PoliticsBreaking: APC thrashes Saraki with 262 votes by logtrend52(op):
The All Progressives Congress, APC senatorial candidate has won the PDP senator Bukola Saraki with a margin of about 262 votes in Kwara state.

The APC won the senatorial poll with 473 votes to beat PDP’s Senator Bukola Saraki who polled 211.

The APC also defeated the PDP in the House of Representatives election, winning 484 votes as against PDP’s 200.

AbdulRazaq comes from the same Ilorin West local government of Kwara Central as Saraki.

The APC candidate had earlier told reporters his party was headed for a landslide victory against the PDP, saying the people of the state were tired of poor governance and corruption which he said the PDP represents in Kwara.

Saraki however won his own polling unit at Agbaji Quarters, Ajikobi Ward, Ilorin West LGA and also delivered for Atiku Abubakar.

In the presidential election, Atiku Abubakar polled 219 votes while Muhammadu Buhari polled 68 votes.

Saraki scored 269 votes in the senatorial election to defeat APC which polled 60 votes.

PDP also recorded victory in the House of Reps election with 253 votes to APC’s 53 votes.

However, President Muhammadu Buhari won 462 votes at the Idigba Ilorin polling unit 004 of the party’s governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak.

Buhari’s votes more than double the figure scored by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party. He got 167 votes.

All the APC candidates trounced their PDP counterparts at the unit.

Politics2019 Presidential Election: Oboh Likens Buhari Vs Atiku Contest To Boxing Bout by logtrend52(op): 7:33am On Feb 23, 2019
Former British and Commonwealth Light heavyweight champion,

Peter Oboh has likened today’s battle among political parties for the presidency of Nigeria, particularly, as it affects the two leading political parties and their candidates, President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition, the PDP to a boxing match.

“I have likened this exciting duel to a boxing bout between the defending champion, in this case, President Buhari and the number one contender who is the main challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. I know there are numerous other contenders, but Atiku is ranked as the number one contender being that he represents the main opposition party, the PDP,” Oboh said.

He pointed that like in a boxing match, the combatants need the support of their fans. He said, “in this context, the fans are going to be the voters. Even in boxing, the support a fighter gets from the supporters spurs him on. It gives you the extra vibe because you would want to go down in front of your supporters.”

Oboh therefore called on supporters of the candidates, who are eligible voters to go our and cast their votes for their preferred candidates. “Unlike boxing which is just between two conders in a roped square, today’s bout has to do with numbers. The more votes a candidate gets from his supporters (the electorate), the better are the candidate’s chances,” adding, “the vote is the punching power and thus both candidates need to outpoint or knockout the other.”

The former boxing champion is therefore pleading with every elegible and qualified voter not to be discouraged because of the postponement.
