Travel / Re: Got An International Job by Localordinary: 10:30pm On Jul 27
Red flag, how can you go for a 14 days quarantine in Ghana? When you are flying from Nigeria? Ghana government doesnt quarantine anyone from international flights, unless your test comes out positive to Covid19. Dubai is a no go area for now

kenodrill:
I did an interview with an online recruiting agent a couple of months ago which came out successful. The mother company is an oil servicing company based in Abu Dhabi, but however there are too many clause and inconsequential process attached to this recruitement. i will be listing the few i considered most vital and critical.

1)that I will run a covid 19 test in Nigeria before flying to Ghana

2)I will also fund my covid 19 test when I get to Ghana

3)I will be on a 14days quarantine in Ghana.note: food and accommodation will be provided by the company

4)after the 14 days quarantine in Ghana I will be flying to Dubai then from Dubai to Abu Dhabi

5)on getting to Abu Dhabi I will also pay for my covid 19 test.

6)once I start the job.I will be responsible for my feeding but accommodation will be provided by the company.

Note: I was informed that every amount I spent will be refunded and included in my salary.

My concerns are:

a) if the job is actually genuine while going through ghana- dubai then to Abu Dhabi?

b) why would they ask me to take care of my feeling while I'm there?

Please I need your kind advice and contributions.

Samson, how is Baruwa?

Andrew87:
I got married to my wife. I love her both with the kids but the biological father of the kids is a bit wealthy and left the whole responsibilities to my wife since last year.

This is not funny because I am part of her although we hustle hard but it's not easy. He insists the kids must be with him if he must take care of them but a member of his family informed my wife that he plans to take them away and she will not see them.

Please friends what's ur take on this? Times are really hard.

You have been scammed. If you do not understand Spanish, u cannot get a work visa from Spain.

Spinojaja26:
Please friends is it possible to confirm Spain's visa using pin only without passport? I paid 1.5m to my agents for Spain working visa, they said my visa is out but I can have my passport after paying extra 400k, but I was given pin number for me to use to confirm the visa. How possibly is this?

Dem don confuse this one. You were once a catholic, he is catholic, what makes you think that you are a born again and that there no born again in the catholic church? E be like say na mountain of fire dem convert you to. You better wakeup,Cos you are snoring.

mugnmuffin:
Dear Nairalanders,
I have an issue that has been on my mind for weeks now. My fiancé and I have been dating for over three years. I love him and he loves me too. We are physically attracted to each other. We’re both catholic but since I graduated, during my service year I gave my life to Christ, got saved and left the Catholic Church. So I’ve been a Pentecostal Christian since then. He on the other hand is still catholic. I subtly try to nudge him to consider getting saved, i.e acknowledging Christ as lord and savior and becoming born again but he is content with his laidback Christian life.

Earlier this year, he asked to meet my parents and I let him. My parents like him especially because my younger sis is married and they have been waiting for me too. They’re glad I’ve someone. However, after the introduction,I regret it. I’m now certain that he’s not the one. I think about my spiritual life and how lukewarm he is about the things of God, I think about kids and how we’ll raise the, with such differing views about God and I’m discouraged. I feel like I’m settling because he checks all the boxes on the checklist of physical attributes. Another mistake I made is, I didn’t pray about this decision and that worries me because anything that involves him,I just act with pausing to ask God, but I always ask God about other aspects of my life. So it’s like my associating with him is a minus for my spiritual life and that’s a huge cause for concern.

At this point, I want to tell my parents I am not convinced it’s him but I’m afraid of the disappointment this will cause. *sigh* I’ll appreciate your thoughts, comments, criticisms...

You make me laugh.... it is only when you need POF to go to advanced countries you will be able to interpret what you have just typed. Look,if you earned 50,000 naira in 2019,as of today 14.05.2021 it means that your current salary is 25,000. If you invested 1million naira in 2019,today that 1million naira is now 500k. It is better you do not mislead people here on nairaland.

igbosoupkitchen:

While.we are comparing the numbers of the curency can we also please compare the purchasing power??
We are quick to compare naira to dollar, cedis to naira, cefa, euros, gbp etc and we only do so in terms on figures.

Let me ask you,
I dollar is = 480naira (what is the purchasing power of both?
1 dollar can buy you a cup of coffee in the USA but 480 naira can buy you tea( coffee, lipton, milo and milk) +sandwich
1 dollar can buy you 1 or 2 bottles of water in usa but 480 naira can buy 6 or 8 bottles of water in Nigeria.
500 cefa can only buy you 1 bottle water which is 250 cefa and 1 bottle of malt drink 250 cefa,
500 naira in Nigeria can buy you water, malt, gala, biscuit, bread and akara/eggroll
100cedis in ghana cannot buy you what 9000 can buy in Nigeria, FACT

If not for our lack of productivity as a country we will not be an import dependent country aĺways seeking validation of foreign currency.

This is very correct.

area74:
Thank you very much for this detailed analysis. The clear difference between an average Nigerian and a Ghanaian is patriotism. Nigerians are always very good to lament the negative side of our country everywhere.

It is understandable for a Nigerian who is leaving the country for the first time and coming to a country like Ghana with stable electricity to see it as an Eldorado.

When you stay longer in the country and start thinking and seeing beyond electricity, then you will appreciate Nigeria better in some ways.

Trust me, Ghanaians will frustrate your life if you own a business as a foreigner especially as a Nigerian.

They abhor competition and will systematically ostracise your business through the people and government agencies.

Representing my employer in the country for the last 3 years has really opened my eyes to the mindset of average Ghanaians.

In fact, I don't bother to relate with them anymore other than business meetings.

I wish the OP all the best.

No business man saves his money in naira. Word of wisdom.

Flytime:
Decades of high inflation devalued the new cedi, so that in 2007 the largest of the "new cedi" banknotes, the 20,000 note, had a value of about US$2. The new cedi was gradually phased out in 2007 in favor of the "Ghana cedi" at an exchange rate of 1:10,000. By removing four digits, the Ghana cedi became the highest-denominated currency unit issued in Africa. It has since fallen to about 20% of its original purchasing power when the currency was redenominated.

You can say that again, Nigerians are intellectuals, but with this current administration, the economy is not getting any better. Until the government gets things back to normal, that place is not a place for people to live.
