Look Here First https://www.nairaland.com/2087594/international-postgraduate-scholarships The African Humanities Program Through fellowship competitions, regional workshops, and peer networking, the African Humanities Fellowships Program provides support to the humanities in five African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. The program is supported by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The centerpiece of the program is the distribution of fellowships to African scholars in these countries for work on dissertations, research projects, and scholarly manuscripts. The African Humanities Fellowship Program awards approximately 40 such fellowships every year. In coordination with African scholars, ACLS hosts a series of annual meetings in the five African countries participating in the program. These meetings provide opportunities for senior African scholars from a variety of disciplines to collaborate with ACLS representatives in the local design of programs, while giving younger scholars a means to learn about the application process and gain feedback on their project proposals. Through the activities of the African Humanities Fellowship Program, ACLS promotes local and transnational cooperation among humanities scholars at all stages of their careers, working towards the development of a self-sustaining network of African humanities scholars. The African Humanities Fellowship Program is inspired by a commitment to the humanities as a core component of higher education in Africa, essential to progress and development. The African Humanities Program - Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens of an African country residing in, and having an institutional affiliation in, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, or Uganda. Master in Research and Innovation in Higher Education Scholarships https://www.nairaland.com/2697246/master-research-innovation-higher-education |
Look Here First https://www.nairaland.com/2087594/international-postgraduate-scholarships Master in Research and Innovation in Higher Education Scholarships Due to the important role research and innovation play for growth and sustainable development, fundamental transition processes are taking place in the systems of research, innovation and tertiary education in Europe as in other regions of the world. These processes can be described as from regulation to deregulation and competition, from steering to market, from administration to management. Institutions involved as HE and research institutions are largely affected by these changes, gaining high autonomy for themselves. Therefore, we need experts who are able to understand and analyse these new contexts (system knowledge combined with regional contexts), who could link system change with institutional change and who are able to develop management skills to deal with the changing environment inside HE and research institutions. Partner Universities. Danube University Krems / Austria University of Tampere / Finland University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück / Germany Beijing Normal University / China Main Topics and Learning Outcomes In the master course “Research and Innovation in Higher Education” (MARIHE), students will develop a sound understanding of the change processes and how these link to education systems and labour markets in general. Thus, the curriculum reflects on three perspectives to the change logics involved: first, on “systems in transition” - focussing on general developments and regional contexts (i.e. Europe, Africa, Asia, globalization, regionalization), second, the perspective on interactions between “system – institution” (i.e. funding of research and innovation), and third, from the institutional perspective (i.e. “change management”). Importance is also given to transferable skills (i.e. research methods, languages, leadership). Graduates will be able to understand the specialties of scientific institutions and to adapt marketization and deregulation instruments to the needs and the culture of the institutions. They are competent in policy analysis and evaluation and will take the lead with their expertise in future developments in the management and development of research and innovation in higher education. Mobilities In terms of mobility, students will gain manifold perspectives and rich intercultural experience: During 4 semester (120 ECTS) they will study in at least 2 European countries (Danube University Krems/Austria, the University of Tampere/Finland, the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück/Germany) and Beijing Normal University/China. After the 2nd semester students will get insight into fields of practice during an internship, provided by enterprises and organizations related to the topic of the course. To mention some of them: OECD (IMHE programme, France), Austrian Research Promotion Agency (Austria), ESMU - European Centre for Strategic Management of Universities (Belgium), HIS - Higher Education Information Systems (Germany), Cerion Solutions LTD (Finland), CHE consult (Germany), Finpro (Finland). Entrance Requirements, Course Language, and Degree Applicants for MARIHE must hold a first university degree in a relevant field, have a good command of English and show a strong motivation and interest to learn and work in the field of research and innovation development and management in higher education. Language of tuition is English. A joint degree will be awarded. Higher Education Scholarships Full Innovation in Higher Education Scholarships can be awarded to masters students who come from a country other than a European country and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries. Scholarship candidates must have already obtained a first higher education or demonstrate a recognised equivalent level of learning according to national legislation and practices. Individuals who have already benefited from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are not eligible for a second scholarship in order to follow the same or another Erasmus Mundus Course. Students benefiting from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship cannot benefit from another EU grant while pursuing their Erasmus Mundus masters studies. Erasmus Mundus scholarships are awarded exclusively for a full-time enrolment in one of the course editions. Look Here First https://www.nairaland.com/2087594/international-postgraduate-scholarships Orskov Foundation Grants Orskov makes grants of up to £2,500 to support agriculture in developing countries. The grants support graduate students and communities in developing countries. Student Grants One category of grants supports university students in agricultural studies related to poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability. The student grants are only provided to help support costs of training at a university or similar organisation other than the university/college in which you are registered at the time of the application. Eligible students (graduate students from any countries which are, in the opinion of the trustees, regarded as developing countries) MUST be registered for graduate degrees at their home universities in a developing country and MUST be able to demonstrate that they have full support from the relevant university department/organisation that they are seeking training from. Preference will be given to support training aimed at sustainable land use problems with an emphasis on animal, plant and soil interactions, where it can be demonstrated that, in addition to contributing to knowledge, they will (a) have the potential to alleviate poverty and (b) provide sustainable environmental benefits, including adaptation/mitigation to the impact of climate change. Training outwith these areas will not be funded. The Trustees will only consider projects with a budget up to a maxium of £2,500. This is the upper limit, not an indication that you should simply request this amount. Applicants will be expected to provide a budget and FULL justification for the funding claimed. Applicants that do not provide an adequate breakdown of the anticipated expenditure will not be shortlisted for evaluation. Please do not send any additional documentation, such as exam results, CVs, letters of support, etc. These will not be used in the evaluation of your application. Appropriate references will be sought for student applications that pass the evaluation stage. Projects will be selected by an open application process. Grants will be awarded in March/April. Community Grants The second category of grants is for community-based agriculture on a revolving-fund basis. Many projects have a livestock component, as small livestock such as goats, pigs and poultry can have a very positive impact on poverty alleviation, effectively acting as a “living” bank. Owning seven or eight goats may be the equivalent in cost to one cow. Losing the latter would mean the loss of a very large investment. The loss of one goat, on the other hand, is easier for a household to cope with. Each of the projects established so far works with a revolving fund. The principle behind a revolving fund is that the benefits derived from our initial investment to the recipient communities are shared with other communities. In most cases these are women’s groups, already established in the village and each project, its goals and management, is set up with the active participation of these community groups. These community projects have been very successful, have given the participants a greater sense of security and made a positive impact in poverty alleviation. The secret of success is to let the village groups decide how they will each manage the revolving fund system. Applications are welcome from 1 October to 31 December every year.
