The problem is d attitudes of many Nigerians which has put us in this situation as a country. How can a country vote for leaders that have empty brain to rule them and they r happy n also ready to die for them. My Colleaque in d office recently got a job in Malta n was considering not to go but I encouraged him n highlighted d advantages of moving out of d country.

Hi, any idea how it ur colleague was able to get a work visa from outside Malta? Thanks
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Oracle Financial And Sap, Which Is Better In Terms Of Opportunities by loluuu(m): 8:00pm On Jul 24, 2008
Basically, Oracle E Business Suite and the SAP family approach Enterprise integration with more or less the same approach but on different platforms. To excel in either, you first have to consider your strenghts or more broadly put, your domain experience because this will definately go a long way to determining which module you are best suited for. eg if you've worked in an HR function progressively for a while, then its natural that you will go into either Oracle HR or SAP HR as the case may be. Also both platforms offer you the choice of operating either on the technical side or on the domain side(functional consultant). i have been priviledged to have worked on both streams as i have a background as a techie first before else. iv worked specifically with Oracle HR (the business side) and im certified as an Oracle Workflow Expert(techie). Oracle E-business suite is good, SAP is likewise but you just have to make up your mind on one(usually) to be the best at it. Meanwhile, do note that customization of certain modules in either platform would usually arise because of legislation, labour laws etc, i.e its not all modules that companie IN nigeria would readily opt for because of the attendant issues so be careful in your choice- and remember the indigeneous enterprise guys! hope ive been a bit helpful, wink

@sweetums , i dont think u need be that harsh when posting your reply, i'l rather you address y the writer wrote on that ( if she needed clarification on a particular subject matter etc)

@poster, i think you need to think deep yourself, what exactly do you have in mind to start with, would these 'certifications' actually be in line with your aspirations and goals,
Jobs/Vacancies / This Army (wayo) People! by loluuu(m): 4:27pm On Jan 24, 2008
Im thinking there is a conspiracy in the Nigerian Army to continuosly defraud people with this their online application stuff.(going by the last 2 of such exercises) The site is never functional and attempts to complete the stipulated forms always come with 1 error or the other. More worrisome is that calls to the so called support lines never get acknowledged and the don't reply support e-mail. I think the whole tin is f, cked! anyboby having the same issue?

Career / Erp Training Centers by loluuu(m): 3:11pm On May 10, 2007
Hi house. I presently work as a business analyst with a degree in computer science. I have however been fascinated by the growth in the ERP-revolution etc as i believe the future of any enterprise would greatly be shapend by this. To this end i decided to get involved . Right now i assist in the Implementation of Microsoft Dynamics (Fin module) for certain clients with my company and also my company's ih-house developed HRM/payroll software. i would want anybody with useful info about local training centeres specializing in training on ERP software like SAP (Business One or the HR module), Oracle financials 11i (e-business suite) or even Microsoft Dynamics itself (CRM, Fin or HR module) etc for functional implementers. This will be really appreciated. thank you.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Join The Nigerian Army Officers Corp by loluuu(m): 6:10pm On Feb 06, 2007
I do, very much indeed. I have always believed that the military remains one of the most disciplined /organized societies u can have around. with the re-proffessinalisation of the armed forces in nigeria, it makes it even better. However, the politicization of the whole thing remains a source of worry to people who do have gunuine intentions to serve and not 4 frivolous reasons such as 'wearing the uniform'. so, where does this lead to if i may ask?

Career / Advice Needed by loluuu(m): 9:33am On Jan 05, 2007
I have just recieved mails informing me of job appointment interview( Mgt Trainee) with a nigerian conglomerate on one hand, and the Nigerian Airforce (4 a Short service commision). I am currently employed with a growing IT firm. Choosing a defined career path is agonizing enough, but my main concern is how to get away from work for the duration of these interviews (d 1st is 4 a day but the airforce's might be 4 a week at least). I need shots on how to go about this without having to resign my job

I am an IT guy (computer science degree) with a bit of experience in client user support, LAN maintenance etc which i took up to break the jinx of unemployment. i am a trained database administrator with extensive Data Management expertise. I have just gotten a new job as a Business analyst in an IT firm. this is more in tune with what id always wanted to do as it involves the acquisition of diverse skill across business and technology. i am posting this because i think i need a mentor, someone who is already into this field to share insights with, advice me on career paths to tread etc and if possible, i think we can start a group of Business analysts. hoping to hear from someone
Programming / Re: Database Administrators On Nairaland by loluuu(m): 7:45pm On Nov 12, 2006
The truth of the matter is that getting a Job as a fresher (no real work exp) is very hard in nigeria. Im saying so from personal exp and that of many friends that i know of. i recently decided to move into other areas (Business analysis) when the jobs were not forth-comming.a DBA (oracle) would have to be employed in Big organisation with large volume of data, applications etc. most of the experience u will get as a fresher would best be describe as data management and not database administration. I am OCA myself since early last year and the best i got since was working with Enterprise manager on my personal pc. by and large, the advice on moving towards development isnt so bad but personally i feel that isnt something that is learnt but rather "should come naturally" . i read computer science in school and i know what it is like to develop an application, d coding etc and not just simple "Hello world" stuff. il sugest u explore other options from Oracle and other vendors. u might c something more interesting to be than a DBA smiley

Politics / Re: Military Coup Imminent In Nigeria (Before 2007)? by loluuu(m): 1:48pm On Oct 17, 2006
i have read through the post made by the first guy and others and i can understand ur anxiety and that of millions of other nigerians on this issue of flagrant disregard of the rule of law, outright undermining of the supremacy of the constitution by the political class etc. This is worrisome. While not holding brief for the military but as someone who has related with them over the years, i do not think the greater percentage of the Officer corps will want to embark on such an exercise now baring in mind the unpopularity of military in governance. most of the present day officers are dedicated proffesionals who, having pleged their oath of alleigance to the Federal republic of nigeria and the president, will not do it. except of course the few bad elements amongst them. but then, every sect of the society has bad elements so i believe we should put our minds at rest and pray, and also work towards improving our polity
