Indeed, Barbarians and Yahoos.

The lowest forms thunder in shrieking heads over the input fields of Nairaland wielding mobile phones now not clubs.

Politics / Re: How to Stop the Kidnapping Epidemic in Nigeria By Farooq A. Kperogi by Litmus: 5:20pm On Jan 20
Kidnaping is possibly lesser in Lagos or non-existent due to the proximity of individuals to eachother, it's face to face nature, effectively acting like a biological CCTV system. Even if you managed to secure victims unseen, you'll need to move them. You can't move far in a congested, eye-full place like lagos - hostages in tow - without being spotted, your final destination known.
Politics / Re: How to Stop the Kidnapping Epidemic in Nigeria By Farooq A. Kperogi by Litmus: 5:00pm On Jan 20
I still maintain that CCTV network implementation is best. The writer mentions "low fruits"; well, you'll be hard-pressed finding a more effective lower hanging fruit than CCTV systems with associated ecosystem. CCTV and Monitoring centers are bog standard basic although expensive. kidnaping organisations will simply abandon high level banking if pushed. A system that tracks movement live, kidnapers will find difficult to evade.

Actual Facts : Nigeria is relatively rich in comparison to majority of West Africa nations' relatively dirt poor status.

Opposition Politics Facts: Every Country in the World is Rich, Nigeria is dirt poor.

Effects:

Due to the overwhelming power of Opposition Politics propaganda, majority of Nigerians are diverted from possibilities such as Nigeria's relative wealth in West Africa, attracting the poor and wretched people of West Africa nations to Nigeria through the open and unprotected borders.

When some of the more desperate as well as some of the more undesirable eliminates among these people inevitably rob, kill, rape and kidnap Nigerians, Nigerians lay the blame for this on eachother informed by the type of propaganda forwarded by Opposition Politics that I sighted above.

Due to the practices adopted by Nigeria's Opposition Politics culture, Nigerians are never fully and accurately informed. This causes Nigerians to react wrongly, demand wrongly and deal with pertinent issues wrongly.
Travel / Re: Relocating To An African Country: Is It Worth It? by Litmus: 9:15pm On Jan 19

You are truly wise but sometimes people need to go and experience things for themselves. I encourage the OP to relocate to another African country, that's the only time his orientation about Nigeria will change, good luck OP

You saved me writing. Let him and others travel to other African countries and learn for themselves. Eventually, he/she will find out why Nigerians abroad tend to be the ones that praise and love Nigeria more than those like him in Nigeria.

Oops, I guess I ended up writing afterall smiley

A city like Abuja isn't too large for absolute movement watch following investment on monitoring equipments and a control HQ, let alone focused watching only in certain areas like Bowari.

Instead of wasted energy and finances on manpower, patrols, emergency searches etc, Monitoring HQ personnel could simply sit back monitoring and identifying were undeterred kidnapers are headed so that police or military can later plan for and raid the place.

Nigeria is a great lesson to the world. If, as Nigeria and Nigerians seem to do, world Governments consider that people inhabiting national border areas naturally share some form of cultural and blood affiliation, wars will end. For when extrapolated to it's natural conclusion, we (the entire world) are all brothers.

If you're in doubt, try the exercise of drawing imaginary borders anyway in the world, that manages to ensure that peoples - even for many miles, both sides of your demarcating lines - don't share ties.

I reckon this is where that Iranian general got murdered few hours back. The one I put up that got bumped off by some armed men. Pakistan had a go at the location as well.

It's all kicking off between these two nations. Each one playing the terrorist game to have a pop at their turf. Hang on while I fill you in on the latest. Enjoy the show!

They need to take lessons from Nigeria. After the Iran attack, Pakistanis in the border region should have warned central governments that Iranians are thire brothers, that borders are arbitrary, they all have historic ties. An Attack on Iran is attack on the relevant related peoples of Pakistan.

If the world took lessons from Nigeria there'd be no wars since firstly, borders would be meaningless, state boundaries sneered at. Secondly, the peoples that live in areas where national borders are delineated, the world all over, share some form of related ties. Central governments should - like Nigeria does- priorities the sentiments of such people over the overall national interest. In this way wars will be averted. The world would need fear only bandits and terrorists.

Nigeria peoples' character: He ran out to help the neighbours quench the fire he, Nigerian, thought was about to ravage their home.

None Nigerian African character: they rushed out of their house, wich they knew was going to explode, intent only on saving themselves.

Health / Re: "How Soldier Boyi ThankGod Killed Himself In Ogun" – Nigeria Army by Litmus: 7:14pm On Jan 17
Guys that claim they are Nigerians on Nairaland can be quite funny. Why is it that many of you that consistently criticise Nigeria army competence and professionalism now claim a Nigeria army soldier isn't capable of mishandling his rifle to this tragic end?

I personally believe Nigeria army is one of the world's most professional and competent outfits yet any officer is capable of mishandling his weapon (rifle I mean, not the other one) given the right circumstances or fate - for lack of better words.

A smart business man will not do that. Burning diesel all day in the name of investing in Africa.

Elon runs an energy business ideal for Africa. A Tesla Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya or Morocco needn't rely on local electricity infrastructure.

It's Funny how Elon always strategically positions Indian guys in many of these tech vids when in actuality Oriental folks do all the development work. smiley

Elon's agenda isn't half as smart as he is.

Africa should never accept EV's built in Tesla India. Elon should invest in Africa. I'm Nigerian so preferably invest in building Tesla Nigeria. However, he is South African so why not build Tesla South Africa, let South Africa export to rest of Africa.

Photo: One of eight new Nigerian Navy Falcon Eye C3I, underground Command and Control Centers.

Nigeria has largely curbed chronic piracy in the Gulf of Guinea thanks to systems like Falcon Eye. Police in certain arrears of Nigeria require land based systems such as this. With Chinese help instal surveillance throughout Abuja and provide large monitoring centres for security personal such as pictured.

It ain't rocketry. High-tech is perfect fit for third world not the contrary.

The least security measures govt should invest in Abuja is whatever it cost to place Abuja under super invasive surveillance systems coverage . People in the West can afford the luxury of quibbling over AI Public faces recognition tech, Nigerians don't have that luxury or Rights at this juncture.
Crime / Re: Abuja Kidnappers Kill Three Of 10 Victims, Jerk Ransom To N700m(picture) by Litmus: 9:41pm On Jan 15
Govt needs to clean up Abuja. By this, I mean demolish all satellite slums surroundings the better established areas and, perhaps , contract the Chinese that are experienced at constructing mass housing estates. Contract them to build properly organised low rent housing satellite towns. people shouldn't be allowed to take up residencey in these houses without organised registration, including DNA.

You can't penny pinch your way to Nation building. Nothing has been done about the borders because of cost. Yet without secure borders you don't have a Nation. Israel borders constructions worked. Israel knew all along what Hamas was doing. We need to invest heavily. Costs expended short term will be recuperated long term. Penny pinching is death by a thousand cuts.

Civil and ordinary Nigerians as well as the West - in thire self appointed role as custodian of Human rights - won't stomach Nigeria doing what the situation requires Nigeria to do in the context of Abuja for instance.

What Nigeria needs to do in her role as a nation without the superstructure capable of wielding the scalpel, is apply the hammer and anvil method of scortch-earth.

For instance, Nigeria needs to demolish the slums surrounding the established and legal areas of Abuja. The govt can't be sentimental to the short term plight of workers that live in this areas as a means of approximation to central work districts.
