In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful. To him belong all praises and adorations. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his household, his companions and every single one of his Ummah till the Day of Judgement. Ameen. It is indeed obvious that the Holy month of Ramadan is about to end; may Allah see us through and not deny us the blessings therein. It is a fact of common shared knowledge that the most anticipated event after Ramadan is the "Eid-ul-fitr". 'Eid' in its literal meaning refers to ‘celebration. On that day, the Muslims celebrate, exchange gifts and foods; and spread happiness. There are a few reasons people celebrate Eid-ul-fitr, It could be because it is a blessing from Allah as a reward for observing fast for a whole month as it is one of the revered and obligatory pillars of the religion, or it could be because it is an occasion where Muslims express love for one another and spread joy all over the globe. However, what is apparent with Eid is the sacred calmness in the atmosphere that people wake up to and the general enthusiasm that sways between looking forward to wearing your best clothes, feasting and the congregational voluntary prayer that brings Muslims together in the mid-morning hours. Asides observing what is Sunnah to the Muslims, it strengthens the religious and spiritual bonds of brotherhood. Besides the few reasons, there are particular manners in which a Muslim should celebrate the Eid as derived from the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which include the following; Giving Zakat-ul-Fitr; one should not limit the happiness to oneself for eid is all about sharing and celebrating with others. If happiness to a Muslim (as given by Allah)is wearing good clothes, eating healthy food and being able to visit places on the occasions of joy, then Islam recommends that people who have (not necessarily people of high social status ) should give out some certain quantity of foodstuff on the day of Eid-ul-fitr in form of Zakat of fitr. It is the charity or almsgiving which a Muslim has to be given out a day or two before the Eid-ul-fitr prayer as it demonstrated by the Prophet for it wipes blemishes off the observed fasts. However, the recommended time is to offer it between fajr and Eid prayer. The giving of alms to the poor before the Eid prayer gives them the chance to celebrate the Eid in a like manner with the average and fortunate people of the Ummah, in that no member of society is left behind in the celebrations irrespective of their social and financial status. This is aimed at making the love and happiness circulate the atmosphere. Eat Before You Set Out For the Eid Prayer : Eating before setting out for prayer on Eid day is a tradition of prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Having fasted for a month, the prophet recommends that we take breakfast on the day of Eid for it is not a day to fast but a day to eat, drink and share happiness. Ritual Bath and Nice Dress : Many celebrations if not every requires preparation and dressing. This is also applicable to Eid. Performing spiritual bath is compulsory on Eid day for Muslims who have attained the stage of puberty. However, wearing one's best dress on the day of Eid-ul-fitr is also a Sunnah of the prophet (PBUH) and it represents the measures Muslims should take as regards the Eid festival. It is advised that the male applies some perfume over their dress while the women are allowed to use their favorite jewelry under their dress. However, with the outburst of trends, many persons get overwhelmed and go out of their way during Eid to dress indecently in the name of celebration which is against the rulings of Islam. Consequently, we end up having our homes and streets filled with young people, mostly women, wearing ridiculous dresses that expose the bodies and attract the wrath of Allah (S. W. T). The guardians of women and children must fear Allah with regards to those who are under their care, they must ensure that they dress decently. The Eid Prayer : The Eid festival is special, thus, has special prayer. The offering of Eid prayer is compulsory, hence every Muslim (except female in a state of impurity) must make effort of offering the prayer with congregation. After dressing up properly, a Muslim must make sure they go to a Eid ground to offer the Eid prayer with a congregation. No Nawafil is observed once you get to that ground, neither is it observed once you're through. Why?! Because Eid prayer itself is a Nawafil. Those Who cannot pray are encouraged to go to the Eid ground to listen to the Khutbah (sermon). Use of Alternative Routes : The celebration of Eid-ul-fitr encompasses all the traditions observed by the prophet (SAW) with love and joy is all. As Muslims, we must take a leaf out of the life of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) for he is the best example. As per his Sunnah, he would take one route towards the mosque for prayer and would come back through another route. This changing of routes ensures that a Muslim meets and greets people living on the sides of both routes. Chanting of Takbeer : Allahu Akbar(2/3*) Laa Ilaha Illa Allah, Allahu Akbar(2/3*), Wa Lillah Il hamd. It is mustahab to recite the takbeer during the night of Eid from sunset on the last day of Ramadan. As we set out for the Eid ground, we should ensure we chant this as we move and even when we get there until the Imam comes to lead the prayer. Apart from the above manners in which we are expected to celebrate Eid, we must be cautious of how we celebrate Eid on that day. We must not go to the extreme nor should we be too excessive in our celebrations. We must avoid celebrating with whatever is forbidden in Islam as well as refrain from Haram acts. Celebrating Eid in a forbidden manners is tantamount to demolishing our edifice of good deeds which we strove and toiled to build in the Holy Month. We must fear Allah in our conducts on this day for the Prophet S.A.W is reported to have said that "Whoever offends Allah on the day of Eid is like one who offends Allah on the day of judgement." In conclusion, it is evident that Eid-ul-fitr is a Holy festival like other occasions and festivals in Islam. So, it needs to be observed with peace, love and respect. However, the best way to doing this is by following strictly the Sunnah of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with respect to the celebration of Eid and doing the same way he used to do on this day in words as well as in actions. Miremoses1:No I am not. |
RAMADAN: A Receptacle of All the Pillars of Islam All thanks and adorations are due to Allah, the Most Merciful the Most Beneficent. We seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the devil within ourselves and from the consequences of our evil deeds. Whomever Allah guides will never be led astray and whomever Allah leads astray will never find guidance. I pray Allah guide you and I and never lead us astray, Aamin. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, He is alone without any partner, and I bear witness the Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and His messenger. It is no longer news that Ramadan is here: a month of mercy from Allah to humankind and mercy from humankind to humankind and other creatures of Allah. A month in which someone we believed could never see the mercy of Allah sees it and a month in which you receive gifts from someone never thought could give you anything. A month in which Brother Kamoru remembers he is a Muslim and Sister Shukura remembers she is a Muslimah. A month an average human being remembers he has a Creator and has some obligations placed on him. A month of COMPASSION, LOVE, MERCY, PEACE AND UNITY. In this month, was the Qur’an revealed and so mother Divine Books revealed to previous Prophets (AS) as confirmed by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in a hadith related by Imam Ahmad. In this month placed the Night of Majesty.IN this month, Shaytan and his associates are chained, then gates of Hellfire are closed and those Jannat are opened. It is evident enough and safe to conclude that Allah praises Ramadan among others. The reason for this is best known to The Creator Himself (SWT). I feel it is imperative to note that, there is a difference between Ramadan and Fasting (Sawm). The former is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar while the latter is one of the pillars on which Islam is built. Though, Fasting is what often comes to mind any time Ramadan is mentioned. This is so because Allah Himself says “Whoever witnesses Ramadan should fast it”. Thus, Ramadan is a month in which Fasting (Sawm) is observed. However, the purpose of this distinction is not to derail from the fundamental belief of Islam. Rather, it is to make us view Ramadan from a different but fundamentally related angle to know that Ramadan encompasses more than Fasting. It is an intensive program/class for Muslims and a receptacle of all the pillars of Islam. It is a fact of common knowledge that Islam is built on Five Pillars: Faith, Prayer, Fasting, Charity and Pilgrimage to Mecca- for those who are capable(financially and health wisely). Every Muslim is expected to consciously uphold all these pillars. However, before Ramadan, we usually have dwindling eeman(faith), we hardly observe regularly on time or even abandon it totally and take Friday Prayer more or less the only obligatory one, we seldom fast, our attitude towards Charity is lackadaisical and we view going for Hajj differently. However, the story changes immediately Ramadan comes in. Thus, majority of Muslims become conscious of these pillars. Faith (eeman) is the basic principle and foundation on which other pillars are built. Every Muslim must believe that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad (SAW) is but His Servant and Messenger. Without this, you and I do not have any reason to uphold/observe the other pillars, for upholding them without the belief in Allah and His Messenger will only amount to an exercise in futility. However, Fasting in Ramadan shows one still has at least an iota of belief in Allah and His Messenger. During this period, people’s faith is usually on the increase. They uphold that which Allah has permitted and abstain from that which He has forbidden. Consequently, they remember that there exist these verses: “follow Allah and follow the Messenger.” And “whatever the Messenger has given you- take it; and whatever he has forbidden for you- refrain from…” Moreover, Allah (SWT) being our creator made us realize that He has created us for a purpose- to worship him. Consequently, He commanded us to worship Him with Solat, being another pillar without which there is no Islam. The only time you find mosques filled up for Subhi, Zhur, A’sri, Magrib and especially I’shai is during the month of Ramadan. This is so because of the cliché, “Allah does not need the the fast of a fasting person who does not pray.” Or “a fasting person who does not pray is only causing himself hunger.” In Ramadan, people tend to be more conscious of Solat. Those who had abandoned it before Ramadan start observing it, those who used to observe it but not regularly before Ramadan start observing it regularly, and those who use to observed it regularly before Ramadan observe it increasingly (with Tahjjud). In addition, Allah (SWT) prescribed fasting for us just as He prescribed for those before us, so that we may become righteous. He says whoever witnesses the Ramadan should fast. However, He gave exceptions, but in spite of this, Allah still reiterated the fact that, “To fast is better for you, if only you knew.” this is to show how important Fasting in the month of Ramadan is. During this period, we are to stay away from eating and drinking for a particular period of the day. It should be noted however that Fasting is not limited to abstaining from eating and drinking, it extends to abstinence from sexual relations (lawful/unlawful) and generally sinful speech like slander, backbiting, etc. and sinful acts. Furthermore, another pillar of Islam which people pay rapt attention to during Ramadan is Charity (zakat/sodaqah). Allah commanded us to give charity in other to purify our wealth and earn rewards in manifolds in this life and hereafter. Naturally, when we are fasting, we usually look gentle and meek, and in turn, we treat people around us with gentleness. In the work environment, many workers attest to the fact that the period in which they enjoy their Muslim boss is during Ramadan. No matter how rigid or closefisted we might be before Ramadan, Fasting brings out the mercy, compassion, and generosity in us, thereby showing kindness to everyone around us. Moreover, Ramadan teaches us how to better practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, patience, perseverance, and empathy for those who are less privileged; thus, encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity. Charity as a pillar of Islam is best practiced/observed in this period. Lastly, Pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj) is a mandatory religious duty ordained by Allah for us, which must be carried out at least once in our lifetime by those of us who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support our family in our absence. Apart from being an obligatory religious duty on us, Hajj has a spiritual merit that provides us with an opportunity of self-renewal, for whoever performs it accordingly with a sincere intent is viewed as one who never committed any sin before in his life. Normally, Hajj is done on the eighth to twelfth day of the last month of the Islamic calendar, Dhul HIjjah. During Ramadan however, Umrah can be done in place of Hajj. This is in assonance with the statements of the Prophet (SAW) as related in various narrations: “Perform Umrah in Ramadan, as it is equal to Hajj.” Another narration states that “When Ramadan comes, do Umrah as (the reward for) it then equivalent to Hajj.” The benefits of Ramadan bestowed this one upon us. Ramadan offers us the opportunity to practise and consciously uphold all the pillars of Islam. As I stated earlier, Ramadan is not limited to fasting. During this period, we are to strictly adhere to that which Allah has commanded us to do; praying on time, giving alms to the poor, loving and doing good to people around us, saying the truth, enjoining righteousness and forbidden evil, among others. Equally, we must absolutely abstain from all that Allah has forbidden for us; associating partners with Allah, drawing up bad assumptions, slander, backbiting, adultery/fornication, among others. Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet ( SAW) to have said; “Gabriel came to me and said, “Whoever reaches the month of Ramadan and he is not forgiven; then, he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say Aamin.” I said Aamin.” May you and I be forgiven by Allah in this Ramadan, Aamin. In conclusion, we must all know that Ramadan is a practical example of how we ought to live our life before and after it. The good deeds you and I earned in Ramadan may not be sufficient to outweigh our bad deeds, which we earned in other months. On this note, I urge you to enter this glorious month with the intention to maintain the status quo after it. RAMADAN KAREEM! Abdulrawzaq Yusuf B2K, Dept. Of Islamic and Common Law, Faculty of Law, Lagos State University, Ojo. |

The regular faces are back to the field of play... Lopetegui may have issues starting Modric and Isco together if he decides to use the latter in the midfield. Also there's gonna be a break in the BBA if he decides to use him up front.. But nonetheless I believe he has a good team... The only thing he needs for sure is an average of 50goals/season from a single person like our talisma used to have... but he said it himself that he appreciates more of teamwork than an individual thing... We still have a long way to go and I believe in this great team which has hungry young stars who want to sell themselves to the world on the bench. Apparently, their Zeal is gonna have great impact on the team whenever they are brought in... This is exactly what Zizou used the likes of Asensio for... I look forward to a great season as usual. #Hala_Madrid |
*QURAN RECITATION DAILY (QRD)* *“Read the Quran, for it shall come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim)* As muslums, we are meant to read/study The Words of our Creator (Qur'an) on daily basis-This a large number of muslims consider realistic only in the Month of Ramadan. LizB2K:... If Access n Sterling Banks can't do this, then I suggest you Sue them... |
Access bank should release the CCTV footage so as to trace the culprit... Sterling bank should give details of where the 200k was withdrawn... Then the two banks(Access n Sterling) meet the bank where the money was withdrawn so as to get the CCTV footage also... After getting it, then it should be compared with that of Access bank. If they show the same person, then investigation can begin on the culprit... The first point is, since the culprit too was at Access bank to use the ATM on the day of the incident, they(Access) should be able to get his bank details via his ATM card. Link his bank up for more details of him... Then getting the culprit begins in earnest! (Security Agencies should not be left out in these processes) |

CELEBRATING EID-UL-FITR In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful. To him belong all praises and adorations. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his household, his companions and every single one of us till the Day of Judgement. Ameen. It is indeed obvious that the Holy month of Ramadan is about to end. May Allah see us through and not deny us the blessings therein. It is no news that the most anticipated event after Ramadan is Eid-ul-fitr. Eid in its literal meaning refers to ‘celebration. Consequently, on that day, Muslims celebrate and spread happiness. There are myriads of reasons why people celebrate Eid-ul-fitr. It could be because it is a blessing from Allah, because it is a reward for keeping fast for a whole month, because it is Sunnah of the prophet (PBUH) or it could be because it is an occasion when Muslims express love for one another and spread joy all over the globe. However, besides numerous reasons, there is a particular way in which a Muslim must celebrate the Eid as derived from the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which include the following; *Give Zakat Of Fitr; one should not limit the happiness to him or herself alone for eid is all about sharing ecstasy with others. If happiness to a Muslim (as given by Allah)is wearing good clothes, eating healthy food and being able to visit places on the occasions of joy, then Islam recommends that people who have (not necessarily people of high social status ) should give out on the day of Eid-ul-fitr in form of Zakat of fitr. It is the charity or alms giving which a Muslim has to give out before prayer of Eid-ul-fitr as it is in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad. Though, it can be given out towards the end of Ramadan, however, the recommended time is to offer it between fajr and Eid prayer. The giving of alms to the poor before the Eid prayer gives them the chance to celebrate the Eid in a like manner with the wealthy and fortunate people of the Ummah, in that no member of society is left behind in the celebrations irrespective of their social status. This is aimed at making sure the love and happiness go round. *Eat Before You Set Out For Eid Prayer; Eating before setting out for prayer on Eid day is a tradition of prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Having fasted for a whole month, the prophet recommends that we take breakfast on Eid day for it is not a day to fast but eat and drink and share happiness. *Wear Nice Dresses; Every celebration requires preparations in general and dressing in particular. This also applies to Eid. Wearing a new dress on the day of Eid-ul-fitr is the Sunnah of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and it represents the measures Muslims must take as regards Eid. The dress should be worn after proper bath has been taken and once the dress is worn, it is recommended that one applies some perfume over the dress for it is one of the Sunnah of the prophet (PBUH). Thus, on the morning of Eid day, a Muslim must wear if not new but best of his clothes. *Go for prayer; The festival of Eid is special, thus, it also has special prayer. The offering of Eid prayer is compulsory, hence every Muslim (except female in a state of impurity) must make effort of offering the prayer with congregation. So, after wearing a dress, a Muslim must make sure he goes to Eid ground to offer the Eid prayer with congregation. *Take Different Routes To Eid Ground; The celebration of Eid-ul-fitr is all about spreading the message of love and joy with greetings. As Muslims, we must take a leaf out of the life of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) for he is the best example. As per his Sunnah, he would take one route towards the mosque for prayer and would come back through another route. This changing of routes ensures that a Muslim meets and greets people living on the side of both routes. On this note, it is no doubt that Eid-ul-fitr is a Holy festival like other occasions and festivals in Islam. So, it needs to be observed with peace, love and respect. However, the best way to doing this is by following strictly the Sunnah of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with respect to the celebration of Eid and doing the same way he used to do on this day in words as well as in actions. #EIDMUBARAK!!! #B2KWrites |
