I believe u know maths, so subtract 5 from 27.....and that's the age he did that..
You know Math so much, that the "displaced" Alonso played the Final of 2010 WC. Or maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me and it was Busquets who suffered that vicious kick by De Jong to the chest? So I'm not only poor in Math, my eyesight is also in question.

Are you sure you watched the 2010 WC? Busquets displaced Alonso at 2010 WC? The same Xabi Alonso who started every game for Spain? LMAO. Jezuz.

No one has ever compared Busi to Pep and no Barca fan will. If I may ask, how many Guardiola's can we find out there today? And who would you suggest we play as our midfield since Busi is average. Your honest answer bro, who can we deploy there that would fit expertly there and offer a Guardiola-esque performance for us?
You see, I've read previous posts where people claimed Busquets makes up for his lack of physical presence and agility by being cerebral. I can only laugh. The truth is ALL defensive midfielders are cerebral by nature. It is a given. You cannot play that role if you are not technically gifted and sharp. There is an obvious reason why the best coaches were defensive midfielders in their playing days (pretty obvious). This is because as a DM you are already doing the duties of a coach. You are reading the game. You see the entire game due to your default location; the way a striker who is usually way upfront cannot see.

While I'm not looking for a Sammer who could carry his team to win the Champions League while playing as a Libero (for obvious reasons - that will change the leadership dynamics), I expect a more disciplined player who tends to lose the ball less, if at all.

Busquets can still do that but he needs to work on himself and discipline himself. It doesn't take much to put the ball out of touch if you sense you might lose it. That's what really smart DMs do.

It's a rarity because I have watched far better Holding Midfielders play that role for Barca. Busquets does not compare favorably with Guardiola for instance. If you ever watched Guardiola play, you would know what I'm talking about.

It's amazing how we've been winning all these trophies with `average' players and inept coaches.
You just inadvertently stumbled on one of the most counterintuitive facts about a team sport - the winning formular is a system and a few maestros mixed with average players. The system started with Cruyff and on his debut Barca beat Real Madrid 5-0 in the Bernabeu. That was telling.

The Galaticos of the mid 2000s were on paper unbeatable with World Class players in each position. Yet Barca with just 2 maestros and a super-maestro (if I'm permitted) completely annihilated them. Worst day ever for poor Sergio Ramos. Never underestimate the power of a system. Also, too many cooks spoil the broth. Just have 1 or 2 cooks whom the rest trust and follow blindly.

If fabian Delph didnt play DM vs Juve that was because Fernando was playing as DM and not Yaya.

Again Yaya doesnt play DM for City show any game where there wasnt Fernando, Fernandinho or any DM on the field

except maybe in last minute when they are chasing the game
Sorry o; I am merely reporting what I saw. If you doubt it, why not get a video of the game and watch? Besides, I am sure you know what a double pivot is, so I don't know why you think Yaya cannot be DM even with Fernando on the pitch (which would make sense when you are ahead). And once again, Delph did not play DM; not in the match I watched. I doubt you could even describe him as a DM; he's more of a Box-to-Box.

There are not formation where any player is mandated not to cross the center circle. even central defenders cross center circle

Busquets crosses the center circle does that stop him from being the DM in Barca?
Apparently, figures of speech are not your forte; and you don't know how football was played before the days of Total Football. Anyhoo, Fabian Delph is NOT exactly a Defensive Midfielder. And in the game I refer, he did not play the DM role. NOT one bit.

4. In the CL, Fernandinho was subbed out and another DM Fabian Delph came in
There you go. And I don't think Fabian was playing the DEFAULT DM in that match. These are not static formations where somebody does not cross the Center Circle; and is therefore a DM. Anyway, you do well for doing the work of digging up Fernandinho's matches and subs. Thanks.

You said the only game City played just this last weekend was against Swansea

Yes its really important. let me know which game Yaya played at DM
OK, here it is since you didn't understand my last post. EVERY SINGLE GAME, Yaya at some point plays DM whether Fernandinho is subbed out or not. YES, even the Swansea game (even though I didn't watch it), at some point Yaya was playing DM and you can take that to the bank (of course this usually happens when Fernandinho starts one of his forays to the other side of the pitch).

If I have the time, I will dig up the game where he actually DEFAULTED to DM; which does not mean he does not play DM at various points in ANY game he plays for City.

Apparently it wasn't against Swansea. I am checking the match reports of other games though; if it is REALLY important I will let you know. But the crux of the matter is, Yaya and Fernandinho swap roles a lot. So whether Fernandinho is subbed out or not, at some point in ANY match Yaya is DM.

Well, try man-marking Mattias Sammer (my All-time Favorite DM) and let's hear the "Story That Touched The Bone to the Marrow". It shouldn't work against a DM. And with Masch...one minute he does something and you are wowing...next minute he does something absolutely stvpid. And he (and Pique) cannot seem to handle balls floated from deep. Same strategy Real Madrid used successfully back in the day.

Why are you talking like someone that just started watching barcelona under Enrique? Who doesn't know he likes rotating his players when given any opportunity? Alba has played 90mins for like 2 full game on a row, so what is bad in the coach subbing him out in a match that was as good as won?
When Alba is injured, who is the person that takes over? is it not Mathieu? so doesn't it make sense for the coach to give him minutes in that position so as to prepare him in case of emergency?
Long and short; that was not the game to sub in Matthieu. Maybe he should do that when Barca is 5-0 ahead against Las Palmas; but definitely not this current Depor. That is what I keep hammering at; NOT THIS CURRENT DEPOR.

homesteady:
1 instance of Messi losing possession? seriously? don't you watch our game? Messi and Neymar are the chief losers of possession! Even in the match against Deportivo, Messi lost possession a lot of times! And it is the work of Busquets to try to stop the teams from countering! It can be infered that he is doing it well, because even with the high line defense, we still concede only few goals.
Aha. There you go. It is the work of Busquets to cover when Barca loses possession. Please explain that to the guy who blamed Messi for the goal against Chelsea.

homesteady:
more than 80% of them would include man-marking and harassing Busquets. Tell me why.
LMAO. Guy, please use logic. You don't see the irony in that quote? That is EXACTLY what is wrong with Busquets as a DM. You just do NOT harass and bully a DM; you try that with a standard DM, you catch a nose-bleed or broken leg. Simples. Busquets does not have the physical presence and athleticism required.

Ok. Think am getting u now. Matthieu doesn't like the LB position but somehow he can't seem 2 displace the CB pairing of pique and Mascherano (who's not even a defender by default). Lucho is d manager, he sees them in training every week and somehow he wants to satisfy a 31 year old CB who's not getting enough play time and u still think he's d bad guy? So if our no. 1 LB gets injured or unavailable and matthieu gets called up 2 play we should always expect his calamitous defending cos he doesn't do well at LB. Strange that ure blaming lucho, a manager that won us d treble last season cos he's trying 2 play fair and square. I never knew coaches lose their credibility that fast
LOL. So if you were Matthieu, would you rather sit on the bench; or have your coach put you on the spot by subbing you in to a position you are not comfortable with? Would you rather be a scapegoat for conceding a goal less than 2 minutes after you got on the pitch? There is no doubt on what you would have chosen. Alba was not injured last I checked. It was just 20 minutes to go; so what was the sub about?

BarcaBlood:
So Busquets lost possession in a bad position, big deal. He's gained more possessions that led to barca scoring, gave a lot of direct assists and scored some important goals. Why r you focusing on a few mistakes like he's above one. Messi lost possession to lampard against Chelsea in the 2012 ucl @ stamford bridge that led to the only goal of the game. We lost that match and the tie eventually. Xavi did same against this same Chelsea in the 2005 ucl. We lost the match 4-2 and crashed out. Going by your logic, both xavi and messi (legends of the game ) are average players cos they made mistakes that cost their team

These things happen; mistakes are part of d game
BIG DEALhuh Do you know the significance of a DM losing possession? shocked (In case you don't get it, the position of a DM holding the ball is always precarious because he usually has nobody to cover for him if he loses the ball) And you say BIG DEAL? You listed Messi and Xavi losing ball possession and it led to a goal; do you realize this is an indictment on the DM and defense? Where did Messi lose possession? On the opponents side of the pitch; where was the defense and DM? You merely mentioned 1 instance of Messi and Xavi losing possession; should I mention about 10 instances Busquets did same; starting with Champions League SF against Inter Milan?

If you watched the match you'll notice both of deportivo's goals came from Matthieu's wing, and he was a substitute, its clear 2 see he cost us d game. Jezuz, did you read my post at all? Matthieu had stated times without number that he isn't comfortable as Left Fullback. Lucho for some reason thinks Matthieu doesn't know what the fvck he's talking about and decided to once again risk playing him at that wing despite the fact that Depor came back from 2 goals just last season (that feeling of Déjà vu should've been enough for any sensible person) and this season they have been very good away. By the way, was Matthieu responsible for our midfield collapsing in the UEFA Supercup? huh I wasn't aware! FYI, our midfield collapsed immediately Lucho subbed out Iniesta.
