BusinessRe: Dangote Predicts Naira Will Appreciate To ₦1,100/$ This Year by LofP(m): 2:18pm On Feb 19
lionshare:
The CBN governor’s speech suggests the central bank has been keeping rates high—likely to support FAAC and overall stability. If they withdraw, rates will drop sharply to their true level, but CBN seems to be managing naira’s appreciation. By December, with God’s grace, it should hit around ₦1,200—definitely under ₦1,400.
Look at the different scenarios and leave fate out of it.

Optimistic Scenarios (Appreciation to ₦1,100–1,250):
Some projections anticipate significant strengthening, driven by sustained reforms, reduced imports, and higher FX inflows. For instance, economist Ayo Teriba suggests the Naira could mirror its 2006 performance, gaining strength amid market surges and stabilizing inflation. Long-term models from platforms like LongForecast predict an end-2026 rate around ₦1,146, with monthly averages trending downward from current levels. Traders Union forecasts ₦1,248.71 by year-end, assuming improved current-account balances. Outliers like CoinCodex suggest even stronger appreciation to ₦1,000–1,015, though this appears overly bullish given structural constraints.

Neutral/Stability Scenarios (₦1,300–1,450):
Many expect broad stability, with mild appreciation or fluctuation around current levels. PwC's outlook projects stability around the budgeted ₦1,400, supported by positive current-account balances, rising reserves (from $45.45 billion in late 2025), and policy transparency. Trading Economics anticipates ₦1,325.52 in 12 months, citing global macro models. Reuters reports the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) forecasting stable forex markets, aiding overall growth at 4.49%. Market sentiment on X aligns, with expectations of ₦1,300–1,350 in Q1 and a year-end band of ₦1,350–1,450, bolstered by oil receipts and lower speculative demand.

Pessimistic Scenarios (Depreciation to ₦1,550–1,700):
Weaker outlooks highlight risks from monetary easing, falling oil prices, and external shocks. Citigroup (Citi) predicts depreciation to ₦1,650–1,700 by mid-2026, as the CBN cuts rates and crude declines exert pressure. BMI forecasts ₦1,550, contrasting with more optimistic analyst views. The World Bank notes a softer global dollar aiding emerging currencies, but warns of vulnerabilities in oil-dependent economies like Nigeria.

A lot of the money being borrowed is to build infrastructure.

A lot of money is being spent to inctease the transmission capacity of PHCN. Currently there is insufficient capacity to move all the power being generated from the Gencos to the Discos who deal with the retail end- poeer to the end users.
Lol... I would like to know concrete projects to build the distribution capacity of the TCN.

Alright, no problem.
If you have a solid business idea, write out your business needs, how to run your business, your estimated profit, and all that's necessary to succeed.

Next, look for VDM's contact or his office in Wuse 2 or Gwarinpa. He does weekly support for entrepreneurs in Abuja. You will sign a consent form that he can make a video of the interview he will conduct before giving you the money.

He gives money depending on how convincing you sound and he will ask you deep questions to know if you really want to start a business or you just want to squander the money.

For example, you may ask for 1 million and he will eventually just give you 50 thousand if he can't see the zeal, know-how or seriousness in the interviewee.

Best of luck.

grin Congratulations to Tinubu.

Atiku will never win against Tinubu. Instead of this guy to retire and allow someone else lead Nigeria, he just wants to make sure he satisfies his own ambition. grin grin grin

Cameroun is easy to migrate to sha. XFA is higher than naira.
CrimeRe: “Yahoo Is One Of Nigeria’s Biggest Problems” — Lady by LofP(m): 10:41am On Jan 27
She has made a reasonable observation. Yahoo is one big societal problem that Nigerian government has failed to deal with. Next is organ trafficking. A former senator is in prison abroad for this. And the final boss is human rituals which the politicians also indulge in, and therefore cannot stop it.

It is up to us as a society to speak against the evils of our time.

Seen something like this in real life and it wasn't a pretty sight. It happened suddenly and the uproar was immediate. The victim was lucky.

Oh I’m engaging a pikin, sorry.

Tinubu is not so daft to leave an old time friend, Ladoja whose coronation he attended and of very high electoral value (11 LG) for a novice, Owoade with far less electoral value (~4LG) whose only relationship was giving Seyi Tinubu a chieftancy title so he could have a crumb from him.
Since the coronation, have you seen Seyi associating with the title in the public unlike the Stepmother, Yeye Asiwaju Oodua?
If Alaafin is that important, Tinubu would attend his coronation.

Heroes rise, heroes fall. Same as kingdoms and empires.
This your last line will hurt their feelings so much 🤣
