Lagos is a cosmopolitan city developed not by the Yorubas but by all and sundry like the Europeans, Asians, Africans, Nigerians and others. It's not Ibadan or Abeokuta that has 60 percent input of it's development made possible by the Yorubas. It's the arrogance of some of you Yorubas that gives rise to the no mans land connotation. Lagos is in the SW but was not built by the Yorubas. London also is a cosmopolitan City with many Yorubas living there. They have not been disenfranchised for once during elections, but the reverse is the case in Lagos where people who live there are not only disenfranchised through the use Political oafs, thugs urchins, but prevented from making input in the running of affairs that concerns them. The actions of some Yorubas like you breeds the response you get from not only the Igbos but from other ethnic nationality who reside there. Yorubas like you are not only timid, backward and anachronistic but unexposed. Many Yorubas I know are civilized and not clothed in the oversized tribal garment you want everyone to acknowledge. In reality, what they are afraid of is the solid pedigree of this original Lagosian, his ability to deliver and vintage ethnic hybrid position to play the politics of inclusiveness that accommodate everyone, no matter ethnic, religious or economic status.
Who is this Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and why are they so keen to disparage him with unfounded fallacies? Gbadebo (‘The one who brings the crown’) is a Lagos original with true blood flowing in his veins. He is a proud descendant of the prestigious Rhodes-Vivour family, whose pedigree as foremost legal luminaries and judges, with distinguished contributions to the state's development, date back to the 1800s - about 400 years in history.
Indeed, Gbadebo is the great grandson of eminent Justice Steven Bankole Rhodes, a founding father of the executive and judiciary, who served on the Executive Council with eminent Nigerians like Adeyemo Alakija. They and similarly minded nationalists built Lagos, a credit some people have been trying to steal. Also, Gbadebo's uncle is the Supreme Court Judge, Justice Bode Rhodes Vivour.
In terms of direct parentage, GRV’s own father is Barrister Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, a distinguished lawyer and detribalized son, who embodies the Lagos spirit of accommodation by marrying a wonderful Igbo woman, Nkechi, who is Gbadebo’s mother today. Interestingly, GRV’s diverse names as Gbadebo (‘The one who brings the crown’), Chinedu (‘God is leading’) and Patrick (‘of noble origin’) all point to a man destined for greatness and leadership.
So, with such a rich and highly accommodating pedigree, politicians are afraid that GRV's candidacy makes it easy for both members of the Igbo and Yoruba tribes to support, trust and see him as one of their own. Before and after the last presidential election, Gbadebo’s rising profile as an authentic unifying face of Lagos made powers that be to descend to sponsoring social media influencers to promote a fake campaign of an Igbo takeover agenda. They even lied about GRV saying Lagos is no man’s land.
The truth is that the opponents do not want a true and accommodating indigene to be governor. Greed for power and resources makes the enemies of Lagos go any length to retain power. However, a GRV, aside from a rich pedigree, will bring a breath of fresh air and restore the original glory of the state with inclusive and progressive development policies.
He has pledged to use 10% of Lagos IGR to empower 1 million poor Lagosians with interest-free loans. GRV has plans to rehabilitate the ‘Agberos’, area boys and thugs, and reintegrate them back into society as responsible citizens. He will fix the bad roads in all parts: from Ikotun, Ijegun, Satellite town, Lagos-Badagry Expressway and Ikorodu to Sagamu Expressway, irrespective of the predominant tribe living there in order to boost international trade.
GRV will provide affordable housing and stop the racket that goes on with government built homes. Claim: Charles Soludo wrote that "…poverty in Anambra actually grew (from less than 25% in 2005) to about 53% under Peter Obi in 2010/2011 but fell under Willie Obiano to 14.78% in 2020. Yes, poverty more than doubled under Peter Obi and more than 50% of Ndi Anambra were in poverty under him. Go and verify"
This isn't all as he had wrote something similar in 2015 in an article titled "Buhari vs Jonathan: Beyond the Election" where he wrote that "According to the National Bureau of Statistics, poverty rose under his watch in Anambra from 20% in 2004 (lowest in Nigeria then) to 68% in 2010 (a 238% deterioration!)."
These two quotes seem similar but can also be be different as the numbers dont match but if we look closely, in the 2022 letter, he mentioned 2010/2011 which was mostly measured in 2011 and in the 2015 letter, he was specific about the year 2010.
Verification: According to a press briefing By then Statistician General of the federation and lead of the National Bureau of Statistics, Yemi Kale in a press briefing titled "Press Briefing By The Statistician-General Of The Federation/Chief Executive Officer, National Bureau Of Statictics Dr. Yemi Kale" delivered in February 2012.

It is seen that the poverty level of Anambra state as at 2010 was at 68% (see image below) which matches the value quoted by Professor Charles Soludo in his 2015 article.
Verdict: The statement by the Anambra state governor, Professor Soludo claiming that the poverty level in Anambra while Peter Obi was governor rose to 68% in 2010 and 53% in 2010/2011 can be said to be true and not an exaggeration.
Also notable is that when Peter Obi responded to Professor Soludo in 2015, he did not refute the poverty percentage.
If this report proves anything, it shows soludo is not as wise as everyone paints him to be... The 2006-2010 tenure of governor peter obi was tainted with impeachment, court injunctions, insecurity etc... As a result there was no consistency in economic policies and stability was impossible..It is only reasonable that this happens.
However it takes a genius to crash poverty rate that fast in next ten years and making it lower than it was in 2005... That genius is Gov peter obi, how do I know?? by achieving the MDG goals, creating an investable environment and also frugal management of government resources he brought a positive outlook to the anambra state government economic figures and as we know when the economy outlook improves, poverty reduces.

Using this interpretation, Tinubu is saying we "Inherited" God's gift from the Bible. Speaking in Tongues is a gift, not an inheritance. It's a gift granted by the HOLY SPIRIT to speak languages the speaker DID NOT PREVIOUSLY KNOW. It's not Inherited, but gifted by the Holy Spirit.
This interpretation is even more blasphemous. Tower of Babel is a symbol of disunity. The confusion and disunity God afflicted them was punishment for their act of rebellion and arrogance. In other words, the story of Babel explains how /why we had different languages leading to confusion and tribalism and eventually disunity. So saying we inherited it from the Bible would mean we inherited our current disunity from the Bible.
So those linking what Tinubu said to the Tower of Babel should have a rethink.
WHY INTERPRETATION TWO IS WRONG...
Speaking In Tongues means "Gift of Tongues". In English, there's a term called 'collocation'. Collocation, according to Wikipedia "refers to a natural (predictable) combination of words that are closely affiliated with each other." Speaking in Tongues has no affiliation with the Tower of Babel disunity. This is why if you trace the origin of 'speaking in Tongues', you won't see the story of Babel.
So my advice is that Tinubu should learn how to speak coherently before he inadvertently blaspheme against Islam. We know what would happen next.
