Yes it can, and it can be done with either the back-end or front-end. Hiding a feature from users is a very easy thing to do.

Game development is very costly and time consuming, it's not something you expect anyone to do for free. And the way you've laid out your idea, no one is going to find it interesting. It needs more packaging.
