Learnt this from a friend's marriage. She was always posting pics of her and her husband, with lovely messages. Her fb page is filled with their pics, not a day that she won't put up a picture. #dayoutwithboo, #loveofmylife, #loversforlife. Those kind of stuffs.
Well, they are currently separated and about to divorce in less than 2 years of marriage. Things weren't as rosy as she was making them to look. the marriage was never working despite her numerous fb and instagram post. She was more interested making people think she is happy, than working on her marriage. |

Let's forget the bad Ore to Lagos road for now, the worst road in Nigeria is currently the Onitsha to Enugu road, why would someone not tell Fashola or FERMA to treat this road as an emergency/priority? I was on that road in October, and I can agree that it is really bad. However, I think Fashola is trying to finish up on pending project before he starts working on new project. I agree with that but I think that road should be an exception. It is a major road in the east and it is really bad |

As most have said, the major issue with democracy is the cost. President has 36 ministers, each having aids, house of assembly also have their aids collecting salary, so yo have almost 1000 people feeding on national resources, and that is aside what they will loot. With military, you have maximum of 50 people looting (50 is even a stretch). Military has its issues, and I still think democracy is the best, but we need to cut down waste, and elect competent people. So far, its from one clown to another |

Some people recommended using Facebook profile to activate nairaland account over a year ago and recently as 5months ago
But as usual we are talking to a reinforced block wall
All complaints thrown into garbage
Most reasonable people deactivated thier accounts thus encouraging the influx of flatheadinos
They know nothing about politics, but they jump from thread to thread supporting corruption, quoting the constitution up and down, insulting people and their powerful relatives here ban you if you reply their insults
Lecturing efcc and dss on how they should do their works is their hobby
They are on relationships thread dishing out love advise , small boys whose balls are yet to drop dishing out advise
Asking you to click like or share like their life depends on it
They clone reputable monica, go through list of your followers and attack their comments
Been there seen it all but as long as it's traffic, oga seun really doesn't want anything to jeopardize that
Oh and I might get banned for this or any other post for writing this, we know their modus operandi, they insult you with clone profiles you insult back they ban you till January 2017
Nairaland is not what it used to be and apart from the fun, the funny comments, the densely, stewpydly wise mumus, their followers nd their theatrics, that's mostly what NL Stands for these days
There are posts, relevant posts in all sections from 2012,13,14 that never got more than 20 comments even though they featured, these days just post toto, bra, yeyebrity and you get 19 pages,
Post about arrest of politicians you get at least 5 pages 4 of which will be insults and Constitution
I really don't need to type this novel, just putting it out there if anyone cares to read and make amends
And power drunk moderators, nobody has defamed you yet, you remove this post, we will spam all threads
You deactivate this profile we will create more, like literally
Fix nl before lailas blog throws you in garbage That is why I rarely comment, cant be exchanging words with such people. I visit Quora more now than nairaland. Quora is what nairaland should be, but it is more of international politics and topics |

The problem is a society problem, we don't produce leaders, what we have are rulers. We need to raise the bar of leadership. People contesting must have a minimum acceptable qualification and experience, backed with success in their previous positions. And going forward, we need to invest in leadership development of the next generation, because if things continues like this, they are going to be worse |

There is no way you will be president, and know all the people you work with. Apart from kitchen cabinet like chief of staff who should be people you know very well, most other appointments will be based on recommendation. A person that grew up in Enugu for example and becomes president is expected to appoint ministers from every state like zamfara, he will have to rely on recommendation from people he knows. However, I agree that those that work for his election should be carried along. |
Politics › Nigerian Economy- My Opinion by loseyourseld(op): 8:12am On Oct 10, 2016 |
This is my point of view about the economy of Nigeria, and what i feel is the real problem and possible solutions. A major determinant of a country's economy is her balance of trade. we sell to other countries to earn dollars, and buy from other countries with dollars, the difference can be a deficit or a surplus. What Nigeria sells is crude oil. The government sells crude oil to earn dollars, sells the dollars to her citizen through the bank to import what we consume. the problem is that our demand for dollars is more than supply, that is why even when oil was selling at $100/barrel, we could not save much. Not everything was embezzled (my opinion). When price of oil crashed, supply of dollars also crashed, but demand did not. We still need dollars to pay fro refined oil, health tourism, goods, drugs etc from other countries.
The solution is two fold- increase supply of dollars, or reduce demand for dollars. To increase supply of dollars, we need to consider other things we as a country can export to earn forex, it can be agricultural products, mineral resources, manufactured goods etc. To reduce demand, we first have to look at statistics of our usage of forex. Can't remember where I read it, but i read that over 50% of our forex is spent on refined oil, a sizable percentage on food, then drugs, cars, luxury items etc. If we can refine our oil, and increase our agricultural production to meet national demand, our demand for dollars will reduce by 70%, which will reduce the pressure on naira.
Until our huge trade deficit is corrected, the naira will continue to struggle against the dollars. |

How do you define weak? Someone who is articulate with her plans, intelligent, experienced, had handled the second toughest position in the cabinet which is secretary of states. I see nothing weak about her. I think because she is diplomatic and does not use brute force, some consider her weak. But diplomacy is strength with intelligence. |
Politics › Re: Why Don’t Good People Contest For Nigerian Presidency? by loseyourseld(m): 1:01pm On Oct 09, 2016 |
There are plenty of reasons, and I will just highlight some: 1. Politics is an expensive venture. 2. To contest for presidency, you will spend nothing less than N 15b. 3. Which "good person" wants to throw such money away 4. Most people that contest for presidency, are either corrupt politicians from the system that have embezzled enough, or are sponsored by cabals 5. Canals will only sponsor someone that can control to recoup their investment. 6. Then there are lots of other dirty games involved in politics most good people will not be comfortable with.
These are some of the reasons I think most successful and intelligent people don't go into politics. However, we need them to start getting involved, either at local or state level. that's the only way we can change the system |

I am not supporting what they are doing but spread your message to both sides OK!!!! I think people blame ladies more cos they have more to lose. The guy has virtually nothing to lose. Incase of pregnancy, which is very possible, the lady will be the one to drop out of school or abort which may jeopardize her chances later in future. |

Pavore9: Which joint? I dey my office for Nairobi o!
Back to the matter, l will start by identifying myself as Igbo and proud of that identity. The first generation of my family came to Lagos from the East in the 1950's and even after the Civil war, we came back to Lagos empty-handed and we have always be thankful to God that He blessed the works of our hands and increased us in material wealth.
We were one of the early igbo families that settled in Ojota when it was still a thick forest and the land owners were very friendly and encourage my father to buy land from them also telling him to get other igbos to buy land but then most were scared to buy, fearing there could be another war thereby losing their asset.
The present day upscale Ogudu G.R,A was till the early 1990's, served as farmland to many igbos and folks from Cross River/Akwa ibom as it was government land. We had our yam, cassava, maize and ugu farms there while we planted Oha trees in our compound.
Lagos has been accommodating, live and operate within the provisions of the law. i like your comment. I have noticed that there is a difference between Igbos that grew up in Lagos and those that grew up in the East. |

Stelvin101: It will bro because the purchasing power of naira to the outside world is very weak. If government should pump in money right now and we all start living in short-time happiness then it will be like subsidizing the entire nation which is a very terrible risk to take. Naira needs to get some strength on her own and that's what government should focus on by increasing Agricultural productivity and other sector which will enable Nigeria become an exporting economy rather than importing. Pumping in money into the economy at this present state will only reduce the value of Naira more, trust me i know what I am saying. Is it that we don't have economist at Federal in this country or what What you are proposing is what we really need to do, but, that is long term. before you can invest in agriculture up till point of export may take like 5 years. That is why you don't diversify during a recession, you save and diversify during a boom. Right now, we need short term solutions and also start making long term plans. Imagine if we had diversified during OBJ, we wont be feeling the effect of fall in oil price. |

davodguy: Corruption has eaten deep into or body, spirit and soul.
I'll narrate my personal experiences in all sectors
CAR WASH The guys at the car wash centre, where i clean my car expects that after paying the normal N500 for basic wash, you have to give them money, upon completion of the service you've paid. It got worse last week, when I drove into the centre. About 5 guys who were doing nothing refused to was my car and I stood for minutes and later complained to the supervisor. The guys said I'm one of those customers that do not 'settle' them after washing. I caused a scene last week and other customers who are victims of this evil act also joined me
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE Went to governor's office to drop a mail. A civil servant who gets paid monthly, for working at the governor's office mail room, told me my letter would not be dropped to the assistant of the governor except i give him N10,000. This happened in April, 2016. I transferred N5000 to his account. He told me to come the next day to get the Feedback. Behold, I got the feedback after paying.
PHYSICAL PLANNING They did their Job last year on a development approval request I submitted. They're civil servants and do get paid monthly. yet after getting me the approval, they requested for service charge.
SECURITY PERSONNEL AT BANKS You go to the bank on Sunday, to use ATM. Security personnel become over zealously nice to you. Start hailing you and ushering you to your car. As you are about to leave, 'oga anything for the boys' I was like anything like what? Slaps or punches? What have you done other than the job you get paid for? I didn't soliciting for extra curriculum services.
This corruption thing has eaten deep into our system and can never go easily, save some spiritual cleansing I agree with you, except for the security guards. That is not bribe, its tip. I tip them cos I know their salary is quite small and they have family. But that is once in awhile when am in a good mood |

In an ideal world, sponsoring a girl you love through school should not be bad, but from experience, I won't recommend it. A friend sponsored his girl friend through medical school, only for the girl to dump him when she graduated saying that she can't marry a man with tribal marks. Truly, the guy has terrible tribal marks, but why accept his money when you know you can't marry him.
Money is difficult to turn down, it clouds a lady's judgement, and will accept to date any guy that is willing to sponsor her. But once education is over, and she starts working the relationship is over. |

There is no hope for this country no more. I am relocating It has always been about personal interest. That is why I am not a fan of democracy, neither am I a fan of military or monarchy. Not sure of the best form of government. An average legislator spends almost a billion naira to contest (presidency and governors run in tens of billions). How do you expect someone that spends such to have the interest of people at heart. Do you know how many of them are sponsored by Tinubu or other god fathers, or how much of their personal money went into it. Democracy is too expensive, and their legitimate income is not sufficient to cover for their expense. |
