Lleigh, U have got a serious talent in bringing out d dark and evil part of man. U captured it beautifully in ur works. And all of these U have made us understand, r fueled by dat age old emotion, GREED!

An uncle murdering his nephew out of greed no doubt.

My mother told us dat if U worship even a plastic cup on a daily basis and U spill blood to dat plastic cup it will give it power because by spilling blood U have invited a demon to inhabit dat cup. Chapter 1 of dis work is exactly like dat. Without spilling blood there is no spiritual power.
Hi ladyverere
Your Mother is right. Greed isn't good.

Thank you for staying with my stories and you taking the time to comment

Linda walked around her cell, she did not have the heart to call it a room.

Who could call a place where you were forced to stay involuntarily a room?

A room where the toilet and shower co existed in the same place?

She heard activity outside her wall, she stood up and dragged herself as far as the chain would reach to the wall.
She watched as a group of people cleaned up the Orangery in preparation no doubt for the party Charles had said he was having. As much as she tried to move closer to her wall she could not reach the wall.

The aromas of cooked food come through the vents of the room and made her stomach growl.
She realised that she hadn’t eaten a real meal since she had been incarcerated and taken hostage by Charles. He had made he eat some kind of dry food that he had placed in a bowl in her room alongside another bowl filled with water.

He hadn’t forced her to eat the contents of the bowl, the implied message was obvious to her that there was nothing else for her to eat.
It was either that or she starved.

Would he let her die if she refused to eat the crap he left for her?

She cried every time she had to eat the dry food; it was tasteless, he wasn’t even treating her like a prisoner. Prisoners had more rights and freedom than she did and even had better food.
Prisoners in Kirikiri prison did not eat dry food.

Consequently, due to the lack of real food she had lost a lot of weight; she did not have a mirror but she knew she had.

He had also got her doing exercises, he said he needed her fit and strong for the tasks she had ahead of her. She had no idea what he had been talking about, she had always hated exercise.

She had conveniently forgotten to do them a couple of times; the electric shock coming through the ankle brace had convinced her otherwise and she had resumed the exercises again.

The few times he had come into her room she had begged him to let her go, she had even tried to use sex as a tool, offering herself to him.

‘I am not interested in having sex with you Linda, I never have been and I will never be interested in you’ he said looking at her with scorn.

That’s when she realised that all the stuff he had done had been a ruse. He had targeted her for a reason.
What was it?

She looked back at the people setting up the room through the glass and she cast her mind back to the first time she had gone to Dubai with her friend Mabel.

She had been at her flat in Isolo; wondering who to con out of money that weekend when her phone rang, she looked at the caller id it was Mabel, she pressed the green button.

Linda said, ‘Hey Mabel how you dey?’, there was a bit of static and Mabel’s voice came over the phone.

‘I am good o, ore. I wanted to see if you would like to go to Dubai with me in two weeks’ time?’ Mabel asked.

Linda paused.

‘I don’t have that kind of money, Mabel, plus what will be needed for visa, transport etc. I have also heard that it can be very expensive over there’ Linda replied.

She wished she could go, that would be serious bragging rights, but she did not have that kind of money lying around at the moment.

‘Linda, don’t worry I will pay for your ticket, hotel and visa, you can pay me back with the money you make out there’ Mabel said.

Linda asked, ‘Money? Please explain how can I make money out there?’

If Mabel said Linda could make money in Dubai, Linda believed her.

Mabel had more the 3,000 followers on Instagram and she was always travelling to Dubai. Linda had once asked Mabel how come she travelled so much and she had told her that she was an Instagram model.

Linda had spent time on Instagram after that updating her profile, hoping that someone would spot her too and make her a model.

Mabel asked, ‘Can you come? I would like to introduce you to someone’. Breaking into her train of thought.

Now that was the language Linda understood, why had Mabel beat around the bush first.

‘Sure, I can Mabel. But what exactly are we going to do?’ Linda asked, as she walked towards her wardrobe to see if she had suitable clothes to wear out there.

‘As I said Linda, I want to introduce you to someone, he asked me to bring a friend and I thought of you. We will leave on a Thursday morning and come back to Lagos on Monday. So it will be a long weekend in Dubai’ Mabel said.

Mabel continued, ‘I can collect your passport and get your visa processed in a day, so leave all that to me. Speak to you later’

Linda had initially been appalled by the by the set up Mabel exposed her to when they go to Dubai; but eventually she got over her revulsion.

Mabel had been right about the trip though, Linda had been able to repay all the expenses Mabel had incurred on her behalf. After she had deducted all the money she had to return to Mabel, she had in excess $3000 left, that she had used to go shopping in the Dubai malls.

It had been a very lucrative trip money wise, once she got back to Lagos, she had started working on improving her Instagram profile she needed to become an Instagram model too.

She had even been able to go back to Dubai without Mabel, well what was the point of sharing money with her when she could have it all to herself.

She had told Tunde that she was going there on business, looking at things she could buy to sell in Nigeria and he believed her, if only he knew what she had really been up to.

She had already given up on trying to find out how Charles had found out about her trips to Dubai.

She came out of her reverie and shuffled towards her bowls, she picked up the bowl with the dry food. It was a mixture of different kind’s seeds and grains. Whatever the dry food was, once she drank the water it kept her full for most of the day.

She shuffled back to her bed and laid down, her back was hurting from her ordeal in the room; she never wanted to go back in there, as the tears fell silently down cheeks.

She must have dozed off, it was the strong aroma of food and voices that must have pulled her out of her slumber, her wall was up.

Sitting on a table opposite her were four men, three Arabs and the dark skinned Charles.

The Arabs were the men she had meet on her clandestine trips to Dubai, the men she had met behind Mabel’s back.

Sh!t!!

Sh!t!!

Did the men know each other, how had Charles managed to get the three of them together in one room?

The three men staring at her from across the room were the most perverted men she had ever fortunately or unfortunately come across.
But she had never been together with the three of them at the same time in the same room.

It was at that moment that she knew she was fúcked…

‘Our hostess is awake,’ Charles said as he heaped a large serving spoon of jollof rice onto his plate.

The other men were busy eating what looked like pounded yam and egusi, they must have enjoyed it as they kept on topping up the egusi on their plate.

Linda stared at the food on their plates like a child in a sweet shop, her mouth watered her tummy rumbled.

Edward stood staring out of the window of his apartment, watching as the people below walked the streets of Canary Wharf and went about their business.

Were they having a good day?

Or were they bogged down with money worries, wondering about how they were going to make the next payment for their next tranche of bills.

It was a beautiful spring day, from his vantage point on the 50th floor, the sky was picture perfect blue, the sun had managed to banish away the grey clouds that might have wanted to make an uninvited appearance.
The bright sunshine disguised the fact that the weather forecasters had said the temperature would hover between 0 and -3 degree Celsius, the wind chill factor making it feel like minus 6.

He was happy that he was not out there with the masses feeling and enduring the bitter English cold. He hated the cold weather with a passion, which was why he had insisted on under floor heating everywhere in his penthouse apartment.
It had cost a fortune, but hey, it had been worth it. After-all, it was only money.

When you owned a penthouse apartment all you could do was stare down at the unfortunates and wonder how their day was going and how they were coping in such cold temperatures.
The fortunate ones, like him stayed in their warm places of abode.

He felt like a god surveying his subjects as they scurried around trying to fulfil his commands.
He did have a lot of demands, unfortunately some could not be fulfilled or delivered by his earthly minions, he sighed.

How was he going to find a girl around the same age range of the previous one he had used?

Girls between the ages of four to seven were not easy to come by, he thought to himself.

He broke off those thought processes and looked around his flat, reminding himself how he got to be living in the penthouse of one of the most sought after addresses in Canary Wharf and London in the first place.
He rubbed shoulders with the bankers, IT geeks and hedge fund managers when he went to the gym in the basement of his apartment building. To them he was a property magnate, which he technically was.

He owned a lot of places in London and he also owned one of the most talked about clubs in the capital and England.

Yes, he had done very well for himself, with the minimum of effort on his part.

His parents had distanced themselves from him, shame that he had not been able to use them instead, yes he was bad, but needs must.

They had voiced their concerns that he had acquired his fortune in a nefarious manner.

Edward looked around his apartment with pride, he had bought the place off plan for cash, and the cash had rolled in like water flowing from a well.
Everything he had touched had turned into a money spinning venture, he was so lucky that he could sell ice to the Eskimos and make a killing from it if he wanted to.

He was now used to getting what he wanted and everything falling into place when he needed it to.

She had lived up to all her promises.

It had been very fortuitous, meeting Baba while being questioned by the police for the death of a low level drug dealer. His lawyer had told Edward that he would be held on remand indefinitely, but Baba had told him, that if he trusted him, he would get him off and he would be out in a day.

Baba had done whatever he had done and Edward had walked out of prison, two days later the charges had been dropped. He had even put in a claim for false imprisonment and had been awarded a tidy sum of money by the Police.

The price for Baba’s help had been very steep, which begged the question why had he chosen him?

What had Baba seen in Edward for Baba to come and pitch his tent with him?

Who had he really been to see in Pentoville?

He had been so overcome with relief that he had never asked Baba that question.

To be honest, he had asked Baba why he hadn’t used his skills for his own advancement, Baba had told him that he was just a custodian and could not use the powers on himself.
His family had been custodians for centuries and when he had relocated to England, he had been forced to take her with him.

Edward always wondered why Baba, called her ‘She’.

He took his mind back to what Baba had told him they needed, they day he had gone to see him.

When he had dropped off the chickens, She had given Baba a message to pass on, the message being, that he Edward, had not been paying enough attention to her and she needed him to deliver on his promise, she needed another one.

Another child needed to be sacrificed, was the message she had passed on to Baba.

Getting the first one had been easy to be honest, he had told his one of his girlfriend's, that taking her son and enrolling him in school prior to her arrival in England would be the best thing to do.

She had acquiesced willingly to his request, she had been so overwhelmed by the generosity of his actions that she had never questioned him.

Unfortunately, his girlfriend had suffered a series of setbacks processing her visa and had fortunately died in an accident, when her bus had gone over a bridge killing all passengers on board.

He had bought the child over to England and he had enrolled him in a school, it just happened that the child had never turned up there.

She had lived up to her side of the bargain, all the things he had wanted and more had come to fruition in the last few years.

He had eliminated the biggest threat to his business Gary Foster; who was now currently languishing in jail having being told that he would have to serve a minimum of 30 years in jail before he would be considered for parole. He had also eliminated a lot of other threats without getting his hands too dirty.

Once he had started his partnership with Baba he had deliberately targeted single women with young children. The women were more trusting and gullible than their childless counterparts.

Which reminded him, Mali was still missing, he had not seen her since the last time they had spent the night together.

She hadn’t turned up at the club to work her shift, which was very unlike her. He knew that she was skimming the takings and he was also aware of the things she had swiped from his flat. He just wasn’t ready to confront her on it yet, he had wanted to use that as a bargaining chip when the time arose.

Her absence was what had prompted him to go and look for her at her bedsit. He had been expecting to find an ill Mali, instead he had found a spaced out, harried teenager at her place.

He had complained that Mali had left him in charge of her baby, with no money or food for the baby. He had handed over the bawling toddler Chloe to Edward and had walked out of the door.
