NCNC never defeated AG in Western elections, it never happened.

Neither parties got enough to be the majority in the Western Parliament, which Lagos cities and towns were part of, and had to seek alliances with smaller Parties in the region. Awo was more successful in this regard, formed a majority with the alliances and thus the government as a result.

Also AG was formed well before the elections, it effectively morphed from Ègbé ọmọ Odùduwà.

You are right on one thing though, if those two had come together, and Àwo had offered Zik the prime ministerial post in a deal similar to President's Tinubu and Buhari APC one, Nigeria would have been a much better place.

Zik hooked up with the North and we now have quota system front and centre in governmental policies.

You are neither far nor near the truth.......awo offered zik the seat in an alliance after the 1959 elections when the NPC won the most seats but couldn't form a govt because they didn't have the majority thereby needing to align with another party......the ncnc was the beautiful bride that both the AG and NPC sought for an alliance.

In the 1951 regional house of reps elections, the ncnc had the majority seats in the SW against the AG.

Unknown thugs have reportedly attacked the secretariat of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.



The attack, which was reported on Wednesday, comes barely one week after NDC supporters were attacked in Enugu, resulting in the death of one person.



At the time of filing this report, no casualties had been reported in the Edo attack, but footage of the incident showed that properties at the secretariat were damaged.



It was gathered that the incident marks the latest in a series of violent disruptions targeting opposition political infrastructure across the state.



There are growing concerns over political intolerance and targeted intimidation ahead of the 2027 general elections.



Civil society groups and political analysts have expressed alarm over the recurring attacks on party secretariats, warning that unchecked political violence threatens the credibility of the democratic process.



In the video showing the damaged secretariat, a woman accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of being behind the incident.



“The last one happened in Enugu, where one person died. Now they have brought it to Edo. APC, your end is here,” she said in the video.

The most of the goodwill he had in 23 he was meant to build on has been frittered away and its really sad.

Zik actually won elections in lagos and even defeated awo at some point,that led to the formation of AG by awo but many yorubas supported zik's NCNC against awo.

When awo fought back with nationalism,zik had to return to the east and his disdain for awo became further entrenched.

This singular mistake by both leaders not to agree to work together is one of the root causes of the problems we are still having today.......if both of them had been sensible enough to see the clear and present danger at the time.......Nigeria would have been a better place today and the north with their conservative ideology wouldn't have dominated us all.
