You make me laugh.... it is only when you need POF to go to advanced countries you will be able to interpret what you have just typed. Look,if you earned 50,000 naira in 2019,as of today 14.05.2021 it means that your current salary is 25,000. If you invested 1million naira in 2019,today that 1million naira is now 500k. It is better you do not mislead people here on nairaland. igbosoupkitchen: While.we are comparing the numbers of the curency can we also please compare the purchasing power?? We are quick to compare naira to dollar, cedis to naira, cefa, euros, gbp etc and we only do so in terms on figures.
Let me ask you, I dollar is = 480naira (what is the purchasing power of both? 1 dollar can buy you a cup of coffee in the USA but 480 naira can buy you tea( coffee, lipton, milo and milk) +sandwich 1 dollar can buy you 1 or 2 bottles of water in usa but 480 naira can buy 6 or 8 bottles of water in Nigeria. 500 cefa can only buy you 1 bottle water which is 250 cefa and 1 bottle of malt drink 250 cefa, 500 naira in Nigeria can buy you water, malt, gala, biscuit, bread and akara/eggroll 100cedis in ghana cannot buy you what 9000 can buy in Nigeria, FACT
If not for our lack of productivity as a country we will not be an import dependent country aĺways seeking validation of foreign currency. |

This is very correct. area74: Thank you very much for this detailed analysis. The clear difference between an average Nigerian and a Ghanaian is patriotism. Nigerians are always very good to lament the negative side of our country everywhere.
It is understandable for a Nigerian who is leaving the country for the first time and coming to a country like Ghana with stable electricity to see it as an Eldorado.
When you stay longer in the country and start thinking and seeing beyond electricity, then you will appreciate Nigeria better in some ways.
Trust me, Ghanaians will frustrate your life if you own a business as a foreigner especially as a Nigerian.
They abhor competition and will systematically ostracise your business through the people and government agencies.
Representing my employer in the country for the last 3 years has really opened my eyes to the mindset of average Ghanaians.
In fact, I don't bother to relate with them anymore other than business meetings.
I wish the OP all the best. |

No business man saves his money in naira. Word of wisdom. Flytime: Decades of high inflation devalued the new cedi, so that in 2007 the largest of the "new cedi" banknotes, the 20,000 note, had a value of about US$2. The new cedi was gradually phased out in 2007 in favor of the "Ghana cedi" at an exchange rate of 1:10,000. By removing four digits, the Ghana cedi became the highest-denominated currency unit issued in Africa. It has since fallen to about 20% of its original purchasing power when the currency was redenominated.

Because I went to a salon to fix my hair for 500naira in Nigeria, the equivalent in the USA is 9,800naira which is $20. Does that make naira has more value than usd? Wahala dey for who no wise.

You can say that again, Nigerians are intellectuals, but with this current administration, the economy is not getting any better. Until the government gets things back to normal, that place is not a place for people to live. @FATnigga
Ghana is not the only country where Nigerian youths waste their life,in the USA,Canada,Australia,NewZealand,Europe name them. The moment you are living outside Nigeria and you do not have the legal documents to live in that country that you in,then it's a waste of time. |

This is not true,If you live outside Nigeria legally, you have 80% of obtaining any visa in the world with ease. FATnigga: You haven't seen something like this in Nigeria? Haba! Where do you live in Nigeria?
Anyway if you are a young man reading this thread DO NOT fall for this propaganda. You have been warned. I have been to many Africans countries, believe me if it ain't south Africa don't leave. Do not waste your youthful years like others have done |

That is upto you,do you want to live here legally? If yes,you need to prove it via your documents,if u chose to come and stay here without papers,as long as you are not into any crime, the immigration or police will not disturb you, Ghana is an expensive place to live in. Like I said before,Ghana is a freedom nation. Mcslize: So, if one wants to stay more than the stipulated 90 days, up to like 2yrs, how does one go about it? |

For you to live here legally, you need the legal document which is your resident permit. Yes there are Nigerians I know that do not have legal documents but they have been here over a decade. Mcslize: Do Nigerians need resident permit to stay in Ghana or they cab just travel down and stay freely? |

2. Tell us the area in Nigeria that enjoys such stable power supply. I will fact-checked it asap.

Official rate is actually 1cedis=65 naira whilst black market is 70 naira. Whilst growing up,I could remember how useless the franc xefa was, today naira and xefa are in the range. By end of this year, the francophone countries in West Africa including Ghana has introduced a new currency called eco currency. It is shame on Nigerian leaders. Ghana is a place for comfort and peace even though its expensive place to live in. Stable economy, good roads. Ghana of now is like Nigeria in the 90s. I have been living here since 2018 and ever since i left Lagos Nigeria,my life has been so peaceful. Although Ghana is not as beautiful as Nigeria, nor neither are they richer than Nigeria but there is a system that is working here. Ghana is a freedom country, no police harassment. God blessed the day I left the shores of Nigeria. |
