Hello good people. I need help with schools that give full funding for MSc programs in the US. I have searched and made use of some threads here, I have gotten mostly PhD programs which I have applied to. I just want to do 1 or 2 MSc applications too. Kindly help me. Thanks a lot. |

Hello all, Please what is the best advice to give someone whose profile is below: Age: 30+ Female BSc grade: Pass She wants to know if she can get an admission in the US, either BSc or MSc. I was going to tell her the chances are really low or non-existent but then I feel I could get more insights form people here. Are there schools that can offer her admission? Thanks. |

I just found strength to write this. Please I need help on this. Date: June 23rd, 2022 Time: 9:00am Embassy: Lagos Status: Not Approved VO: Good morning. Pass me your passport and I-20 Me: Good morning. *I passed the requested documents* VO: Where are you going in the US? Me: I am going to the ******* for master’s degree in ******* with focus on Energy Conversion and Storage. VO: *Checks the I-20 while I speak* Me: *I continued to speak to end the awkward silence* I’ll be researching on new materials and technologies to improve the durability and efficiency of the current energy sources. VO: Okay. Let’s talk about this deficit. Who will be paying the $27000? Me: (I felt there was no need to talk about the yearly scholarship of $18000 since he asked about the deficit only) Besides the scholarship, my uncle will be responsible for the remaining costs. VO: Who is he to you? Me: (Shocked by the question) He is my uncle. My dad’s younger brother. VO: What does he do? Me: His company, ******, is a major distributor of engine lubricants for Total Energies and Mobil Oil. Also, he owns some properties that are on rent in Lagos and Ogun states for both commercial and residential purposes. (The VO typed as I spoke at this point) Me: *I continued speaking to avoid the silence* He has been involved with my education is primary school as I am his favorite nephew and the oldest. He was influential in my choice of undergraduate school where he also graduated from in 1995. So, when I told him I was offered a 70% yearly tuition, he was willing to help me maximize the opportunity by supporting me financially. (VO kept typing then he just stretched his hand towards the blue paper section. At this point, I muttered “God” and went blank. I honestly didn’t hear the first part of what he said. It most probably would have been around “…not qualified today…”. As I was about taking the paper from him, I looked at him and he said, “ask for more scholarship”.) I have reached out to the school, and I was told that’s the most scholarship they give to international student and the department has no funding to add now. GAs and TAs are for PhD students but can be lobbied for when in school. I am thinking of requesting for anther I-20 from my school and including personal funds alongside my uncle’s. My uncle’s SOA had more than the deficit, but I didn’t get to present it at the interview. This is just to show there’s been a difference since my last interview. I intend to apply to Abuja this time. I need advice on the possible next step. I just want to know if there are other things I am missing. Thank you and God bless. @UmmZayd @Schrodinger2 @Moshkom 3 Likes 1 Share |

This is a very good idea...and it's time we, the youth, take responsibility of the progress of this country. Nigeria is lagging behind seriously when compared with other countries she was at level with some 30 years ago. These old men can't offer us anything. I don't mean to be disrespectful to these elderly ones, but to be very honest, they lack the capability and hunger to set this country on the right path. We have what it takes to execute this plan, if only we can be honest about it. The present "average" Nigerian has the mentality of watching out for themselves alone. It only takes a "dollar rain" and you see devoted people turn "Judases". I support this movement. 1 Like |
