Politics / BREAKING NEWS!!! DSS Storms Uwazurike’s Home by lionstone: 12:36pm On Sep 06, 2015 |
According to Peter Agba Kalu : I received a telephone call from Ralph Uwazurike the leader of MASSOB just right now and he told me that Nigerian Police stormed his house. He was not around, so they arrested all those working for him or around his house. I am not against the Nigerian Police doing their work but, storming someone’s house at the dead of the night is not way to go. I asked him if there was an invitation by the police which he failed to honour and he said, no. You may like Uwazurike and what he is doing with MASSOB you may hate him. But, let our personal stand not prevent us from seeing and speaking out when dictatorship is gradually bearing out its’ teeth. Nigerian problem today is Boko Haram and we are yet to hear of a commando style invasion and arrest of the leaders recently. It is on record that Uwazurike have never failed to honour any police invitation, so why this mid night forceful arrest. I just hope and pray that he is not being subjected to this treatment because he is from Southern part of Nigeria? If he in anyway offended the laws of the land the police should invite him through a civilized manner and drag him to court. Storming his house in this era of kidnapping is not a civilized way of doing things in a Democratic dispensation. What of if those on police uniform were hired killers or kidnappers? I advise the Nigerian Police to please extend an official invitation to him so that it will be on record that he’s under their custody. Politics / Group Urges Igbo To Pray To God To Deliver Them From Marginalization Spirit by lionstone: 6:22pm On Sep 02, 2015 |
By Vincent Ujumadu Awka- A CHRISTIAN group, the Apostolic Coalition of Prophetic Elders, ACPE, has called on Igbo people to pray fervently so that God would deliver the race from what it described as the spirit of marginalization and political dehumanization in the country. Rising from eight –day international prayer conference in Awka, the group said what was happening in the country was an abnormal situation, emphasizing that there is therefore the need for abnormal prayers for God to intervene immediately. The seven –point communiqué issued at the end of the conference and signed by Very Rev E.S. I. Chukwu, George Enekwechi, Uche Umerie and Rev Canon Chuma Ugochukwu read: “All government establishments must avoid eye-service, hypocrisy, nepotism, tribalism and all manner of evil disposition. “To this end, the conference urges President Muhammadu Buhari, the governors and all those who are in authority to ensure that all Nigerians are treated equally even while not sparing those that looted the nation’s treasury irrespective of their party, tribe or religion. “There is also the need for abnormal prayers in our present abnormal situations where insurgency of different descriptions, including kidnapping, political violence, armed robbery, rape, ritual murder and sacrifices, corruption in the public sector and samesex marriage, are prevailing. “We pray that God will lead all those in authority so that they will lead the nation with the fear of God for the people to rejoice. Politics / Massacre In Onitsha As Police Shoot Peaceful Biafran Demonstrators(photos). by lionstone: 12:22pm On Aug 31, 2015 |
We re just getting reports from Onitsha that a team of military and police detachment have attacked unarmed civilians during a peaceful demonstration in Onitsha for the restoration of Biafra . This happened today after memebers of IPOB had a successful meeting, and decided to have a peaceful rally/ evangelism as always before the Nigeria police struck. According to eye witnesses, 11 people were hit with bullets and 3 have so far confirm dead and the number of the casualty is expected to rise as many IPOB members jumped into canal and gutter to escape the massacre. Eye witnesses confirmed that many of the IPOB members received gun shot wounds and machete cuts on the head and body. Our sources say the police came from both sides blocking the road with armoured tank and started shooting from both directions. The hospitals has so far refused to attend to the wounded, demanding for police report first before treatment. SOURCE: http://www.igberetvnews.com/?p=3546

Politics / Biafra: MASSOB, Niger Delta Group Team Up To Actualise Struggle. by lionstone: 9:35pm On Jul 02, 2015 |
The Biafra struggle has received a boost as the Niger Delta Volunteer Force (NDVF) led by Alhaji Asari Dokubo, joined forces with the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to actualise the dream. Alhaji Dokubo announced the new alliance at the weekend during the Biafra Day celebration, organised by the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, at the Ojukwu Memorial Library and Conference in Owerri, which was attended by thousands of members of the two groups. Dokubo and Uwazuruike assured their members at the ceremony that the actualisation of Biafra was near. Alhaji Dokubo, who addressed the large crowd, said the South-South and the South-East no longer had Niger Delta or Igbo, but Biafra. He assured MASSOB members that they would soon realise their dream for an independent state. “We will soon complete the race. There is no need for you to be fatigued; the finishing line is not very far again. No power can stop our independence, our freedom is near,” he said, as the crowd went into wild jubilation. He cautioned the new government of General Muhammadu Buhari on any attempt to arrest any freedom fighter in the country. He advised the new President to rather, concentrate on his election promises, saying that very soon, they would rise up to hold him accountable to his words. Dokubo recalled that three Ijaw kings went on exile because of Biafra with two of them dying there, stressing that the Niger Delta people and the Igbo had been brothers right from time. Uwazuruike, who spoke earlier, said this year’s Biafra Day was significant as Dokubo came to join force with him in the Biafra struggle. “Asari Dokubo has been here since two days because of this occasion,” he said, pointing out that before he formed MASSOB in 1999, he had gone to the Niger Delta region to solicit their support. The MASSOB leader said: “Biafra is now assured as we have the support of the Niger Delta people.” http://www.sunnewsonline.com/new/biafra-massob-niger-delta-group-team-up-to-actualise-struggle/ 1 Like |
Politics / Boko Haram Prisoners: More Protest In Anambra by lionstone: 5:53pm On Jul 01, 2015 |
Traders and residents of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Tuesday, closed shops and businesses in protest against alleged transfer of Boko Haram detainees to the Prisons in the town on Sunday night. Traders in Onitsha had last weekend protested for the same reason, despite assurances by the prisons authorities that there was no such plan. The protesters displayed placards with inscriptions as “Ekwulobia town doesn’t need Boko Haram prisoners” “Please save our state from Boko Haram insurgents” “Why Ekwulobia of all the towns, Why Anambra State of all the states”. . The protesting traders and residents in Ekwulobia and old Aguata Local Government and Orumba North and South were joined in the protest by members of South East Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, SEMATAS. Addressing the protesters, President-General of SEMATAS, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, and Coordinator South East Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, Chief Gozie Akudolu, said South East zone needed no more trouble. Ezenwankwo said: ‘’We have confirmed that the story of bringing Boko Haram detainees after our protest and closing of markets in Onitsha last Saturday is true, the detainees were said to have been sent on last Sunday night, the prison officials in Ekwulobia confirmed the story for us and we are not happy. “They are 49 detainees, they were brought on Sunda, June 28 night under tight security, our worry is that we will be having their friends visiting them in the prisons and they will be coming with all types of dangerous plans, before you know it we will be talking of jail breaks and if iit happens we are in trouble. http://www.scannewsnigeria.com/featured-post/boko-haram-prisoners-more-protest-in-anambra/ |
Politics / We Regret Voting Buhari– South West Leaders by lionstone: 5:45pm On Jul 01, 2015 |
Some South-West leaders are currently biting their fingers in regret over voting President Muhammadu Buhari into office. buhariThe zone is particularly angry with the President, who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for tolerating the outcome of National Assembly leadership election, which did not favour the region. Buhari’s silence according to them is a serious indication that the zone, which queued behind him to ensure victory at the recent polls, may benefit little or nothing from the administration. “For the fact that the South- West played a key role in the emergence of Buhari as the President, it is expected that they would occupy a more strategic position than the post of vice president”, said one of the leaders. They argued that the National Assembly leadership election, which eventually placed the North Central geopolitical zone as a powerful force in the country’s power equation through the emergence of former Kwara governor, Bukola Saraki, as Senate President and Yakubu Dogara from the North-East, has depicted the South- West as not only a weak power bloc in the equation. With the power structure now, the South-West as a region has been relegated to the background in the power structure of the country. Some of the leaders of the region who also participated in the last National Conference argue that since the South- West does not hold any substantial position in the current power structure, the region must re- strategise to assert itself in the politics of the nation. They further argued that the position of Vice President, which is presently held by a south westerner, does not place the region as a powerful force. While referring to one of the speeches made by former President Goodluck Jonathan during the campaigns leading up to the 2015 general elections, National Coordinator of Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, CODER, Chief Ayo Opadokun, a South-West leader, who spoke to the Nigerian Pilot Sunday on the current power imbalance, noted that the Yoruba race made a great mistake by not re-electing the former President, considering what he had in stock for the zone. He emphasised that the implementation of the National Conference report would elevate the standard of the zone, which is the reason people of the South-West should have queued behind Jonathan. http://www.scannewsnigeria.com/news/we-regret-voting-buhari-south-west-leaders/ |
Education / Post-utme To Be Scrapped Soon - JAMB Boss by lionstone: 2:15pm On May 06, 2015 |
According to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) , Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, the post-UTME exams conducted by higher institutions will soon come to an end with the introduction of CBT Mode in UTME. He mentioned that following the introduction of CBT, examination malpractice as well, will be completely eradicated with time. Post-UTME test was introduced because of the level of malpractice that trailed the UTME examinations in the past. However, the JAMB boss is of the opinion that when examination malpractice in UTME is completely eradicated with the introduction of CBT there will definitely be no need for post-UTME in higher institutions. He further stressed that the CBT Mode was also introduced to prepare candidates to face the academic challenges in higher institutions. http//:www.myschool.com.ng/school/news/36336/post-utme-to-be-scrapped-soon-jamb-boss.html |
