NYSC / NYSC: My Unpaid Allowances by littlemistress: 3:49pm On Feb 06, 2016
I'm a batch B15 (stream 1) corp member, posted to Taraba state on October 28th 2015. I opened an account with UBA on camp and the account details was sent to me day after leaving camp. (November 17th). I redeployed to Delta state and reported at the secretariat on November 18th, 2015.
Till now, I haven't received my December & January allowances. Majority of my friends whom we redeployed to various states together have been paid duly, which leaves me to wonder what i did that they didn't do. I've called & called., sent messages too; from the accountant to state coordinator (Taraba). Yes, I got across to them.
The officials here said there's nothing they can do to help. I've exhausted all avenues, even tweets to @nysc_ng aren't responded to. This plea goes to the authorities in charge to help facilitate my allowances. Moderators., I'll appreciate front page for wider audience & contributions. Thank you.

I dey tell u, I thought surulere where we came from was the badest. Sometimes in 2011, jst at ikotun, I saw one woman slapping one guy nonstop and the guy stood there like domi without even trying to resist, after a while she let go of him, we then asked what the problem was, she said the guy was trying to pick her bag. Omo! I tripped!

its worse now...esp at night. haven't been a victim tho. the policemen are really trying to put ikotun in order but their efforts are not being rewarded. trust me, i know what I'm saying.

funny. A corps member who taught me economics in ss3 back in 1996 is still in Taraba. Not willing to return home. Was a daughter of an ex police IG.

To answer you, Taraba is what you make of it...

that's the person. we're all wired differently. meanwhile, i already redeployed to delta state. EOD

I live in Ijegun & I know Ikotun like my palms. It's home to miscreants, touts, pickpockets & hit/run drivers. As populated as alimosho is, it's unfortunate its not developed. The police can do little or nothing!! Too bad

@little mistress, how abt we look for other people going to taraba so we can all hire a bus going to taraba fromn any park in lagos, cos we wont see straight bus and the state has no local airport
I'll be going to jibowu tomorrow to make enquires at cross-country transport. Learnt they've got a dedicated bus service for corpers. I'll keep you updated. Be good.

You're welcome. Cost of living is not really high. Just okay. Transportation is cheap within the town. Almost anywhere is #50 by keke... It's interesting. Security is guaranteed. There's no cause for alarm. Accommodation is cheap and affordable. Any amount you have can get you something. From 25k and above. Religiously, the state is a Christian dominated state. There are Muslims but there's no problems at all.

Waoh! This is so relieving.
God bless you. I'll be leaving from Lagos.

Hehe.. Congratulations. Welcomed to North East Nigeria. It's a wonderful place to be. Nysc is also what brought me there for the first time. I'm from rivers state and have never been to the north. Hence the first unusual thing I prepared for was the very long journey (about 14hrs) from PH to Jalingo. The place is good with a unique climate (extreme heat and extreme cold, sand storm), unique people, unique language and food, unique behaviors, etc. If you love trying or new stuffs, I think you'll definitely enjoy the place, trust me. If you need to keep in touch, just let me know. I'll be shuttling your camp very frequently.
Thanks. We'd appreciate more info on: cost of living transportation security accommodation religious tolerance etc

Family / The Five Languages Of Love And Affection by littlemistress: 4:39pm On Oct 15, 2015
Every individual has his/her peculiar love language. There are five (5) major love languages and most people have at least 3.
If these needs/love languages are met and reciprocated, relationships cum marriage are success guaranteed.

TOGETHERNESS: Togetherness in committed relationships fosters unity. It is a way to maintain closeness away the demands of work & other life pressures.
Daily non-stress communication (even just 10 minutes) to keep in touch with each other’s lives and other daily bonding rituals also promotes your sense of togetherness.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION: This is the act of reassuring each other of faithfulness & commitment. Words of encouragement & endearment are expressed. Partners are advised to avoid abusive and/or revengeful words.

ACTS OF SERVICE: Saying 'thank you' for acts of kindness done goes a long way in relationships. This also involves making your partner feel special & appreciated. Let's cultivate the habit of saying 'God bless you', 'Welldone'. etc.

EXCHANGE OF GIFTS: Dear ladies, you don't have to wait till his birthday before showering your man with gifts. A simple gift as small as a box of chocolates delivered to him in his office will put a smile on his face & make you topmost in his heart.
Dear men, we love gifts too. Shower your partner with gifts occasionally & watch your relationship soar. Please, appreciate the gift even if you don't like it.

PHYSICAL TOUCH: Who doesn't love being cuddled? When you make time to be together, play with her hair, complement it, massage his legs, play with his nose, tickle each other, laugh, lie him on your thighs & pet him. Hold hands on the streets while walking, Kiss, cuddle & enjoy your time together.

There you have it people. Discover your partner's affection pattern & adopt it.
