i cannot tell you that the menses will cease for more than a week or two, but i can tell you that it will significantly delay and decrease the flow of menses. the menses will still come with time because the buildup of the hormones responsible for causing menses will overcome the effect of the ibuprofen [and even other drugs for that matter], which will ultimately cause contraction of the uterus [womb] and resume menstruation.

hi shygal... there are certain drugs under the class of NSAIDs [nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs] that are known to delay the onset of menstruation or even decrease the flow, especially if taken starting a day before the flow begins. infact, if you start taking it the moment you feel the slightest discomfort [before it becomes full-blown menstrual pain], it will cause menses to cease. i have tried it, and it worked for me! the one i used in particular is IBUPROFEN, 400mg 3-4 times daily, WITH FOOD!!! don't ever take it without food oh, because it can cause ulcers if you try it on an empty stomach!!!
interestingly, it was a CHANCE DISCOVERY FOR ME! i then researched and found out that it had that effect on menstruation so... there you have it!

I see the excitement waxing and waning... it is well ooooo my pipo!

it's a long 20-odd days to when we will be receiving our various call-up letters... now each day seems to have 48 hours to me. i think it's because i hardly go anywhere.. i mean most of my peeps are far away so, i do a lot of staying at home. mom doesnt like me going adventurous either, like just seeing the sights and entreating myself to some sweet-tooth sins along the way... everyone claims insecurity and BH biz are the odds against having a good time where i live.
but for my mini laptop and fast glo netpro connection that affords me quality time on my fave thread on NL, kai!!!!!! boredom for don kill me by now ooooooooooo!!!

first, if i follow back a follower of mine, does that mean he/she can have access to my email address?
secondly, how do i use the anonymous email feature? i ask this because PMs sent to me just show a notification on my NL homepage and tell me to read the PM from my email address. when i do this and have to reply the email, i do that with my own email address and the person automatically knows my email address. now how do i reply without breaching the anonymity clause?

hi kinnad, i have already completed my housemanship.. you can't even go for youth service unless you have done your housemanship. and what's more, teaching hospitals do not accept corps members. we may be posted to any place, ranging from the much-craved federal establishments [other than teaching hospitals] to the remote primary health care centers and cottage hospitals and health posts... just wanted to know the odds from someone more informed about nysc for docs.

about this suffering corpers talk, i think it is true because the government seems to take their new posting policy very seriously. they say they will start sending more peeps to the rural areas, but PROMISED that they would be treated well no matter the location.
but i am a doctor, yet to go for service. is there any doctor in the house? what do you think about service and the states that would be nice to serve in anyway?
finally, it's not everyone that will wind up teaching during this service? we as doctors may mostly be posted to some rural primary health care centers [if they insist on this their new posting policy].
