There have been several reactions from social media users after it was announced that Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo has visited the home of the former governor of Rivers state and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

This announcement was contained in a post that Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to Nyesom Wike shared on his official X handle on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

In the post that surfaced online, the Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, Hon Martin Amaewhule was also spotted with the FCT Minister.
According to Lere Olayinka on his official X account;

"Nigerian film actress, Hilda Dokubo visited the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike in his Port Harcourt residence".

If the DPO is from the town what makes you think he will not influence recruitment so that his family members get preferential treatment in employment...before long you will have a situation where a particular family controls the police apparatus in a locality or town.

If the DPO is from the town it means once an individual attains that post he will see it as a position-for-life where he will be until he retires or dies. In the current police system there is a maximum number of years a person can be DPO in a zone before he is posted to another location, there is reason for this.

If the DPO is from the town there is a possibility that some of them will start seeing the post as a monarchy which they can pass down to their children as if it's a family business.

The disadvantages of state police outweigh the advantages by far and it will become obvious when it starts in Nigeria.

The people advocating for state police will be the same people that will scream and shout for it to be repealed when the problems start...I hope it will not be too late then!!!
