution does not work. They are always in charge 24/7, they never take breaks, never go on vacation and never want to let go, even for 1 min. Demo crazy.
Oh yes, absolutely right. Even in the private sector some ogas heroically refuse to go on vacation. Why rest when you can just keep working forever? 😏 No breaks, no holidays — and if they’re sick, they’ll generously bless us with “working from home” instead. Because clearly stepping away for a moment might cause the entire universe to collapse. Power is just that sweet, I guess. 😌

Let’s assume you’re right. Can you list the 24 states where either opposition party secured 25% of the votes cast? After all, even the PDP and LP failed to produce such a list at the tribunal to support their claim.

Even if Peter Obi stayed with Atiku, there's no way PDP would have still won that election. APC would have increased their rigging method to beat it. That's it. That's past and should be allowed to remain in the past. The system is now the highest rigger. Elections is no longer the way it used and should be. The mutilation of election results in Rivers State alone by Wike is enough to explain what I mean. Wike mutilated election results in broad day light and today he's walking free and talking anyhow.
In this same country— elections in 2011 or 2007 were great or better than 2023?

Obi was an ibo agenda for power grab, there is actually nothing wrong with wanting to attain such status, but the bullish and ethic painting ibos portrayed during the last election was crazy. Even northern Nigeria had shared votes.
Right now in APC, the SS & NC agendas are just as important as NW & SW. If you want your agenda to survive you’ve to move fast, make sacrifices and deliver your region.

The issue around 2023 election should just be left alone. So many discrepancies you can't tell left from right.

If we'd allow for a thorough and fair investigation we'll all know the truth. But again election is driven by interest.
The truth is that APC won fair and square—it’s not contestable from a logic/numbers perspective which is why you see the watery & silly claims the opposition came up with at the tribunal.

If it were you, would you lower prices when it's time to bring it down? This is a simple case of pot calling kettle black. All Nigerians are the same, that's why we end up with bad leaders because we are all bad in one way or the other.
Average not all!
PoliticsRe: Dangote-Backed MRS Filling Stations Sell Fuel Higher Than NNPCL. by lionshare: 11:08am On Mar 04
nairalanda1:
Well, oil prices are rising and are going to be uncertain. He has no choice.

Everyone worldwide complains about 'high prices'. But if government brings in price controls, the result is less variety of product, scarcity, and even more poverty.
Price controls fail to deliver long-term value to the masses—they stifle competition and innovation, while frittering away government income into private pockets. Fortunately, higher oil prices boost our reserve accretion rates. The CBN should let the naira find its true value to curb inflation. A free market may feel tough at first, but over time, competition and innovation will drive lower unit prices, higher product quality, or both for the people.

The man has to pay his workers a decent salary, has to pay for maintenance and transport costs, has to pay for crude at OPEC prices, because that's part of our obligations as an OPEC member , and has to find enough money for shareholders when his refinery goes public and so on.

And you want him to sell fuel cheaply? So that his refinery becomes scrap...throwing millions of nigerians into unempolyment.?

If you were a businessman, would you sell your goods and services at the prices the poor dictate, or the prices you need to make your business survive?
Don’t mind Nigerians—the average business person jacks up prices at the slightest rumor, but goes on sabbatical when it’s time to lower them. Dangote is merely acting like the average Nigerian. 🙂

ok so go back to my earlier statement. If older men with supposed experience have made things worse instead of fix the problem, what makes a slower-to-respond older man who can't work for up to 16 hours a day, more qualified for the job than a 25 - 30-year old man?
For one, we have the assurance that we won’t lose millions of Nigerians—unless you’re proposing we conduct an experiment that could cost another three million lives?

PoliticsRe: Nigeria's 4.07% GDP Growth: The Mirage Of Recovery Dressed Up As Progress by lionshare: 2:39pm On Mar 02
This guy just wants to rant write—he completely ignores two massive incidents under APC that hammered our economy: the sharp drop in crude oil prices when Buhari took over (with zero reserves buffer to cushion it) and the once-in-a-century COVID-19 pandemic. If PDP had been any good, that initial 2015 oil price collapse wouldn’t have hit us so hard, given the high oil prices in the years leading up to it.

Also, while you praise PDP for hitting $540B GDP (which only happened after rebasing), you’re slamming APC for doing the exact same thing you just credited PDP for. GDP jumped from $270B in 2013 to $509B in 2014, all thanks to rebasing.
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Never Said That Crashing The Price Of Food Would Make Farmers Poor by lionshare: 10:58am On Mar 02
gidgiddy:
We all know that some unscrupulous people will try to twist whatever Peter Obi says to mean another thing, just because they want their preferred candidate to win. They see Obi as a threat, and rightly so, he is. But nobody should allow misrepresentation fly.

They are now saying that Peter Obi is against drop in food prices, that it would make local farmers poor. But this what Obi said

"Someone told me that food prices have gone down. Actually, we have killed all our farmers. Because we have imported cheap goods and thrown our farmers into poverty which will worsen the hungry situation of Nigeria in the coming future"

What I believe Obi was trying to tell Nigerians here is that the seeming drop in food prices was due to importation, which would adversely affect affect local production in the future
It’s fine to defend your favorite candidate, but in this case, you’re missing a key point: standing by his statement risks pushing away the voters he desperately needs. Think about it—compare Nigeria’s farmer population (who might back his words) to the far larger group of everyday people thriving on today’s lower food prices. I hope that lands now.

There’s no point going back and forth if you don’t know that stability is more important than price—or know our trade balances.

i dont need to go n verify any concorted stats ... Between Us & reality

our main export is crude, from 2023 - 2026 have we surpass 2m barrel per day
Note .. Our budget in the last 3yrs have being a deficit mess cos our we are always falling below crudesales bench mark

Something are commonsensical esp. When you are educated .. with the current state of the nation in what area are we producing more,
1. Is it crude
2. agriculture

i know wan talk to much, ... What brought about the balance trade or just " Magic"

if you read to comprehend my respond i gave an analogy, stability at 160/105 Bp is that something good for your health/life
Its an abberation that $1 is higher than our highest currency #1000 stable here is irrelevant cos the truth is your naira is uselezz

Under Tinubu we seen dollar fall to $1100 then it rose again, i remember the govt boasting then, a fall you have no corrective or measures you want to snatch credit it wont last

Election is almost here, dollar mop will soon start, will the Govt that will be complicit stop it or will the dollar be stable

Some of us were not born yesterday we have memory, naa why we dont get fooled easily by propaganda nd paper achievements

Choke us when ... Election is less than 10months away

when you ask All the sycophant nd stomach infrastructure praising Tinubu to the high heaven to mention key move Tinubu took recently that gave naira strength

The olodos can only muffle back .." reform "

For Naira to gain True strength .. Our production scale must have soar high, we import less and we export more to the world .. Which one has happened yeye people

The recent gain of the naira came as a result of fall in dollar on market scale .. check bitcoin, check forex traders dollar is under performing got nothing to do with Tinubu nunsesnse

under the same Tinubu did $1 not come to #1100 b4 it rose to 1500 ..iyabo ojo is just asslicking for her ambition
ou’re wrong — we’ve had a positive trade balance, so please verify that. She’s not referring to the naira’s price, but to its stability against the dollar. Stability matters more than the price itself, which is why the CBN intervened to prevent excessive appreciation.

The fair value may be around 1050–1200 per dollar, but intervention was necessary since volatility discourages economic activity by increasing uncertainty and risk.
