geekybabe: Tbh. I can’t tell you what your chances will be in a year from now. The AI wave has cleared off the need for junior roles in most tech companies. Even mid roles are asking for an arm and a leg now. We are not sure whats going to happen but before we find out, it’s best to think of a non tech backup plan. It’s not just a Canadian problem, it’s all over.
If you want to still be in tech, you need to start keeping up with the AI wave and master how to use it beyond the prompts. Learn to build AI agents and the engineering behind llms and all that.
I can’t speak to the economic climate. Things are always changing. Keep learning, building openly, and even applying for remote jobs abroad. Canada or U.S. you might even be lucky to get one before moving.
Thank you for your reply.
Can you recommend a non tech field I can get into?
And for AI, I got into the 'aws ai scholar' program with udacity, if I pass the first phase I will go on to be an agent developer.
Tech is all I know so I just want to stack the skills this year and see what next year brings
Modified:
Do people still get work visas? I'll really prefer that because I don't want to go there and struggle - anxiety and depression will kill me
I hope you're doing well. I recently read a post in your diary about how challenging the tech job market currently is for juniors in Canada, and I have a few questions regarding my own plans.
I am currently a .NET developer with over 2 years of experience. My plan is to start the 'japa' process next year, by which time I will have at least 3 years of experience. Before making the move, I intend to heavily grind LeetCode and system design to prepare for interviews, as I want to minimize the struggle once I arrive.
Could you share some insights on the following: Is .NET highly sought after or popular in the Canadian tech market?Realistically, what are my chances of landing a mid-level role with 3 years of experience in the current economic climate? Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to your reply
Goldrosewine: This does not imply sexual interests, abeg o just bored today on this holiday and I have decided to rant here, since I saw a similar post recently about a guy saying confidence is what a lady cannot resist in a man. I won't appreciate any unsolicited messages🙏
Dentition: Gap teeth (you know what I mean, especially a small one right between the central incisors) or just between the lateral incisor and canine)
Thick wrist (not fats deposit, just wrists with a wide circumference)
Minimal or no bodily hairs. Yeah a lot will hate me for this, just my opinion which may change or not. But those beards, chest or armpit hairs? Taah!
Height. However you must not be too tall. I am 5:9 so anything from 5:6 to 5:11 is perfect.
Modesty and awesomeness (not extreme masculinity) I am not a feminist abeg. I like guys that are gentle, pull the chair for you at the restaurant, hold an umbrella for you, hold the door open for you, just being a gentleman. Absolute modesty and simple too. Not a show off dude haha!
Healthy lifestyle. There is nothing I dislike more than a guy who smokes or drinks or do both. I don't just dislike them, I h-word them. Take your good health seriously guys, go for rehab if you need to.
Small inner circle. Guys with few or no friends. The introvert who enjoys his own company.
Respectful. The guy that still prostrate to greet his dad at 30 years, still run errands for his mom at 35 (not necessarily because he is living with them, but maybe sometimes when he visits or when they give him an emergency call) that level of respect is the norm for every omoluabi.
Not bald. As much as I dislike body hairs, e no reach head abeg🤣
Belly fat. (Not pot belly) I love belly fat in a man, especially the type that gives him the wealthy boy vibe when he's in a native. I don't know but in Benin republic, I once saw this muscular, six pack guy that bullied people and he had an altercation with this gentle guy who looks ordinary, he even had a fatty belly. Against what people thought, it was the muscular guy that needed saving o, see blue black beating. Lol. It kind of left an impression on me.
Speech intelligence. Even if you no know book, just have good oratory skills and be eloquent. I would like to see my man on a podium speaking with great eloquence while I sit in the crowd or assembly just admiring him and looking at how other ladies are admiring him😊🥰🥰🥰 aiish
Phobia. Scared of snakes or rats or spiders or cocroaches lol even my cousin would tell me I will never find this trait in a Nigerian man. But I am not scared of those things. So I would really like a guy that has such fears, that way I would be able to do something for him and it would make me feel good🤦🙈 it's hard to explain honestly.🥲🥲
Ambitious. he dreams big, not jealous of success, just envying it and ambitious to reach the top too.
Laughs a lot. That would be golden!
He cries. Like, weep Take this from me. If you ever express your sadness in tears while in your girl's arm, it does something to her heart... she'd start clutching to you so hard. Don't be manly all the time. Sometimes, just let the feelings flow. Life is already hard for everyone, talkless a man.🥺 I feel u guys.
Straight legs No vex but I dislike wobbly legs... and many guys have come to have a sort of disfigured legs due to bad walking posture, trying to copy one silly trend or so, etc.
Gentle with kids and pets That would be another golden trait!
Extremely decent with words and actions when in public The way he eats, talks, interact, just everything. Especially in Nigeria where people judge you by your countenance and how you 'carry' yourself.
You know the sort of guys that gleefully talk about women's body parts in public? That's so uncouth and all ladies detest such.
dominique: I think it's my 14-Year-old nephew that's the only Chelsea fan that wants Chelsea to win this match. Any which way, e go be. If you like lose and get knocked out of European competition, na you sabi o.
Arsenal's failure is more important than chelsea's success atp
Exousiang01: That is an absolute lie and you know it. That is under a staircase. A room around yaba should be going for that same rate so, expect the agent took you for a fuul which he seems to be right about then...
Redirect your energy to things that would improve your financial life.
The reason you are this worried about a girl you dated for just one month and she ghosted you is because you are struggling financially and you have limited access to women of your taste and by chance or luck or whatever you met this very lady who happened to be your spec physically or beauty wise and as she ghosted you, you have not been able to meet a girl as beautiful as she is or more prettier than her, hence you feel that you have lost a rare gem that you can never find again. That is the reason you are feeling suicidal, and you are committing a big fallacy.
Let me enlighten you, as a man, what makes you a man of value, the dream man of most women is your financial worth (ability to provide without stress) not your handsome look, not your 9 packs, not your intelligence, not the length of your Gbola or how good you are in bed. Focus on what makes you a valuable man; finance. Get it right and watch prettier, classier, hotter, better ladies become easily available to you such that you will be wondering what made you fell so badly for this girl of today. By then, you might see the girl and even feel ashamed that you once felt like committing suicide because of her.
The older a man grows in financial wealth, the better he becomes and the more he becomes more appealing to women.
You have not even seen women my brother, just work on improving your financial life and you will have the opportunity to travel around and see that God really created beautiful women beyond the ones you are seeing now lol.
To make you understand where I am coming from, I am a happily married man with kids. As beautiful as my wife is, when I visit some places and see some ladies and how gorgeous they are, I just smile and say wow God de create lol.
If I decide to marry again today, I will marry a lady prettier and hotter than my wife, with even good character join, and you know why? Because I am financially better today than when I married my wife and I have become the dream man of so many classy ladies unlike when I just finished NYSC that I was the dream man of few mgbekes and maybe some local beauties
In this beautiful life, you should only be worried about two things:
1.) things that affect your health negatively
2.) things that reduces your finances
With the above two things in tact, my brother the world is yours as a man so better wake up and face your job or business and start thinking of how to improve yourself to enable you get promoted, secure a juicer job or grow in your business if you are a businessman.
This is gold.
Seun, please let us be able to save posts like this.
Trueigbo: Polaris bank, keystone and union bank are not expected to meet this as stated by CBN. the banks are under CBN watch so no cause for alarm.
POLARIS, KEYSTONE and UNION bank customers should not panic. No bank will be closed for not meeting the capital requirement. what happens is that the banks will move to the band where they can operate
wunmi590: I heard polaris bank is being taken over by wema, I've a fri3nd who work there, they couldn't meet up with the fee, so wema want to buy them.
not happening anymore... They'll most likely meet it
Benoxvals: According to industry reports and earlier CBN confirmations, the compliant banks include: 1. Access Bank / Access Holdings 2. Zenith Bank 3. United Bank for Africa (UBA) 4. First HoldCo (First Bank) 5. Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) 6. Fidelity Bank 7. Ecobank Nigeria 8. Stanbic IBTC Bank 9. Wema Bank 10. Citibank Nigeria 11. Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria 12. Globus Bank 13. PremiumTrust Bank 14. Providus Bank 15. Sterling Bank 16. Polaris Bank 17. Unity Bank 18. Jaiz Bank 19. Lotus Bank 20. Nova Commercial Bank 21. Greenwich Merchant Bank 22. Parallex Bank 23. SunTrust Bank 24. Signature Bank 25. Titan Trust Bank 26. Keystone Bank 27. Optimus Bank 28. First City Monument Bank (FCMB) 29. Union Bank (now part of Titan Trust structure) 30. Coronation Merchant Bank
Another 3 banks have already raised new capital but they are still undergoing final verification by the CBN before full confirmation/enlisting.
dalongjnr: Not even close. Wema was in the picture but the ownership/assets structures was the issue. SCIL and other investors alongside, the AMCON FG 1.3 trillion bond repayment was the issue of contention. Polaris has really grown by 35% since the 2022 take over by SCIL. So they opted for investor-led capital raises to meet the new, higher, minimum capital requirements. Unless there's a last minute change, the should be in that number. Otherwise, a last minute merger with WEMA will follow through. But I know AUWAL and other investors wanted total ownership not merger.
Hoping and praying this is real. I no want that wema merger at all.
