I'm using DW as my text editor and i've created all the first page but i don't know how to design the contents i.e page2.

av u tried checking the jquery website they have loads of tutorials and moreso, jquery cn do a hellishly lot of things xo it would help more to give me an idea of what u wanna do!!!!

well jt got a handle on android tho i av been in java for a while and av started d networking process connecting it to a php webserver!! I was delayed by runonui exception to which I av found d solutoon in AsyncTask!!! the oda issue now is hw to handle orientation change!!! imagine a case wia I send a request to d server and d orientation chaged, do I have to send an new request?? I won't want to hold d user to an orientation coz am requesting for smthn frm d server!! beautiful ideas wud b welcome..@ayankayode, y not challenge us wit smthn u knw isn't in town but cn make waves!!! check out www.javasoft.com it redirects to oracle website but for the java page! Select java SE(standard edition)! The latest is jdk7 update whateva!!! Please when u want to download, don't choose JRE as u won't b able to compile wit jre but select jdk(java development kit) it is bundled with jre!!! Don't b tempted wit d size of jre and think its d same!!!! Happy coding!!!!

I then started out with learning QBASIC as you suggest but ran into a complication- QBASIC is not running on my WINDOWS 7 PC. Any suggestion on fixing this? I have a tutorial website i am following already, but they seems to be using older versions of WINDOWS.

Guys, I have been able to design User interfaces and the issue with the db is solved now and I still ended up using mysql. Thank you for your invaluable contributions. Really, the issue now is getting to login. I have written methods to handle that which is successfully built but fails to log in valid user. Below are code excerpts to explain my challenges. Try adding Class.forName("mysqldriver"; d mysql deriver shud b smth lyk com.mysql something. Am not actually sure but u did not refer to any database driver here. The only place you can do dis is in javaDB(derby) it sort of broadcast itself like JINI

To become an expert in programming, the time doesn't matter as long as you have smthn to show for it. Also, when u want to study programming, discard all d ideas u once had abt computer!!! Xome think bcoz they can use ms word, programming wud b easy!!! Lol
To learn programming, b willing to task your brain day and night!! You should first study algorithm which simply means process of getting things done in the simplest explainable way. E.g. How do you sum 2 numbers? Since we don't know what those two numbers are, you ask for the first and second number, then you carry out your operation whych is addition and show you result bcoz computer is about input and output coz ur output can serve as input for another system!!! Then u shud undastand variables and constants in computer terms tho its not much diff 4rm d literal term anyways. Then you must b ale to replicate your algorithm in a graphical manner(perhaps coz of our handwritting) which brings you to flowcharts. Study those tins and you are ready for any language. Firstly, html, css, javascript and php are not programming languages.
HTML is simply a markup language that only a browser understands. You can try to read the content of a page with your textbox or texarea and see what it displays. Ur raw html codes. You processor does not act on HTML codes, ur browser does.

CSS( cascade style sheet) is best at what it is stylesheet. Jt to add flavour to the presentation of a n HTML page. Developed with the oop perspective of reusability. Although, css is being imported in other apps like LWUIT for j2me and phonegap for rendering of pages

Also javascript like you said is used to add dynamism to a page and make it more lively. Bt its just a script like an applet in java. To carry oit a specific task on as needed basis. Javascript, css cannot stand alone as they needed to be added to a webpage b4 both can b functional xo idont think they qualify to be called a programming language but they are real deal esp the javascript library jQuery. Its a very great wonder.

For php, have you ever checkd d processes that are running on ur system and by chance u saw php No because php needs to be installed on a sever which can b Apache Tomcat, the popular one(imo)for wamp and xamp, also glassfish server(jsp). To further elaborate on ur defination of web application, it is an application that is mainly understood by a browser(whatever type) safari, IE, navigator, crazy B, flock, opera etc. Honestly I stand to be corrected and will really appreciate feedbacks from the gems here. To the topic, what Language should I start with, I will ask first do you understand algorithms and flowcharts, if yes, then can you write little programs with QBASIC I know many eyebrows will be raised here but one thing is dat is d purpose of that language: to teach beginners. It is pure english, using keywords like input whych wit common sense means insert, supply or whatever! And print, then from QBASIC you can go GUI with VB6, (u said am outdated) it has d same syntax with QBASIC just the GUI and database diff. While learning vb6, u can take a crash course on html but pls don't use IDE. Start with notepad. Gives u total control. Then move to the .NET framework or use ur GUI idea and ur flow of control in QBASIC to delve into java and the world of OOP. Then brush up ur HTML with css and javascript( tho I'd rather jQuery) from there, I don't think u need anyonw to tell u where to go as u will c lots of doors b4 u. If u r into java, u'll c javacard, jsp, jsf, java TV, if u r into microsoft, u'll c d .NET frameworks lyk visual c#, vb.NET, windows fone, asp/aspx etc and if u wuld love open source scripts, then php would be really intruiging. Instead of mysql, u can use access as ur database without worrying your client with database installations. For a project like ds, access won't b a bad idea
