Ithas emerged that groups of
alleged herdsmen or gangs
operating in the middle belt
states of Benue, Nasarawa,
Taraba and even those that
recently killed scores of people in
Zamfara state, are Boko Haram
sect members.
This development came to light
following the confessions of
some arrested Fulani herdsmen
that took part in the killings and
burning of houses in Wukari,
Taraba state, they disclosed to
security forces that they took
part in many Boko Haram attacks.
A statement signed by the
Director of Defence Information,
Major General Chris Olukolade
confirmed the development
saying “A group of terrorists
operating under the guise of
herdsmen from a camp in the
outskirt of Wukari have been
arrested, while others died after
an attack on military check point
at Gindin Dorowa, a suburb of
Wukari in Taraba State”.
“Other members of the group
were sighted in the course of air
surveillance and later trailed to
their camp where they engaged
the troops in a battle”.
“The terrorists were clad in the
usual pattern of dress of their
counterparts operating in Borno
and Yobe States”.
“One of the apprehended armed
men confessed that he had been
fighting for the terrorist group in
Borno State and was recently
brought to Wukari area in
furtherance of their mission”.
“Assorted arms and ammunition
were recovered from them”.
“Meanwhile, the curfew imposed
on Wukari and its environs is
expected to be relaxed as
normalcy returns to the town”.
“Troops have maintained patrol
of the area while a house-to-
house search for arms is
ongoing”.
“In another development, troops
on patrol of the Lake Chad
Islands have made some arrests”.
“Among those arrested was a
boat operator who ferries
terrorists across the Lake Chad
while another confessed to
being a supplier of hard drugs to
the terrorist groups in the area”.
“In the meantime, the search for
the abducted students of
Government Girls’ Secondary
School, Chibok is also being
intensified”.

The Biafra struggle has received
a boost as the Niger Delta
Volunteer Force (NDVF) led by
Alhaji Asari Dokubo, joined forces
with the Movement for the
Actualisation of the Sovereign
State of Biafra (MASSOB) to
actualise the dream.
Alhaji Dokubo announced the
new alliance at the weekend
during the Biafra Day celebration,
organised by the leader of
MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike,
at the Ojukwu Memorial Library
and Conference in Owerri, which
was attended by thousands of
members of the two groups.
Dokubo and Uwazuruike assured
their members at the ceremony
that the actualisation of Biafra
was near.
Alhaji Dokubo, who addressed
the large crowd, said the South-
South and the South-East no
longer had Niger Delta or Igbo,
but Biafra.
He assured MASSOB members
that they would soon realise
their dream for an independent
state.
“We will soon complete the race.
There is no need for you to be
fatigued; the finishing line is not
very far again. No power can
stop our independence, our
freedom is near,” he said, as the
crowd went into wild jubilation.
He cautioned the new
government of General
Muhammadu Buhari on any
attempt to arrest any freedom
fighter in the country.
He advised the new President to
rather, concentrate on his
election promises, saying that
very soon, they would rise up to
hold him accountable to his
words.
Dokubo recalled that three Ijaw
kings went on exile because of
Biafra with two of them dying
there, stressing that the Niger
Delta people and the Igbo had
been brothers right from time.
Uwazuruike, who spoke earlier,
said this year’s Biafra Day was
significant as Dokubo came to
join force with him in the Biafra
struggle.
“Asari Dokubo has been here
since two days because of this
occasion,” he said, pointing out
that before he formed MASSOB in
1999, he had gone to the Niger
Delta region to solicit their
support.
The MASSOB leader said: “Biafra
is now assured as we have the
support of the Niger Delta
people.”

ASARI DOKUBO HAS SAID THE PLAIN TRUTH.

Alhaji. Asari Dokubo, the leader of the Ijaw Youth Council, has condemned the amnesty granted to the ex-Niger Delta militants by the late president, Umaru Yar’adua. According to him, this was a bribe to allow oil flow from the Niger Delta region to the North. He said that was the reason he rejected the offer. Dokubo, who gave the clarification during the 2015 MASSOB day celebration, held in Owerri, Imo State, also faulted the national conference organised by the Federal Government, insisting that the exercise did not represent the views of the Niger Delta region that is yearning for a referendum. “It only represented the views of the rest of the country. Let us beallowed to have a referendum. We have the right to hold a referendum on where we want to go,” he argued. He described MASSOB and his group as partners in progress who are moving in the same direction to arrive at a common destination as one people and nation. Dokubo, who faulted the last general elections in the country, decried the pace of growth and development of the nationover the years, noting that there should be massive infrastructural provision to stimulate the economy with conscious and unpolluted efforts to bring about industrial growth and job creation. Meanwhile, members of MASSOB had a confrontation with the police at the Assumpta Roundabout while riding in convoy to the state capital for the celebration. An eyewitness account had it that the police who had stationed their vehicles at the popular Control Post, Owerri, asked the MASSOB members to retreat but they refused and were teargassed by the police. It was said that MASSOB members, who were numbered over 500, had hauled stones at the police, who shot in the air to scare them away. Meanwhile, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Austin Evbakvbokun, while confirming the incident, said that the police halted the movement of the MASSOB members to the state capital because they do not have a permit for such gathering. He added that the group conducted itself in a disorderly manner, carrying insignias, which were not of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, thus necessitating the prompt action of his men to stop them.

our support in their fight against
Islamic extremists? While
supplying weapons to some
insurgents fighting for freedom
in Syria, why has the Obama
administration not supplied
support and weapons to those in
Kurdistan or Christian Nigeria
fighting for their survival? Why
has the administration refused to
give support to the
independence of these
beleaguered peoples?
As ISIS expands its grip on lands
in Iraq and turns its attention to
Kurdistan, Prime Minister Maliki
has finally sent in air support to
the Kurds to stem the tide of the
ISIS advance. Fearful that ISIS
might capture Iraq’s largest dam
currently under the control of
Kurdish fighters, Maliki sent
Iraq’s air force to bomb ISIS
targets in Sinjar. But neither
Maliki or the Obama
administration have been willing
to provide much needed
ammunition and weapons to the
Kurdish fighters.
With the Kurds in a legal fight
with Maliki over giving the
revenue from the sale of the
crude oil in their region to
Baghdad, the Obama
administration has refused to
support the Kurds in fear of
justifying any partition of Iraq.
But with Christians throughout
Iraq seeking refuge in Kurdistan,
is it not time to consider the calls
for freedom coming from these
war-torn regions? After all, in
2010, President Obama joined
the 145 countries who had
supported the United Nations
Declaration on the Rights of
Indigenous
People. It affirms that
“Indigenous peoples have the
collective right to live in freedom,
peace and security as distinct
peoples and shall not be
subjected to any act of genocide
or any other act of violence.”
It’s time for the peoples of
Kurdistan and Biafra to call on
the world to go beyond words to
actually support their cause. It’s
time for President Obama to stop
retreating from leadership in this
region and use the weight of his
office to act. In the final of three
interviews with Nnamdi Kanu,
the Director of Radio Biafra, hear
him explain what people craving
freedom want and need from
America. Radio Biafra is not alone
in calling for independence. In a
recent sermon, Nigerian Pastor
Emmanuel Bosun confirms the
critical need to fight for freedom
now before the Islamic Hausa
and their Boko Haram killers can
take full control of Biafraland.
The United States has always
made economic development,
military aid, and diplomacy a
central tenet of its national
security policy in supporting
strategic developing countries.
It’s time to take a stand.
Kurdistan and Biafra have long-
standing histories to justify their
existence as independent
nations. Is it their majority
Christian faith that is holding
Obama and the world back from
supporting their call for
independence? Are Christians the
only people around the world we
won’t support?
Dietrich Bonhoeffer said in
defending his stand against his
homeland in Germany, “Silence in
the face of evil is itself evil. God
will not hold us guiltless. Not to
speak is to speak. Not to act is to
act.”
Ben Carlson, in his column on
“The Spreading Scourge of Anti-
Christian Persecution,”
challenged all Americans to
support action, “We have an
obligation as Americans to
denounce these acts of
persecution. Even those who do
not worship a higher deity
should be concerned. For when
we stand up to such intolerance,
we are defending the root of
freedom.”
